MM, I am so jealous of your exercising. I took my kids for a walk to the corner store. It is about 2 blocks away. I was in so much incision pain after the walk. I love to walk and my kids do too. I used to walk alot but this first one really hurt I am not sure when I am going to take the next one.

i didn't have gas pains right away. It was two days later and on going. I am trying to walk most of it off. That doesn't always work either. I have tried the gas-x strips and they help a little last night I used some gas-x gel tabs. They seem to help a little more and they didn't stick either. Has anyone had a real belly laugh yet. My son made me laugh and I laughed so hard it hurt.

MM, I feel like I am in the same boat as you. I am so hungry for something else other than water and CIB. My husband cooked kielbasa tonight and it smelled so good. Also some one bbqing in my neighborhood and that drove me a little crazy. You were banded before me, I don't think I will last as long as you have. I am going nuts with out eating.

hey ob2thin, nice name. I am Rhonda also. I didn't like it much when I was a kid. Once I started to get chubby around age 9 to 10 kids used to call me Rounda instead. I know kids cannot be nice but somethings stick with you for years. It is something I will never forget and I hope that is what make me a good bander.

To tell or not to tell?
huntersmom replied to a_new_me's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I chose to tell everyone. I figure I was going to be judged either way. I heard so many stories from people too. You have to do what is good for you. I thought it was going to be hard to explain my pre-surgery diet. -
i have five incisions also. three are small about 1/2 inch and one is about a inch and the other is bigger than that. i am purple all over my stomach. I don't think I will ever wear a bikini anyway so i am not really concerned with the scars. I have too many stretch marks from either gaining too much weight or being pregnant twice.

Does anyone else out there feel like they need to brush their teeth all the time from the protein shakes. My teeth feel like they are always coated with something and I needs to brush them.
-
Toni, Good question. Your problem is probably not the protein shakes. It is probably the medicine you are on. I haven't had a problem being two days out. You may want to get some stool softner. Docusate sodium. Colace is the brand name. Though the brand is very expensive. It also comes in liquid form. If I remember right you are on hydrocodone and that is very constipating. I am a pharmacy technician so I know a few things about it.

Hey does everyone own a scale. I don't own one because I really didn't want to know how much I used to weigh. It used to depress me. Now that I have already lost 19 pounds through pre-op I am wondering if I should purchase a scale. Any suggestions.

Lucy, I am a side sleeper too. The first night in the hospital I just slept on my back with the head raised. Which was a good thing. Easier to get out of bed when needed to go the bathroom. Last night first night home I slept on each side. On my right side first until I woke up at 4am to go the bathroom then my left side which was a litlle scary because my 3 year old was in bed with us because he had a nightmare. I was so afraid he was going to kick me. Lucky though he didn't. My best suggestion is to put a blanket or pillow under your side so when you belly leans one way or another it doesn't hurt as much.

Hi guys just got home. Everything went well. Just a little site sore. I actually got stuff to eat last night and today. Jello, lemon italian ice, chicken broth, and hot tea. i didn't think that they would give me anything but they did.

Well I am off to drop kids off at daycare and then off to the hospital. I was really nervous until I started watching TLC last night. I do not want to go that route. It made me think what I was doing was right. When I am home I will post again on how it went.

I have to be at the hospital at 6:30am. I am going to be in surgery at 8am. My surgeon told me that it was going to take about 45 to 90 minutes for the operation. My cousin is going to stay with my husband while it is going to get done. My anxiety level has just increased tonight.
-
MM, I am glad you are home. From your post I guess I should bring some comfy clothes to wear home. I had my gallbladder out years ago and I remember the gas pains. Mostly in the shoulder area. I bought some gas-x strips just to be ready.
-
MM, I am glad the dr decided to keep you in the hospital. Now a days they send patients home too quickly. I hope you will be fine. Thanks for checking in. I am starting to get nervous about my surgery on Monday. I was excited up to this point. I am still excited, but the nerves are kicking in. Toni, for the fact you are doing so well makes it a little easier for me.

I hope all went well with the June 1st bandsters. I have to work all day tomorrow so I will read post and catch up in the evening.
-
Good luck to all of you that are going in tomorrow. I will be thinking of you.

musicalmomma, I think my sons are thinking like your kids. They keep offering me food. Boy would I like to take it. Been on liquids now for 8 days and 6 to go and I am going to make it, though I think this week is harder than the first week.

Hi, I am from Beverly and I am having my surgery at Salem Hospital on June 4th, by Dr Kastrinakis.
-
2bhealthyagain I felt the same way in the beginning, not wanting to tell everyone, but now i am so excited about having it done i am telling everyone. I am afraid after the surgery and back to eating real food and geez if I want to eat something bad for me I will hear all the flack for it. I am sure everyone is going to be watching me and will have something to say. Take care of yourself and not worry about what other people have to say. My dr told me that it might take about 3 years to take all the weight off. I do realize that it isn't going to happen in a day and I don't think other people know that.
-
Well I am glad to see that I am not the only person struggling with the pre-op diet. I haven't cheated yet, but there has been times I really wanted to. It is hard when my husband and two kids are eating and I just have my shake to drink. I try to go into another room while they are eating. Only 8 more days of this until surgery and then who knows before I will be on real food again.

I went for my pre-op visit today and from being on a liquid diet I am already down 7 pounds. I guess that is a good start.

Hi I am going to be banded on June 4th. I cannot wait. It has been a 4 month wait and it really went by really fast. I am now on a liquid diet. The first couple days was ok, but now I am beginning to get hungry at the smell of any food.
