I've started several responses to your post. I think you are doing fine and those lab-coat wearing Napoleans need to respect your individuality. It sounds like you were doing a good job following the plan until they decided to discourage you. Please don't let these folks get you down. Stick with the plan. The final number will take care of itself. BTW, tomorrow marks four weeks since my surgery.

Sip all night too. I couldn't seem to get rehydrated until I started keeping Water by my bed. I keep a 24 oz bottle by my bed. (3oz x 8hrs). Just remember that you don't eat and drink at the same time. It's not an important distinction today, but it's coming soon. Try to think of nutritious liquids as food. Then water is for thirst. That might help with the feeling you are "sipping all day". (My surgery was almost 3 weeks ago.)

I have a Mirena IUD. It excretes progesterone in addition to being a bit of plastic in your uterus. It might make an IUD more effective for you. I sympathize with not telling people about the surgery. I only told a few people. Don't worry about not losing weight. I didn't either. My surgery went great. The first 24 hours is unpleasant, but you improve so fast that it's not too bad.

I applaud your decision to wait to tell him. Telling is the right thing AFTER a certain point of intimacy is reached.

I'm writing this from my hospital bed at 7:20 AM after my surgery yesterday. I was sleepy, sore, and uncoordinated after the surgery. The surgery was scheduled for 11AM and was supposed to last 3 and a half hours. That seemed pretty accurate. I got to my hospital room at 5-ish. I had trouble with my blood oxygen level in recovery, probably because I was so sleepy and because it was painful to search for body positions

I'm having surgery tomorrow at UNC. I guess you could say I have recently finished researching in the triangle area. I have dear friends in the WF/Baptist community and I would have been very satisfied to go there. -
I'm in Durham, NC. I'm having surgery at UNC tomorrow.

Any advice on what to pack? Any advice on what to stock up on? How would you suggest I spend the day?

When I checked on Duke they were not a bariatric center of excellence (or whatever the designation is called). Both WF/Baptist and UNC have the designation. -
