Eating vicariously through DH.........
Jessiebear replied to Jessiebear's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Lonnie doesn't feel guilty at all! & I don't make him feel guilty. He has actually gained about 10 pounds since I was banded. Go figure! I don't cook anything near like what I use to cook. -
Glad to hear you are doing so well!! Congrats!!

How bad is eating before bed, please?!
Jessiebear replied to pugmum's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just notice after my last fill that if I eat after 6 or 7pm, I am too tight in the am to eat. This has really helped me to lose in the last few weeks. If I just have to have something late in the evening I have been going for boost high protein shakes or the premixed carnation instant breakfast shakes. -
YAY!! Congrats!!

It has been a struggle for me. I didn't realize just how many demons I actually had!

Donali, My husband was a snorer for years. & not regular snoring, I'm talking the kind that peel the shingles off the roof!! We tried everything & finally ended up sleeping in different rooms, & I could still hear him. I would sneak into his room & either kick the bed or shake the fire out of it. He went on a hunting trip with one of his buddies & one morning his buddy told him about this thing called a sinus cleanse pot. It's shaped like a genie lamp & comes with saline solution packets. You mix the saline in the pot & stick the spout in one nostril & then tilt your head to the side. It flushes your sinuses. I know you said you aren't congested, but neither was he. & he hasn't snored in 2 years!!!! We now sleep together again! Good luck! Snoring sucks!

I have them too. & mine have also gotten worse since the challenge. Seems like I found some exercises to combat flabby arms on the prevention.com website. Maybe it's the fast weight loss? I dunno, but it sucks!

Beans 2 cups of pinto or great northern beans that you have looked over to take out all the rocks & bad beans 1 small piece of smoked hog jowl or a piece of bacon salt & pepper to taste sugar to taste if desired (for Lonnie - he loves his pintos sweet) Rinse the beans & place in pressure cooker with enough Water to cover beans & fill pot about half full. Cook on high until the pressure cooker jiggles, then turn down to a medium high setting (7 on electric ranges). Let the pressure cooker jiggle for about 30 minutes, turn off & let cool. Stir beans & keep repeating the process until the beans are done. If you don't keep starting, stopping & stirring the beans when using a pressure cooker, the beans on the top will still be hard. This is the way my Grandma taught me to cook them. You can also use all the same ingredients & use a crock pot. Just cook all day or overnight. Grandma taught me a trick with the pressure cooker when cooking beans. After the pressure cooker jiggles for 30 minutes, take it off the burner & with the jiggler still on & the top still firmly on, run cold water over the top until you hear no more steam escaping. What I do then, is to take the jiggler off the top & if no hissing is heard, it's safe to take the top off & stir. Pressure cookers are dangerous, but they have been greatly improved since my Grandma's day. Just be careful!!

HMMMMM......... I have a pressure cooker, but I never thought about cooking the way you are talking about. I may have to look into this! I usually cook beans or potroast in mine. They are super quick & clean-up is easy too!! Thanks! If I come across any recipes I'll let you know. My potroast is just a roast with new potatoe, carrots, onions, cabbage & a package of onion soup mix covered about half way with water & cooked for about 30-45 mins.

Stainless Steel Sink advice needed......
Jessiebear replied to princess_n_thep's topic in The Lounge
OOh! I bought a plug in thingy from bath & body works the other day & bought the black berry refills for it, & that thing is awesome! I'm going tomorrow & buy 3 more to replace the little fan thingys that I have been using. They're a little pricey, but so worth it! My bedroom smells so yummy! I never could get it to smell good because of DH & his smellies. Plus the 2 dogs didn't help. I am loving all of the tips given here! & just in time for spring cleaning too! -
LOL! It will be over before you know it! I hope you have a speedy, pain & gas-free recovery!
