Suzzzie, I totally understand the bbq thing. I swear I can smell a bbq from miles away. I just started on mushies and it was the best thing since being on liquids for 4 weeks.

is it normal to be a little scared??
huntersmom replied to LovelyLaFleur's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was excited until the night before. It all of a sudden hit me that I was going to have surgery the next day. The best thing that happened for me that Brookhaven obesity clinic was on tv. I knew then I was doing the right thing. I think every one gets nervous about it at some point. -
Eating my way to my surgery date!!!!
huntersmom replied to Bamalama's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I think most of did the last supper thing and gained a few pounds before pre-op diet if they had to do one. I remember making a list of all the things I wanted to eat before surgery thinking I will never be able to eat them again. Well now that I know better I will be able to have most of the stuff that was on my list, but just a small amount of it. -
Jackie I agree with you about all the commercials on tv. I have been staying up late watching tv and most commercials are either burgers or breakfast. It drives me crazy.

Serena, I was very bruised. My bruising now is mostly green in the center with reddish purple outline. I saw the pictures on the thread too and I didn't look like them either. Much more bruised

Ladies - What Size Clothes to Cross Your Legs?
huntersmom replied to JulieNYC's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I love this thread. Crossing my legs is one of my goals. I am only 4'11" and I am in a size 20. I think I remember when I was doing Weight Watchers, one of the many attempts to lose weight, I was down to a size 12 and could just start to cross my legs, but of course gained all the weight back plus some. I have very short legs so I think that is part of my problem. I will be back here when I can do it. -
I have the bullet. It is a blender that does one cup at a time.

i have decided that when I need new clothes that I am going to check out the salvation army store. We have a nice one here that has nice clothes. Of course I will bring them home and wash first. I just can't see buying a bunch of clothes just to wear for a couple of months and have them too big. When I hit goal I will definitely mall shop. I am a bargain shopper so I am sure I will hit the sale racks first.

Toni, I cannot believe that you can eat almost everything. A bagel. I wouldn't have even thought to try one. All the posts I have read as most people cannot eat any kind of bread. Also for others that have already been banded, do you weigh your self every day or just once a week. I am not sure what I want to do. I think once a week would be better but having the scale there is very temping.

I also watched the show last night. I couldn't watch the graphic surgery stuff but watched about Jackies life. I was great how well everyone treated her. It just reminded me why I got this band after all.

hi Junie, Just wondering about the people that are already in the mushie stage if they have seen the scale move at all. I have lost a lot of weight between pre-op and post-op liquid diet but afraid when I get to the mushie stage it will slow down. I really want to move into the mushie stage because I am so tired of liquids at this point. I do realize that my weight loss is going to slow down but who like to hear about other peoples weight lost. thanks

zengirl, I know 3 people who had bypass done years ago and has now gained all their weight back plus some for one. I was told from my surgeon that it was going to take about 3 years to take all my weight off. I only have 90 to lose. So that is about 30 pounds a year. I think that is great because if I didn't get banded I would probably be up 30 pounds each year instead. I would rather it come off slowly and keep it off other than lose it fast and gain it all back. I hoped I helped.

captain danbo, I was in the same boat you are. When I got approved I was just over a bmi of 40 and when I actually had my surgery I was around 38. I think insurance understands pre-op dieting and will not count that against you. I have blue cross and it wasn't a problem for me so I hope you will not have any problems.

My last straw was my weight. I was a yo-yo dieter for about 30 years. Yes I am almost 40 and have tried every diet on the planet. When I hit 200 lbs I was in shock and knew I had to do something. I am only 4'11" so 200 lbs on my small frame is huge. I have two young children and I want to be here for them for a long time.

How much did you lose at first?
huntersmom replied to isabelle290's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on a liquid diet and one yogurt a day. three carnation instant breakfast and one yogurt of your choice. I lost 18 pounds doing that. I did not cheat at all. Not that I didn't want to, the tempation was there but I didn't give in. The surgical coordinator told me that most women do not lost that much but I wanted a good start. -
New Post-ops BEWARE! Do not eat solids until your time! Personal experience...
huntersmom replied to prepster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

hey junies, I have some good news. I have finally lost the last three pounds from surgery. I felt like it was going to take forever. I feel like now I am on the road to losing weight and feeling healthy.

pippz I was very nervous the night before surgery, then I got channel surfing and saw on TLC Brookhaven Obesity Clinic and I knew I was doing the right thing. I never wanted to end up there.

Captain Danbo, My grandfather owned a fishing boat and fished off of gloucester, massachusetts. He sold his boat and opened a store that first sold boats then marine supplies. My mother works in the store and has for about the last 40 years, but now there is no business so they are going to close soon. I am glad your friends keep you stocked up in fish because that will really help you lose all your weight and I think I am a little jealous. The fish here is very expensive, haddock is about $8.99 a pound.

I was told that is was going to be 4 months when I wanted to have my surgery. It actually ended up being 5 months but let me tell you the time few by. It went by really fast. Your time will be here before you know it.

Post op picture
huntersmom replied to fatandoverit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for posting pics. I am very bruised and I wasn't sure if I should look like that. I only saw one pic that kind of looks like me. I look like a bat was taken to my stomach. It is slowly going away. I am one of those people who can just look at something and get bruised. -
Hi All, I just wanted to post a warning. Last night I couldn't fall asleep. No pain or anything like that. So I got up and two tablets of diphenhydramine (it is what is in most sleep aids), which I used to take all the time before surgery, I slept for 12 hours and still woke up groggy. It made me a little scared too. I felt like I was under anesthesia again. I couldn't wake myself up enough to wake my DH to tell him how scared I was thinking I wasn't going to wake up. So I am guessing that having the band makes medicine work differently then pre-band.

joeygirl i was done on monday and i still need to lose 3 pounds from the hospital and i am only on liquids. Only 3 CIB a day and water or flavored water. It might take a little time. I didn't get to shower until wednesday. It felt so good. I only got to use those microwavable wash clothes in the hospital.

MM, how did the chicken go. I was wondering if it got stuck or went right through without a problem. Snoopy, you and your mom will be in my prayers tonight. I will be thinking of you.

captain danbo, I am guessing you are a fisherman. I am from a family of the fishing industry and I am glad too see that some one is still working in it. My family owns a business that is going out of business because the lack of fishing. It is going to be good for you if you like fish. Alot of people are telling me that fish goes down the best.
