  1. well now that the date is closing in I am finding that I am nervous of course but so far so good in staying calm. I start pre-op diet, which sounds fun, in a week and am sure I will be a bit grumpy. anyone out there have an suggestions to help make it easier?
  2. Anyone else having anxiety to the whole sex issue? For example I can't wait to start slimming down and start having more of it! I get nervous about issues after and how soon i can but the doctor said its all on how I feel. I know it may seem shallow but I like sex. It was a part of my life before I gained all this weight and i am hoping it can be part of it more often again. It was always hard to do whenI got larger and I could not be nearly as adventurous. It caused issues in my relationship. My biggest worry is that the self esteem issues will still make me shy in that department. Sorry just had to vent it out there. Hoping for a spicier after.
  3. ok ok...now that I made my choice and decided to change my weight I have had time to think about some of the things I look forward to after I go through the operation and begin my change in lifestyle. I look forward to learning to eat better, put myself first instead of last, get in better shape, weigh less, laugh more, smile more, buy smaller clothes, look ok tan, be able to swim without a shirt on, and improve my sex life and make it hot! Shallow and silly to some these reasons are, and maybe a little TMI but they are the things that keep me motivated.
  4. Having made the choice to move forward, I felt relieved. As I have moved along in the process I find more and more relief. There is something almost calming to have such support in this community. I am nervous about the procedure but also very optimistic about the future. Which is something I had not really been for some time. Does anyone else out there feel the same? No one said the journey would be easy but to take charge of my future feels amazing.
  5. I know that I am supposed to watch what eat etc. However I am firmly what you would call an emotional eater, i am nervous about when I am post op transferring that method of coping over. I am working on correcting that issue but it's hard to turn off years of a method that worked (even if temporarily) I am dealing with issues regarding my ex wife lately and I have found that as my stress rises so does my urge to eat. anyone have any good tips out there for ways to curb this bad habit?
  6. I finally decided on Lahey. It's closer to me. I definitely don't want to have to drive into town all the time either. I am a Lahey patient to begin with so it just made more sense. What a relief to have reached decision!
  7. Met with my dr this morning laid out how this all works and got a lot of questions answered. Have more appointments set up for next week(as I am off) hoping to get as much done as I can. BCBS has been amazing to work with. It's going so good so far seems too good to be true. Have I finally started to reach the light at the end of the tunnel?
  8. ok so that more pro votes for lahey burlington. Michelle4873- had you looked at any other places or just went with Lahey? They seem to move quick which is nice. Pinkputter- How has the post support been from Lahey?

    The defining moment you knew

I decided something had to change when I saw pictures from a friend's wedding and I could not recognize myself anymore. What I was doing to my body was insane. Something had to give. I was tired of the looks, the comments, the constant feeling of being judged. I know people who have tried all different methods and have had success and failures. I just am hoping this choice works out to be the best for me.
  10. I am really looking for peoples input on how and why the decided to go with the hospital/program they chose. I have looked into many and am torn on which would work best. I have looked at MGH, Metrowest, and Lahey Burlington. I think I have decided that surgery is the best option for me and now begins the 12 millions questions...cost, recovery length, positive outcomes, risks, etc....so any help is appreciated

    NEW TO ALL THIS

I know people who have had surgery and some had success and some have had major complications. I had looked into MGH's weight loss program as well as MetroWest's and Lahey Clinic. I am leaning towards Lahey if I decide to go that way just because I have gone there for other procedures and appointments and really had good experiences. I would love to know if other people have used the surgical team there and what they thought. I have struggled with weight for a long time and I feel this may be a great option for me but it also sometimes bugs me that I can't keep the weight off when dieting. Makes me feel like a failure. Which I am sure people can relate.
  12. I am new to even just thinking about the entire surgical weightloss options. I was hoping to find out what encouraged or motivated others to decide to finally go through with surgery. I still am struggling with the pros and cons of it all.
