  1. Hello fellow sleevers. I had my 7 week checkup today (missed my 6 wk because I was in the ER). I am down 35 lbs so far. Not too bad. I was doing absolutely GREAT until last Wednesday. I woke up at 3 am in horrible pain that I knew was a kidney fine. I went to the ER and it was confirmed to be a kidney stone. Of course I let them know I was sleeved and was freaking out my pains could be sleeve related. A CT showed my sleeve was fine. Thank goodness. The stone passed and I thought all was ok.. Until Sunday. Yep I was back in the ER with another kidney stone! Ultrasound revealed I have 3 more stones in my left kidney and 1 in my right. I am not looking forward to passing those. I have been so nauseous for a week now. I have not been able to eat, take my vitamins, get my protein in, or drink my water. I am existing on SF Popsicles. I literally feel like I have just gone back 5 weeks. I hope this passes and things will get back to where they were. Has anyone else had issues with kidney stones? I have been reading up on the subject and although I have a history of stones, it seems diets high in protein lends itself to stones. The pain is unbearable and I can't do this all my life. Any help anyone can offer??
  2. Hello all. I was sleeved 2/7/13 with a hernia repair. Everything went great and I had no complications healing, eating or drinking...until a few weeks ago. I passed 2 kidney stones within 4 days. Both times it required a trip to the ER. Since then I have absolutely no desire to eat or drink. I had been doing well and getting all my protein in with the help of one shake a day, now I can't get two sips of a shake in without discomfort and nausea. The thought of a protein shake makes me gag. I have been mixing powder in with orange juice each morning to get something in my system. I saw my doc on 4/3 and he said my body has been through a lot and it may take time to get back on track. I should mention I had no a CT scan and ultrasound while in the hospital to rule out leaks. My problem is I have no appetite, don't want to eat or drink, and when I do try, everything makes me VERY uncomfortable. Not pain..just very full, sore and miserable. My stomach always feels like a a party is going on inside it. I wonder if its gas. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Help! I can't live off sf Popsicles forever. (That's all I want to eat).

    Pain on right side?

I had the same thing. It was excruciating. Some night it would take me almost 5 minutes to get in bed because it hurt so bad. It's your abdominal muscles. It's totally normal. It will gradually go away. Mine took a good 3 weeks before I didn't notice it anymore. Hang in there.
  4. I am right there with you. I am 8 weeks out today and have had constant nausea for the last 2 weeks. I have absolutely no desire to eat or drink anything. The thought of it just makes me sick. I think part of the problem for me is my acid reducer pill. I switched brands and I don't think it works as well. I bought a different one today and hope that helps. switched Maybe try to change yours and see how you do!

    Attention February 2013 Sleeve Buddies!

I am doing pretty good. Haven't had any pain in the last 48 hours so I may be on the mend. I still don't have an appetite and I am trying really hard to get my liquids in, but I'm not too successful. Protein is just out of the question right now. Ugh.

    feb 2013 sleevers weigh in

I was sleeved Feb 7 and today marks my 8 week post- op anniversary. I am down 35 lbs so far. I've been sick for the last week and unable to walk like I had been doing. Hopefully the weight loss will kick into high gear when I get back into my routine. I am loving the results, but I do miss being able to eat more than 5 bites of my meal.

I have tried a few things: chicken kabobs, brisket nachos, ham and cheese pinwheels (I removed most of the tortilla), beef stew, baked potato, chicken salad, and a couple prepared melas from My Fit Foods. My tummy seems to handle everything ok, but of course I can't eat very much of any of it. I may get 4-5 bites in, then I am done. The only food that really bothers me are breads. They feel like bricks in my stomach, so I stay away from those. Are you eating solids now?

I was sleeved on 2/7. I am feeling great. Most days I forget I ever had surgery, until I eat a bite too much then I remember! I have been on regular foods for a week now. Starting weight 252; weight today 222. 30 lbs gone for good!

    Attention February 2013 Sleeve Buddies!

They say we won't truly experience the feeling of being full until we get to the solid stages. I am only able to eat a little bit of the potatoes at a time because they hurt a bit going down. I feel a pain from my chest through my back.

    Attention February 2013 Sleeve Buddies!

I had the same discrepancies with regard to what to eat when I got home. A different nutritionist visited me in the hospital and gave me a list of permissible foods to eat when I got home and pureed food was already on there! I didn't think I could have those for 2-3 weeks! I have been careful to not get too crazy since I don't really trust it just yet. I did have some mashed potatoes I put in the blender with low cal butter. Oh my heavens!! It has been such a treat!

    Attention February 2013 Sleeve Buddies!

February 7th here! I can happily say that things have gone much better than I ever expected. I had some complications the night after surgery, but since then all has gone pretty smooth. I am getting down my liquids, but anything thicker, like applesauce is a tad painful going down. I'm hoping that passes sooner than later! I did the pre-op diet for 7 days and lost 8 lbs. I have lost 11 lbs since surgery! I couldn't be happier with my decision to get sleeved. But I will be even happier when I can have steak!
  17. Hello all. Here goes my first post! I was sleeve on the 7th and have done far better than I ever expected. I think I had read so many horror stories I had expected the worst. I did the preop diet for 7 days and was shocked I made it that far. I lost 8 lbs pre-op and have lost 11 since surgery. No complaints there. The first two days were the worst as I had horrible chest pains. I had some issues the first night in the hospital with dangerously high blood pressure and blood sugar levels. I had to be given insulin for the first (and hopefully last) time in my life. I am able to swallow most liquids without any problems, but have pain with soups and applesauce. I tried some sf pudding the other day and was only able to eat half a pudding cup. Amazing! I went to work today for a few hours to take care of some essentials, but I tired quickly. So far I am very happy with my sleeve decision!!
