I keep finding that things I used to like I no longer can stand after surgery. For instance, I have loved apple juice my entire life but cannot drink it to the point of gaging since surgery. I also cannot stand the flavor of jellos. I also now LOVE gatorade. Never even liked the stuff before but now it's the best thing since sliced bread. Same experience with some gravy my mom made the other day and some soup I made. Before I would have thought it was okay or not a big deal now it tastes soo super good. Anyone else experiencing this?

FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved

Protein shots? I have never heard of any such thing? Do they work? How are they on you? I wish I had that problem. If I didn't crave sweets I wouldn't have needed the surgery. But, the craving hasn't been super bad at all since surgery other than once in while it rears it's head and I fix it with a protein shake. I'm still waiting for mine. It's taking forever. I feel like I'm PMSing 24/7 since I got home. I don't know if it's PMS or just my brain being a brat since I can't eat what it wants or how much it wants so it feels deprived. Damn head hunger. I was told by DR and multiple nurses that there is no issues with NSAID after our stomach heals because our stomach will be like a normal stomach, just smaller rather than those who go with bypass or DS. It seems, from my researching various doctors that a lot will just say no NSAID to all patients because it is easier to say that then specifically say this group can have this but this group can't. -
I got revised in one surgery. I had a slip with erosion and a CRAP TON of scar tissue. It took my surgeon a bit longer for surgery (3.5 hours) because of all the scar tissue but everything went fine.

Band to Sleeve Revision - Half my size in 11 1/2 months - Down 143 lbs!
May2013 replied to want2bthin's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Congrats! And thank you for posting this. I am worried constantly about my weight loss being slower since I'm a revision (I also have PCOS with Insulin resistance) and I find myself frequently comparing my weight loss to others as well as to when I was loosing weight with the band. Especially since I also find myself able to eat more than others seem to be able to. I guess I need to back off my own back. -
Hi, I was born and raised in Federal Way. Moved to Montana for 3 years and just moved back to Federal Way in December. I just had my revision to sleeve 2/7/13 so I'm a newbie at the sleeve.

I still gulp and have had no bad things. It just happens, not necessarily intentional. I don't get any gas or burping from it, any extra than pre surgery that is. I just can't drink as much as I used to at a time. -

No issues that I know of. I haven't experienced any. I chewed them very good while on clear liquids and waited to start the calcium until I was allowed full liquids. I was told you could even such on hard candy as long as sugar free. That's the only way I made it on the plane I took a few days after surgery. -

I use chew-able gummy vitamins for adults not children's. They are kinda fun to take and I feel like a kid when I go for the yummy flavored one. I also am on a calcium chew and it's chocolate flavored so it's like my little cheat every day -

I used the neosporin with pain medication and it helps numb it a bit so no itching. No issues from it at all. -

The itching is horrible. I don't remember it itching this bad with my last surgery. And nothing makes it better! -
Lane Bryant also carries Spanx in bigger sizes too, for those just starting with the weight loss.

It seems that every doctor has patients on a different diet whether pre or post op. My friend had her surgery and had post op of 4 weeks clear liquid. I had no where near that. Another one of my friends is pre op and is on a month long pre op diet of liquids but I was on low carb for two weeks then given a free day the night before surgery. It's all over the board. I don't understand why there isn't a more across the board standard. -

I haven't been pushing myself or anything this last week, just taking it easy but yesterday seemed rough. I slept 10 hours during the day was up for maybe 3 then slept another 8. Yesterday, when I was awake I was jittery. Like I had too much caffeine or something. And still super cold even though it was warm in the house. I hate this not getting warm business. What's the deal with it the anesthesia or something? -
Are you talking about the infamous belt (As my doctor refers to it)?

I still haven't had a normal BM. It's a fine line and if I'm not careful I too will be in that situation. It's like everytime after I eat or when was on just liquids after I had a non fruit juice or something with more carbs I could almost time it. -

I had a band to VSG also. I missed the chewing as well. I was sucking on sugar free hard candies and would chew on them and it worked for me. I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop since I was a post surgery dry heaver as well. I kept telling the nurse to get me something and she would say I'd be fine and I'd be like NO I NEED SOMETHING! I'M GONNA RIP SOMETHING! Finally, she called doctor and got me something to help. I was off pain meds end of day 2 post op, only took one on my way home due to sleeping in a bed my last night rather than hospital bed. Did you have a lot of scar tissue from your band? I had a whole crap ton! And what I would call food nightmares to boot of eating and blowing something out! -

How to get in all the food and liquid after surgery?
May2013 replied to FatMamaw's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm only 9 days post op so I'm just starting to introduce mushies/softs but even a couple days after surgery I haven't had issue getting my liquid in if I make myself drink. I notice I don't get thirsty like I used to (I used to be a water *****). But, if I haven't had the issue of needing to sip. My stomach never swelled much so I didn't have that issue thankfully. -
Drains...how long before your's healed completly?
May2013 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I'm 9 days post op today. My drain was removed 6 days ago and is still gooing. Not a massive amount by any means. It was itching like crazy the last two days and still itchy today so I know it is healing but just curious how long it took for yours to completely heal or heal to the point that you didn't need bandages over it? It went a couple days with out goo so I started using a band aid but found out my error when I got goo all over my shirt so put a bandage back on. It only really goos enough so you can see the area of it, not past the diameter of the drain hole although a good part of that could be when I remove a bandage it seems to take the scab too but I was told to change bandages when I shower and I ran into a few older ones I had that were falling apart so I was changing it once a day for a few days. -

My drain site is where they removed my stomach. Suregon's nurse didn't say anything when I told her so I'm assuming all is good. Someone suggested I wash it with soap and water every day but it's still an open wound! No thank you! -
Yea, I understand that. I didn't know my friend had wls at first and started asking as a possible idea to prevent saggy skin and she admitted to surgery. Idk, I figure it's worth a try. I'm a woman of the scientific method. I've been engineered to not believe in such things but the proof is in the pudding so I'll give it a try.

I figured I would wait to have some saggy skin but then realized when I gained weight back after my evil band I gained it in a different area so I still have saggy skin from previous lost weight I can try it on.

Have any of you used it works global wraps? I'm not trying to sell them or anything. I have a friend who did sleeve over a year ago. Her and hubby had their surgeries a few weeks apart and have used the wraps since a week post op. They both swear by them. They have no sagging skin. She's showed me and I was thinking of trying one but need my area where drain was to heal more.

I only wanted to weigh myself weekly too but everytime I go into the bathroom that darn scales is staring at me. I am allowing every other day for weigh ins just mostly out of curioristy but if I notice myself starting to get obsessed I'll kick it back to weekly. I only count one of my weigh ins though, my Thursday weigh in is my exact week so I use it for tracking and goals. So far one week out I'm 10 pounds down. Which is what I managed to do in my two weeks of pre-op diet. So it works for me. -
Before I left the hospital I was sick of being on R side and back. I used a pillow on my R side partially under back to prop me up and then another pillow over by L side to help protect it. At a week post op I can even lay on my stomach, not fully for a night but for a little bit at a time and tilted more to my right side. I have a huge exercise ball and can even go on it on my stomach as long as I continue to support body with my hands as well.
