My only regret is that I completely forgot to ask my surgeon to take a picture of my stomach he removed! It's gross but would have been soooooooo cool to see!

I'm almost 6 weeks out and I'm below 800 calories a day. I get 50 grams of protein a day at least because of my 2 shakes but DAMN I'm barely eating anything! I'm not hungry often and when I'm not hungry I can't eat... It just makes me ill. I'm waiting to hear back from my surgeon about this so I thought I'd post it here to see what vets and other people who have experience did about this. Thanks!

Need Energy! And more water!
fatrosie replied to KjinGrl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do you take any kind of psych meds or do you suffer from bi polar/ depression/ anxiety? I take two different psych meds for depression and anxiety. My surgeon told me that if would take several months for me to get back to a normal energy level due to the meds and the depression causing chemicals in my brain. My emotional status is perfectly fine. I'm happy and emotionally stable, but I have no energy!!! Idk if you do or not, but thought this might help. -
Chardgirl thanks! I was messing around with my phone before they wheeled me in to the OR and got some cute pics.

Yeah! It's not medicated or anything so treat it just like a lotion
-
Been using it 5 weeks now and definitely seeing firmer, brighter, and tighter results!

So my mother got a voicemail this morning who heard I had VSG (I have no idea how she knows). I quote "I don't know if you know this, but Rosie really needs to change her diet or she's not going to keep the weight off. Surgery doesn't fix the problem". NO. FREAKING. WAY. REALLY??? And then she went on to suggest "healthy things" I could eat and offer her guidance.... She's a realtor, not a NUT. "You know when I had my kid I worked really hard to lose 25 pounds and I've kept it off! I think she could learn from my story". Like I could relate to that. At all. I know what's healthy and what's not. I know how to lose weight. I'm a freaking expert at weight loss! We all are here. After all the practice we've had at doing it for three months here, two months there, the first week of January every year... If we were able to use out knowledge of what's good for us and bad for us in our own lives, we wouldn't need surgery. I've also had a friend of my moms and say "I don't know if you've tried it, but exercise really help with weight loss". LIGHTBULB! Why didn't I think of that? I have no idea how to react when people give me "advice" like that. How do you handle it when people treat you like you're totally uneducated and inexperienced in the world of health???

Do people really do this s**t?
fatrosie replied to fatrosie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
On a somewhat related note, I was downtown today and crossing the street talking to my (thin) friend and the driver of the at waiting for us to cross shouted "can you move any slower fatty??" I've never gotten a comment like that it been called names by a complete stranger so I have no idea what to do. I'm down 30+ pounds in a month and was feeling really good about it until this incident. -

Haha I'm glad to know I'm not alone in this! I have to try some of the great responses mentioned here. Some of the "advice" I get makes me feel like I'm in health class again! I've been in weight watchers, Atkins, Jenny Craig, etc since I was nine. Yet apparently I don't know that "water will help curb hunger when you want to snack". Pfffffttttttt. -
Lying about Weight Loss Surgery !
fatrosie replied to sarahzamudio1091's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sometimes I don't tell people just because I'm not really in the mood to explain VSG to them at the moment. I'm ok with answering questions and reassuring people I won't die from malabsorption etc. but occasionally I'm just not down to answer all of their questions. -
Seeing food you cant have
fatrosie replied to brandy88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel ya! I'm starting to want food I didn't even like before the surgery. I'm a vegetarian and KFC looks and smells soooo good now. I'm living on yogurt, cottage cheese, fake meat, and vegetarian chili. I'm 1 month out and I drool over everything! -
@mini me I got it at a beauty supply store that carries all of the palmers products. They also have a body polish that I love. It's called Olympia beauty supply, it's a chain but I don't know if you have one near you. It was only 8 bucks.

@lee316 I'm not sure if it does, but I've heard stories. People who do skin brushing and apply lotions like palmers have reported great post weight loss skin results. Genetics definitely play a part but id do everything in my power to fight the extra skin! I'm only 25 lbs down so far so I can't report much except that my flabby bits (arms, inner thighs, booty) are much less flabby and jiggly with 2x a day use! I also put it on my boobs to fight sagging

My older sister had RNY about 2 years ago and had been sick ever since. Her weight fell off and she's tiny but she's in the ER all the time! I get frustrated sometimes with the sleeve, feeling like it isn't useful, but I'm sure glad I'm not in her shoes!

is anyone 1 month post op?
fatrosie replied to angelal1213's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been bouncing between 241 and 239 for two weeks! Grr. I'm down about 23 pounds since surgery though. I'm eating about 1/4 to 1/2c a meal. My surgery date was 2/12. -
So it's one month tomorrow. I'm down 23 pounds. I don't see a huge difference but here are the pics. The black top is the night before surgery. The pink top is today. I've been stalled for 2 weeks but I'm trying to not get discouraged! The last pic is an update on how my scars are healing.

Thanks guys.... I guess I'm just being really impatient!
-
I put it on my boobs 2x a day in hopes they won't become pancake boobs once I lose more. Wishful thinking I guess
-
I also forgot to mention that I use it 2x a day
-
I just wanna run by downtown fiction. Best cardio song evahhhhhhh.

Well I'm only a few weeks and 23 pounds down, but I've been using palmers firming butter 2x a day and its really seeming firmer. I'm hoping it will keep up like this for the 100 lbs I have left to lose. My surgeon informed me that I have extra elastic skin so when it comes to scarring I'm screwed, but loose skin shouldn't be much of a problem. Ill report more on the firming butter with time. Also, palmers coco butter is the greatest! Especially for that dry skin after surgery. My skin has never felt softer on my hands and feet. Check out the palmers line. I really like their products.

Would you have paid without insurance coverage?
fatrosie replied to Houston17's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My insurance doesn't cover WLS even if you're dying from the co-morbidities and it could save your life. Lame. I did self-pay in the us and paid just around 20k.
