3 Mo Post - Eating Problems
ShariM735 replied to RichardVST's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My dietician said to cut meat into pieces the size of a pencil eraser. Then chew each piece a minimum of twenty times. Always put your fork down between bites. Don't know if this will help you, but can't hurt. Sent from my iPhone using VST -

ShariM735 replied to PatriotsFan28's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I, too, get worried. My husband would tell you it's because I'm a control freak and won't be able to personally supervise and tell the doc how he should be doing it. LOL Sent from my iPhone using VST -
So Governor Christy had lapband surgery.

New and hoping to make some friends
ShariM735 replied to WeeWers's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi, WeeWers, I'm 67 years old. I also just completed the "hoop jumping". I'm 5'2", 230 current. Started at 252. Have my surgeon appt. on June 12. Very excited. Wish I wouldn't have the hanging skin issues, but as it already hangs, it can only get worse. I'm probably looking at surgery in July. Good luck to you and I'd like to keep in touch. It would be nice to have a surgery buddy closer to my age. Sent from my iPhone using VST -

my last pre-op doctors appointment
ShariM735 replied to msnurse2u's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Had my last visit today. Now waiting for ins company to approve. I had six months of supervised visits. I'm told I won't have surgery until July. Soooo close, but not quit yet! Good luck all. Sent from my iPhone using VST -
My dietician on my last visit said no food funerals and no last meals. If I gain, it can change my approval and surgery date. Don't want to chance that! Sent from my iPhone using VST

On average how much weight does everyone need to lose?
ShariM735 replied to Taylor06's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
100-110. I'm on the pre-op supervised right now and have lost 22 lbs. Last pcp visit is Thursday. Then all the paperwork will be submitted to ins. I will still need to lose 100-110 though. Sent from my iPhone using VST -
Did any of you have doubts pre-surgery when you saw pics and videos of the loose skin left after weight loss?

I am 67. I am pretty sure my skin is going to sag big time. I am using Palmers Firming Butter and it does make my skin feel better, but at my age it's just not going to shrink up much. I'll either have to live with it, or have plastic surgery. I would rather be healthy and thin with saggy skin than stay 100 overweight like I am now though! Sent from my iPhone using VST -
I have very thin white hair. It's so thin in front I can see my scalp. So, losing hair concerns me. I have been taking Biotin, but have been hearing its not really going to help. Don't get sleeved until July, but I am going to look into getting a good wig. I figure as thin as my hair is now, it won't hurt and will help my self-esteam. Sent from my iPhone using VST

I just did the closet clean out, also. Got rid of all but one outfit. Kept the outfit I wore for my before picture at the bariatric center. I never want to see a size 20/22 in my closet again. We can do this! Surgery in July!!! Sent from my iPhone using VST

Hi ! My name is Pamela B. and I THINK I'm having a JULY surgery
ShariM735 replied to bunchlane1's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi, everyone. I am from Iowa. I will be getting sleeved in July! My last supervised visit is May 16. Then all the paperwork can go to the ins. I've been released by my pcp, dietician, and the psych. I've lost 20 lbs. on the supervised diet. I'm 5'2". Starting weight was 252. I will have two weeks of liquid diet before surgery. I would love to keep in touch with other July sleevers! What a great plan. Good luck everyone. Sent from my iPhone using VST -
Hehe. My sleep study is tonight....
ShariM735 replied to Cheer Mama's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I tried to sleep -- strange room, too soft bed, wrong side of bed, all hooked up. They woke me up at midnight to rehook a wire, had to pee at 4 am, woke me up at 5:20 to ask if I wanted to go home or go back to sleep. LOL. They wanted me to come back for a second test. I said no thanks. Sent from my iPhone using VST -
I still have a couple of months before I get sleeved. When I found out it was going to take six months of supervised diet, monthly pcp visits, monthly health coach visits, and dietician visits, I was so disappointed. Well, now that I'm almost done with all that I can honestly say it was for my own good. I've lost 22 lbs. so far. I've learned so much about nutrition. I wasn't ready six months ago. I needed this time to learn. I think, thanks to everyone on here, that I truly know what I'm getting myself into now. I'm so sorry for those with regrets. I'm not saying I'll never feel that way, but I think I understand I'll go through all kinds of feelings and I'll hopefully be able to deal with them. So, thanks everyone for expressing the good, the bad, and the ugly. Yes, I'm ready to do this for myself! Sent from my iPhone using VST

Lying about weight loss and/or months on a program
ShariM735 replied to Ree's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I know my ins. company sent me a set of 7 pages. I have to go to my pcp once a month. I have to get weighed, discuss my exercise for the month, and my goals. This has to be documented and signed by my pcp. So, six months of supervised diet with documentation. There just wasn't anyway around it. Sent from my iPhone using VST -
Last week I had a grilled shrimp with pepper and onions taco. Yummy. Don't have to eat the shell. Ate some of the Beans, but no rice. Sent from my iPhone using VST
