I found BariaticPal when I realised that having support from a community was needed as this journey we have embarked on is for a lifetime.

During the 15 months since my surgery I have changed many habits and have enjoyed getting to know myself and drinking water!!!
The weight has been very slow to shift after the initial weight loss but as I have several metabolic conditions one of which is hypothyroidism I had been counselled by the medical team that weight loss may take time. It has! No regrets as I am in this for the long haul although I would have been thrilled to have become a skinnier me quicker. That's life!
I have 3 children, 2 who have high functioning autism, One more severe but all have grown up as successful adults with degrees, the third with a doctorate in Biochemistry, socially well adjusted and more importantly to me happy. It was a tough journey and I guess like so many others you lose your self when life is always in crisis. I home schooled two and worked casually nights as I could in nursing my husband worked full time to help pay fot therapies etc.
