I have completed 60 minutes this week. I am hoping to get out today but there might be some thunder storms.

Thanks to everyone that has had their first fill and has put their experiences here. I get my fill next Monday and I am so scared to PB. I already have a problem with trying to chew my food before swallowing but it is a hard thing to retrain myself to do that.

READ THIS B4 BEING BANDED...My Experience
huntersmom replied to Krystal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am so glad I found you thread. I have been only banded for just less than a month. I haven't had a fill yet so I do not have any restriction. I was afraid this wasn't going to work for me. I have been eating some of the wrong stuff because I can. I don't want to be that way but sometimes the food is there and I eat it. My dh doesn't help when I ask him what he wants from the grocery store, he wants chips and ice cream. Of course if they are in the house I will eat them. A couple of times I have refused to buy them. He doesn't have a weight problem so he can eat anything he wants without issues. I am hoping that reading this thread will keep me going in the right direction. It made me jump on my treadmill and walk for 30 minutes and complete one mile. I like to walk outside but my kids come with me so I really do get a good pace in because I am constantly stopping to let them catch up. I am going to keep this thread in my favorites so I can keep checking in. Good luck Krystal , Purpose and everyone else. -
I got the chewable Centrum for adults and they have a orange flavor not bad at all. I also have the chewable Caltrate for calcium. My biggest problem is that I have to separate the Calcium and the vitamins and my regular meds by two hours so I always forget to take the calcium.

Paula, I am having a problem with food too. I am having one of those last supper moments. I am getting my fill on July 9th. From what I have read most people cannot eat bread, pasta or rice. I love all those things and I am almost in a panic that I will not be able to eat those things after my fill. I am having all sorts of cravings and I am trying to ignore them. It is very hard. I will have to take it one day at a time. The scale has gone up a little but I do figure some of it because of now eating food instead of just drinking CIB. Just remember you are not alone. This is a great place to spill your guts when you need to.

Can you believe it, It is July 1st. We all made it through. Good luck everyone on losing weight.

you are not making a mistake. it was the best thing I have ever done for myself. I have lost a lot of weight over my lifetime too and gain it all back plus some. This is going to change my life for the better and it will change yours too.

Thanks Toni for the info. Please let us know what else gets stuck. I want to try to stay away from those things. Snoopy I am glad you decided to get banded. I have been thinking of you and your mom.

Getting ready to do this....
huntersmom replied to bmadsgirl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
if you have a pre-op diet ease into it so you are not starving. -
Toni, I want all the gory details too. I am being filled on July 9th and I am afraid of what is to come. I do not want to PB at all if possible.
-
My goal is to walk four times weekly at least for 30 minutes each time. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and not be as hot as it has been. If not maybe i will use the threadmill. I like outside better.

I have lost almost 25 lbs and have not changed sizes either. The clothes feel a little more comfortable but not falling off. I am a little jealous too. I have been walking a little bit but not a lot of exercise, maybe that is the key.

Insub, that was a good idea of giving the scales away, atleast for a little while. My surgeron suggested not to weigh myself everyday. Pick a day during the week and weigh myself on that day. He said I might get disappointed if I am weighing myself every day.

EMERGENCY QUESTION: Port Spot extreme swelling
huntersmom replied to beckiet's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If you call your dr office regular number they probably have an answering service to give you the weekend number or can page the dr that is on call this weekend. It may not be your dr. They just may advise you to go to the er anyway. -
i am having cravings too and i am in a panic state over it. I want chinese food really bad. I have seen from so many people that they cannot eat rice or anything starchy or carbs after they are filled. I am being filled on July 9th. I cannot wait until my fill but it is also scaring me over the foods I will not be able to eat. I know this was a good choice for me and I really need to lose all the weight. I know be banded is the best thing for me. I already eat alot less than I used to eat. Because I am not filled yet we had pizza tonight. I had only one slice that took a long time to eat and I was filled. I used to eat 3 or 4 slices without a problem in the same amount of time. Suzzzie I have also seen that Heinz commercial. The food does look really good.

captain danbo, I have been sleeping in my bed since the night i came home from the hospital. It was a little hard to get out of bed though. I either had by dh or ds help me get out of bed. I am also a right side sleeper and that is the side of the port, I can sleep on that side but it is uncomfortable. i do have a recliner but didn't even try to sleep in it.

Today was my post-op appt. He told me that everything was fine. I can now eat soft foods. I will be having my first fill on July 9th. I have no restriction now, so I cannot wait until my first fill. He also told me not to obsess about losing weight. He said it is going to be very slow, and do not get disappointed.

Nice name. I am Rhonda too, I am from Massachusetts. I hope all goes well for you. It took me 5 months from my first meeting to my actual surgery. The time flew by.

What if I HATE artificial sweetner?
huntersmom replied to aubrie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i cannot do artificial sweetners either. I have IBS and the dr told me that some of it had to do with the sweetners. I have tried different ones but always had the same effects. I drink regular carnation instant breakfast and Stonyfield yogurt. The yogurt only has 10 more calories than the non sugar yogurts. I think the 10 extra calories is better than a sweetner that might do more harm than good. -
my last straw was getting above 200lbs. It might not seem alot to other people but I am on 4 feet 11 inches. I floundered around 192 to 195 for about 3 years. That really didn't bother me, but when I stepped on the scale at my mother in laws house and I was over 200, I got scared. How much more can I gain. That was last Christmas. In January I went to my first meeting for Lap Band. I did not want to do RNY because I have a friend who did it about 10 years ago and she has now gained all her weight back plus some. I am also turning 40 in july and I want to do something to change myself and be healthy for the first time in about 30 years.
