Spring into March 2010 Bandsters
huntersmom replied to NYSparklegirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi, I was just rebanded on March 22nd. I was first banded in June of 2007. Had many issues with first band. All I did was throw up all the time. I changed surgeons and he redid my band. He said the first one I had was too small. He put in a bigger one. It does feel like I am starting all over again. I did gain some weight back, because with the old band I could eat cookies and chips and other junk food like that. -
Well guess what. I need to get rebanded. All I have been doing is throwing up for months. I didn't know that was not normal for a bander. I went to the surgeon and he told me I need a bigger band. I have a 4cc band with no fluid in it and I eat crap all the time because that is all that goes through the band. I have gained 12 pounds back. I guess I am lucky it is only 12. I have a real hard time eating food. Some times I think it is a waste of money for me to eat and just throw it up. I will let you guys know what is going on as it happens. I hope all the rest of you are doing well.

I have had reflux problems too. Needed a total unfill. Have gained a few pounds back. I do need to exercise more too. I like junk food too much also.
-
I haven't checked in in a while. Not much changed here. I haven't lost any more weight. Haven't gained any either. Would like to lose a lot more but nothing seems to be happening.
-
It's funny I used to check in here a couple times a day before I was banded and right after banded. Now I am lucky to remember to check once a week. I am not sure where everyone went or is in the same boat as me.

Stef, I am so glad to see you back. It seems like everyone has missed you. I have not done well either. I need a good butt kicking also. I do not do a food journal. I have a very busy life and will start one and never even finish one day. We got Wii fit for Christmas. I am hoping that I will be able to use it often and get some exercise in.

Name........Challenge start wgt.......current wgt.....chall. goal.....To go. Dakota1984....... 211......................211......................199................1 2 Suzzzie.............. 305....................305.....................285...............20 Huntersmom...165............165.............150........15 I am glad someone started this I have wanted to do this for a long time but I wasn't sure if anyone would join me. If I understand this right we have until the end of the year to get to our goal right? I want to do this so bad. I need a little butt kicking. Thanks!!!! -
Suzzzie as you see from my last post you are not alone. I have only lost two pounds in the last six months. I understand the whole ice cream thing. Some nights I cannot get supper down at all but I can eat a pint of ice cream without a problem. I have read some where that cold things go down easier than hot/warm things. They said that cold things makes the opening bigger and warm things make it smaller. I guess that is why it is really easy to eat ice cream.

KT I am glad you have done so well. I am not one of the banders that has. I have trouble with making good choices. I have to admit I love my chocolate. It is too hard for me to give up. I try to be good for a while but it never lasts. I know I have to exercise more and watch what I eat. It is going to take me a long while to get to a goal. Who knows if I will ever get there. I still think banding is good for me. I probably would have gained so much weight if I didn't have it done.

I have the Mirena IUD also. I love it because I haven't had a period in over 4 years. I want my husband to get a Vas done. He is very scared though. I told him I pushed out two kids and it was his turn to do something. I have had light period when I had them except when I first got my period. My mother only used pads. I hated them. When a friend introduced me to tampons that is the only thing I would use now. I sometimes use pads at night. I do not like leaving a tampon in for too long of time. I am a little afraid after I have the Mirena taken out that my periods would be different. I am closer to menopause and some people get very heavy period before. It happened to my mother and Aunt.

Suzzzie I can relate to your weight gain. I have not lost any weight in such a long time. I have gained just a little bit of weight and it is so hard to take off. I am not exercising so I know that is one of my problems. I do not choose all the right food. I like junk food too much especially chocolate. I am at a point now that I almost wish I did gastric bypass. I don't feel like I will ever get to my goal weight. I realize that the band is just a tool. I need a little butt kicking around here. I don't even look like I have really lost any weight. I can still fit into all my clothes from pre-surgery. I am down 40 pounds and that is it. I hope your puppy gets better. My two cats has or had a case of fleas and it seems they will never stop scratching.

I have noticed that I am much tighter in the morning now. It takes about 3 hours to get a smoothie down but after that a small lunch and then it feels wide open. I can eat almost anything at night. I don't want to get another fill because I could be totally closed off in the morning.

I have only lost 39 pounds over the year. You are not alone. My doctor told me that it might take 3 to 4 years to take all the weight off. Everyone is different. I do not exercise a lot so that is my biggest downfall. I feel the weight will come off in its on time depending on what i eat or how much exercise i get. Don't beat yourself up. Remember you are 30 pounds down not up.

Bob, I also know two people that have had a bypass done. One of them has gained all her weight back plus some. The other is doing great because she watches what she does and eats. It does seem to take a lot longer for a bander to lose weight but it seems like we keep it off for a lot longer if not for always. I have been banded for just over a year. I have lost 39 pounds so far. I only have to lose 90 altogether. My doctor told me that it would probably take two to three years to take all my weight off. I am not the perfect bander. I like junk food way too much. It is not something that other people can talk you into it, you have to do it for yourself.

I am here too. I do read daily but not too much to say. I am going camping too in a couple of weeks too. I am looking to find if anyone knows of any good tasting premixed smoothie type drinks. We live out of a cooler when we are camping and milk spoils so fast in the heat.

I will be willing to start to look into going to Vegas for a gathering. First we all need to decide when we want to go. I was thinking that a weekend or a long weekend would be the best. I have never been there so I will need so help on where to stay. Most places give discounts on groups of twenty or more. Please post on when will be the best time for you to go and I will try to figure out when is the best for most of us.

Well, I guess I had a good bandiversary. I got a fill on Monday, Today was the first day of food. Don't really feel any different restriction yet but sometimes it sets in later. The good part about today was a customer came in my store and told me that I look like that I have lost some weight. I haven't heard that in a long time. I really do not feel any different or look any different. Same size clothes fit and I am now down 39 pounds. Haven't changed ticker yet.

So, someone mention a couple of days ago about mindset. How do I get the mindset back to dieting and exercising. I remember a year ago being so excited about this. Now almost a year later down only 35 pounds and only one size in clothes and I am not very happy. I thought I would definitely look different by now. I do not see any change at all. Some people tell me that I look great, I just do not feel great. I know I need a fill, I called today for it and the earliest I can get in is June 2nd. I can eat almost anything I want. Sorry for ranting, but I needed to get this off my mind.

Well, Rhonda maybe it is in the name. I am doing awful also. It has finally gotten warm here and I pulled out my shorts from last year thinking they would be baggy. No such luck. They fit the same as last year. I am so disappointed with myself. I have lost some weight but not any inches. I guess it was all from the inside. Some people tell me that I have been looking better but it is the people who only see me about once a month. I am not that good at the exercise or diet thing. I am a huge junk food junkie. The only exercise I really like is walking. I have been trying to do that a few times a week since the weather has cooperated lately. Don't feel too bad about yourself, you are not alone!!!!

Is your band failing you or are you failing your band ?
huntersmom replied to CoachCher's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am failing my band. I am not sure what to do about it either. It has been over 8 months since my last fill. I still have food get stuck and pb some times. I only have 1.5cc in a 4cc band. I have twice made appt. with my surgeon and once was cancelled by them and once cancelled by me. I do need to exercise more too. I like your idea of dieting all week and having one cheat day. Junk food is my biggest challenge. None of it seems to get stuck and all goes down so easy. I try not to buy it but with a husband that can eat anything and not gain weight and have two kids it is hard. I think I need some coaching and some butt kicking. I will be in my second year in June and would like it to be better than my first. -
North of Boston Lap Band Support Group
huntersmom replied to zkelleybelly's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
HI, I live in Beverly and I also need some support but I really do not have alot of time to make it to a live meeting. I also crave a lot of sweets. That is my biggest problem. I do not get enough exercise either. The weather is getting a little better so I will be able to get out and walk. I seem to work well in challenges like exercise or maybe a junk food free challenge. If anyone is up to it lets do it. -
Suzzzie, I am one of those lurkers. I really haven't had much to say. I am on a real bad junk food kick. Easter time is my favorite candy time of year. I will be really glad when it is all gone. I think I am eating more of the kids candy than the kids are. I love chocolate. I know I have gained 4 lbs back. It could be more but I do not weigh myself at home. I was thinking maybe we all could do a junk food free challenge or something like that. I need something to get me off the junk food.
-
Well, You are definitely not alone. I had to go back and see the nurse and I have gained 4 pounds back and probably more than that now. I need a fill but twice the appt was cancelled. I need to call for another appt but my kids always come first and they have been sick. I need alot of encouragement too. I look here for help but I do not seem to get it when I need it. I only post here once in a while but read all the time. I do not get alot of encouragement at home because my husband has the same problem you have. He thinks if I lose weight I will find some one else. I need some one to give me a good kick in the butt to get me going. I also have a sweet tooth that it seems like I cannot live without the chocolate. I am glad to see you back here Musical Momma.
