How often do people need to buy new clothes?
goodtimes replied to bsimoes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i actually started buying shirts in XL (clearance rack) even before thinking about the surgery. i always put jackets on to cover it up. now that the process has begun, i will be able to wear them alone. i will wait until the fall and see what's going on then -
my nutritionalist gets to set my surgery date...whats that about
goodtimes replied to vixie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
vixie, that nutritionist is the big boss when it boils down to your surgery date. i remember gaining 6 lbs. before my scheduled date, she pecked some info. in that computer and when i met the surgeon he was like no, u need to lose it. basically mine's asked me what do i eat in a week. they just want to see if you will be and are committed to losing weight before sugery and even afterwards. just an extra piece of info., start a food journal. good luck to ya!! -

hi lilly73, i went back after 4 days. i had the surgery on a saturday went back wednesday. believe you me, if you can suggest what some docs. say, 1 week then take it easy. your body is getting used to something foreign in it. i understand total healing at this point!!!!! just take it easy when you return.

different feel to hunger and fullness?
goodtimes replied to bsimoes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i agree with you jachut. i am 8 days after surgery and although my doc has kept me on the liquid diet, i did cheat last week (i was too hungry!!!) i ate a baked chicken drumstick i couldn't finish it although i was trying not to waste food and immediately i felt a discomfort and i haven't even had the first fill yet. (it is also due to the healing process) I just believe that although this band is a tool, it still hinges on your mindset to not want to indulge any longer -
Would you do it again?
goodtimes replied to seagogirl1957's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i have to disagree with you zingirl227. i have a friend who has had the gastric last year. yes that is true the weight loss is much more faster than the lap band but with that, she is sagging really bad and believe you me, she does get hungry just like the rest of us but as you know the difference between the surgeries. give it time, i hope that you haven't regretted your decision -
well its alright been a week and a day and I am coming back to being normal. I have to say that I have been blessed with my recovery. ALTHOUGH I AM HUNGRY AS HECK!!!!!! man one of my docs said that i will be on liquid for a week, then talked to the nurse and she said that my other doctor said he wanted me to be on the liquid for quite a while. I have now added protein and yuk!!! you guys I think I got the wrong one. I got soy protein. I added it to some apple juice and ooooooo i almost threw up. I need some ideas from you guys. I know that some of you have on the other threads. other than that, i am hanging in there eating jello, water, broth, etc.

hey pamla68 preop was for 2 days, after surgery 1 week. i will say that i cheated yesterday. graduation party just ate some baked chicken, was chewing it like no tomorrow felt fine. the guilt did bother me so i am back on popsicles. you know I really believe its the individual's body. i was cringing at the thought of the gas problem. ooo but i did ask the nurse about it and she said the same thing another bandster said that they use gas to pump for the doctors to see inside. they try to take out as much gas as possible.

Received surgery date/unsure of decision
goodtimes replied to tesma's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
she had to be approx. 65. she had many problems, arthritis, breathing problems. i believe it did have a lot to do with her being obese. -

Received surgery date/unsure of decision
goodtimes replied to tesma's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hi tesma; i like the rest of the guys said, its pretty scary. but i wanted to share a story with you. on yesterday, a woman here died at the company where I work at. (i don't want to scare you) she was a very obese woman. It sadden me because I was just talking to her last week but also, she was finally trying to eat right. she was starting the adkins diet. its not an overnight thing for us to gain this weight. Its just like keeping a food journal, you won't be so quick to waste your calories on some junk food so when you get the band, you will really think more about what will happen if you over do it. stay encouraged, stay uplifted and stay on this forum!!! -
Advice: Have to lose 20 lbs...
goodtimes replied to Peanut's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What worked for me and still does a Food Journal. dailyplate.com is so simple. it asks for you to pick a goal for calorie counting. I actually hiked mine's up from 1200-1500 but I also worked out. peanut that protein is very important. it fills you up!!! and you won't be so quick to waste your calorie intake on some foolishness!!! you go girl!!!! -
I don't want to diet before banding or pre-op diet. Is this normal?
goodtimes replied to hopefull loser's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was thinking the same thing. Isn't that the real reason why we took the psych with the dr. in the beginning? I always believed that it was always a made up mind thing. My doctors always said that this only a tool. and once we begin to realize that, we will always have that old mind set. Question: women when we have our monthly friends visiting, its either something sweet or salty; okay so instead of a candy bar, why can't we eat something that is healthy and still satisfy our sweet tooth. Again, its a mind thing -

I just want to release!!! I spoke with a co-worker who is also obese. 2 years ago, we always used to talk about contemplating about the gastric. so this afternoon he nows talk about how its such a bad idea. a lot of people he knows are having problems with the surgery. so i had to get a little bit more indepth why are they having problems:cry he ended up saying that they don't eat right, they always are sick etc. so i was up here wondering why he would say that umph!!!!

I am getting cold feet about banding!!
goodtimes replied to MariaS's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I too worried about that. I asked my surgeon will I sag much. Now that I think about it, how would he know. everyone's bodies are different!!! but i do agree that strenght training and aerobics can begin the journey. but by no means try not to let it stop you getting the surgery. -
