Yes, it's called the 3-week stall but it happened to me at 2 weeks also. Your body just went thru so much and it's adjusting. Just keep drinking water and getting in your protein and walking whenever you can--your body will catch up!

It's easy to find non-GMO tofu--you can get it at pretty much any grocery store. Asian markets also sell homemade tofu or you can make it yourself.

Need Birthday Meal Ideas
TES replied to Canary Diamond's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Happy Birthday! I might try to do a Mexican meal. You could have some chicken cooked in Mexican spices and refried beans with cheese. My birthday was about 5 weeks after my surgery and I got an ice cream maker for my bday and made one of the Eggface protein ice cream recipes. It tasted like heaven. Hope you have a wonderful day! -
My husband and I each have our own drawer in the fridge. He puts all of his meat in his since I'm a vegetarian and I put the food I don't want to share in mine. Everything else is fair game.

It used to be believed that women who carried more weight had a higher BMD (bone mineral density) but a couple of recent studies actually have disproven that theory. With that said, I am also 5 foot 5, and I would be ecstatic at 150 lbs. And I have seen pics of CJ and she looks just right.

How do you convince your friends and family you're not having a heart attack ?
TES replied to AmyInOrlando's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Actually, I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to agree with your family/friends. I would go to the urgicare or ED and have it checked out. I don't think that the chest/jaw pain etc. is normal. My surgeon repairs hiatal hernias in about 90 percent of his VSG patients, so it's not that uncommon and really shouldn't be causing some of the issues that you are describing. Maybe it could be gas but I wouldn't want to guess and would recommend having a skilled physician check it out. -
I saw a friend a few days ago whom I hadn't seen in a couple of months. She was going on about how much weight I've lost. When we were leaving, she said, "You need new pants, yours look loose." I was laughing, because all of my slacks had been falling off so I had just gone and bought 2 pairs of new ones the day before and I was wearing one of them. I guess I should have gone down another size? LOL. I'm going to exchange the second pair for the next size down instead of wearing them. Actually I don't think they would fit quite yet, but hopefully soon!! I'm down 4 pants sizes since surgery in Feb! Down in tops and undergarments also.

Surgery postponed i am devasted
TES replied to dollyhazel's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So sorry to hear this. Were you given and options such as getting some pre-surgery counseling to deal with the issues before the psychologist would clear you? -
Do you take statins by any chance? They can cause rhabdomylosis in some people. Some doctors recommend taking Coenzyme Q10 supplementation to help. Statins deplete CoQ10 in our blood and perpetuate the problem.

she pinned it on your board? I am confused.

Sending you positive thoughts and praying everything goes well with the remainder of your pregnancy. When is your due date?

I wore mine for at least 4 weeks. My abdominal muscles felt week and it helped me feel protected and made changing positions easier. I also felt like it protected my incisions if I was out shopping or something. I really liked having it.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I am a twin and I know that the loss of one twin during pregnancy is sadly more common than people know. I believe that the risks of morbid obesity and pregnancy are much higher than losing weight at a reasonable weight during pregnancy. If you are worried, perhaps your ob and RD can suggest a plan to keep your weight stable during pregnancy, if they agree that is the best approach. Keeping you in my thoughts.

Surgery tomorrow morning!
TES replied to Keith Goin' for 200's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wishing you all the best! -
Ideally, if you could get a bariatric surgeon to do your post-surgical follow up and also see an internal medicine physician, you would be all set.

a lot of places don't take travelers' checks anymore--you are better off with a credit card, even a preloaded one.

how many times have you all heard thhis?
TES replied to marfar7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What about potato soup (Imagine makes a really good one in a box in the soup aisle)? You could also try Kiefer thinned out with a little soy milk and some Torani syrup added. Hot chocolate with protein powder--just make sure the temp of the liquid isn't too hot when you add the protein--just a bit above lukewarm. Can you do pureed bean soup or is that considered a soft food? Maybe you could ask your RD if you could do that if it was thinned out with some veggie stock. The full liquid stage is the worst--sending you positive thoughts. Hopefully it will go quickly. -
I can't seem to get used to NOT drinking with my meals!
TES replied to Im14fun's topic in Food and Nutrition
I find that I can quit drinking right before I eat--I only need to wait about 5 minutes if it's water. But I usually need to wait at least half an hour and sometimes 45 minutes before drinking after eating. So at a restaurant, I'll order a drink when we first get there, drink what I want, then put it aside before the food comes. I get so annoyed when the food and drink come out at the same time. Then my food is cold by the time I can eat. Sometimes now I will order a drink and wait to order my food because of that, where before if it was someplace I knew the menu, we would just order both at once. -
How do you know it was waffles and not pancakes? lol. I know what you mean though. I have made some pretty good high-protein waffles in the past (not since surgery, but previously when I did low carb). Might be worth checking out.

These all sound like good things to me! Maybe your head is just having trouble catching up with your body? Have you gone to any counseling or support group. Hang in there--and congratulations on your success.

Dillard's is having a big bra sale this weekend--went and got a few yesterday to get me thru the next couple of months. The ones I had bought in May were two sizes too big.

They are a relatively higher carb protein source (compared with meat or soy protein), but they are tasty and have lots of good fiber. some people subtract fiber to get net carbs.
