Hey Michael, once I had the surgery I stayed on plan for three or four months. No alcohol. Then I introduced a glass of wine every now and then. After a while I had a glass of scotch every now and then. Now 6 months out and 110 lbs lost, I just returned from a week long motorcycle trip with the guys. I drank alcohol everyday including beer and ate anything I wanted. I did gain a couple of pounds and now I'll have to get back to the plan and stay away from bad food and drink again but you can hang out with the guys. It's just like everything else. Moderation.

Any motorcycle riders out there? I was sleeved in March. I've lost 105lbs. I'm experiencing something I never thought would happen. The center of gravity has change when I ride my bike. It's a wonderful thing when I'm riding solo but when I have my girlfriend on the back (she weighs about 160lbs) I have a lot of problems holding the bike up going around slow turns and coming to a stop. I'm an experienced rider with 50 years of motorcycling under my belt so it's not a case of the newbies. I'm not complaining mind you. I'll take the weight loss over a little instability anytime. I'm just a bit surprised of this one change in my life I never expected.

march sleevers the good and the bad
rickster7753 replied to thriving1726's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on March 20th. One night in the hospital and back at work on the 27th. I'm still in the full liquid stage and I'm having no problems getting them in. I'm getting about 50 grams of protein in a day. I'm down 11 lbs since surgery and over 30 including pre op. I can't wait til I can start puréed foods. Looking forward to chewing again and I'm really curious about how my new sleeve will react to food. -
March 20th sleevers
rickster7753 replied to Nicole 2013's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Nicole, yes I had some cream of chicken soup. I really didn't like so I only had a few ounces. I know this is head hunger and I'm missing eating. Between my pre-op diet and post op stages I've been on a liquid diet for almost a month. Today at work they brought in pizza for everyone. I went for a walk hoping I could avoid being around it. But, it was all still there when I got back. I think that's when it started. I'm feeling better now and appreciate that in just over 3 1/2 weeks over lost over 30 lbs. I'm just whining. How you doin? -

Hmm. My doc still has me on liquids for another week. You were cleared for puréed one week out? Anyone else? -
Saw Dr Chau today. I left there at about 1:15. Was that you sitting in the waiting room?
-
No kidding! Congrats! Did he tell you 6 weeks until you can ride again?
-
Doing great! Overdid it today a bit. Went out shopping for a few hours and didn't hydrate very well but relaxing now and sipping a protein shake. Going back to work tomorrow and hope to make it a full day.

March 20th sleevers
rickster7753 replied to Nicole 2013's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm doing two protein shakes a day along with diet iced tea, flavored water, decaf coffee, sf jello or anything I can try to mix it up. I'm getting in my 48-64 oz but its not easy. Lots of cramping unless I take it really slow. But, down 5 lbs since surgery. Love it! -
How are fellow March 19/20 sleevers doing?
rickster7753 replied to WeightStruggle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, not so good on the Protein yet. I'm getting about 40 grams in but the doc said not to worry about that yet. I think I can squeeze in 60 tomorrow though. Good luck on your journey! -

Sleeved on Wednesday. Feel pretty good. The only pain I have is from the largest incision where they took the remains of my stomach out. Doc said they stitched the muscle there. Getting all my fluids in including my shakes. Really happy I did this so far. -
Ahh home. Very painful ride home but much better now. Having a little trouble getting in my liquids but working on it.

I have to be at the hospital at 6:16 am. No citrate for me. Good luck everyone! See you on the other side sitting on the losers bench!

I haven't cheated since I started my pre-op two weeks ago. I'm down 18 lbs! Tonight, for some reason, I want to eat everything in sight but I won't. I'm in surgery at 8:30 am. Less than 36 hours to go! Lets do this!
-
One week to go 20 er's! Are you ready? Have you been sticking to your pre-op diets? Are you as nervous as I am?
-
So today marked day 6 of my pre-op diet. I've generally been doing pretty good with it. I realize I have to do this and I've put my mind to it to get it done. Today was a very busy day. We've recently finished our basement and I had lots to do building shelves and hanging pictures. Right after I started working my knees started to throb. Then my back began to ache. After about an hour I got nauseas and a bit woozy. I struggled through the rest of the day taking many breaks and resting my knees and my back. Once the day was done, I took a shower and realized why I'm about to have life changing surgery in 10 days. Sure, I'd like to look hot again (or as hot as a 60 year old guy can) but after today the real reason came out. I can't live anymore carrying about 150 lbs of extra weight. Although my doc says I'm the healthiest fat guy he's ever seen, I know that if my joints and muscles are breaking down so badly from this weight, the rest of my body can't be far behind. Looking good will be a great side affect from my surgery but truly the best benefit will be being healthy once again.
