My story begins about 9 years ago. After battling my weight and diets most of my life, I decided to have lapband surgery. It took me about 2 years but I lost 80 pounds, making it down to 150 pounds from my starting weight of 230. I loved my new body; buying clothes was fun again. Little did I imagine that by losing weight, the fertility Gods would decide to smile on me and I unexpectedly became pregnant with my son. Upon my husbands insistance, I had all of the fluid removed. I proceeded to gain back all of the weight I had lost. So after the birth, I was back to square one with my weight.
I started to fill my band again but I had many issues. I had a leak in my tubing, so they had to go in and fix that. Then my port flipped over and they fixed that. Then about 2 years ago, they replaced it with a brand new band. I never could reach my sweet spot. One fill and I would be too tight. The next fill they would take out too much. About 1 year ago, I decided to have all the fluid removed because I was miserable. It was the weekend so my surgeon's office was closed. I went to the ER where I was told they did emergency unfills after hours. Two hours had passed and 3 different people tried but nobody could find my port! I couldn't believe it. I left and later that week I went to my surgeon who had no trouble finding my port. He removed all but 2 cc and that is where I am at, now 1 year later.
I decided to research the sleeve, which led me to my consult with Dr. Kim on Friday of this week. I can't wait to start my new journey!!
