  1. Never dumb or senseless. It's normal. Like everyone just said, keep your goal up front and center. I have 2 friends who had the surgery 5 months ago. One lost 85 freakin pounds already! The other is close behind. They both love it and are so happy! Surround yourself with positive people and positive friends. That's what I'm doing and it helps! Yeah we all are aware of "what can happen" and it's good to be aware. But the last thoughts I want to have before surgery are happy positive ones. Stick with us. There are a lot of positive happy people here to help
  2. Yes! So many times I look in the mirror and think that I'm not that bad and I question why I'm doing this. Then reality reminds me that if I was able to reach and stay at my goal weight, I would already be there I'm ready to break that mirror!

    Found My True Friends

It's good to get rid of toxic relationships!!!! Surround yourself with positive people and positive things!
  4. I chose sleeve also for the same reasons: better absorption of nutrients, quicker recovery time. Also my dr felt it would be the best choice. I can't wait!
  5. I'd love to join! Surgery is march 20. VERY excited! I've been reading some very encouraging posts from people who have already had their sleeve. They love it and seem to be so happy with it.

    The waiting game

Saw my dr December 31 for first consultation. Then i had all my tests. Scheduled for surgery march 20. I have bcbs New York. For me, it all depended on how fast I could get all my appointments done. Once I had my 2nd consultation, they submitted my approvals to the insurance and I was approved 2 days later.
  8. I happen to LOVE metrx. It's pretty high on protein but I love the taste.

My surgeon is dr angstadt from st Charles hospital. They will not operate if you are smoking. Not even the e-cigs are accepted but every doctor is different.

    completely freaking out!

You are not alone. I think we all have (and should) spend time thinking about this surgery. You would be careless if you didn't think about all sides so its a good thing. But the important thing to remember is that it's a good start to gaining control of your life. If you are taking certain meds, you may find you don't need them anymore once the weight comes off. Wow what a plus! So many other good things will trickle down. We all have eachother on this site. I read all the posts and try to keep things in perspective. My experience won't be the same as someone else's. this helps to keep me from freaking out. Just keep posting. We will hold you up. You will hold us up when it's our turn! . My date is march 20
  20. My doctor said the reason for the liquid diet is to shrink down your liver which lays on top of your stomach a little. He explained that if he has to lift it, something can happen. He said that if he were to look at my liver right now, it most likely has fatty tissue around it. The liquid diet makes the surgery easier and less complications can happen. I plan on incorporating fat free pudding, jello, string cheese just if I feel a little woozy. But then 4 days before, strictly protein drinks. I just can't do shakes all day so IF I need a little something, that's what I may fall back on to help. I have 2 friends who have been very successful with their sleeves and this is how they handled the 2 week liquid diet thing
