  1. The only things I'm able to tolerate are broth, popsicles, water & Vitamin water zero. I've tried moving up to applesauce & pudding but I have so much phlegm in my throat it's hard. My surgeon put me on Reglan today to see if it helps. Next is doing an endoscopy to look down my throat. I'm having a tough time so I can only imagine what you're going through. Hang in there...
  2. I had my surgery about 3 weeks so & I'm still stuck on liquids. I'm having a hard time keeping liquids down & any meds I take. My problem seems to be, I have a lot of mucous stuck in my throat so I gag on whatever it is I take in. I've had a barium swallow done so it's not coming from my stomach. I'm just so frustrated & feeling very down because it's taking a lot out of me. Has anyone ever had this problem? I've tried different allergy meds & nothing works. Waiting to hear from my surgeon as I write this but I'm not expecting much...
  3. I felt the same way when I first started. I wanted foods that I haven't touched or thought about in months! Lol... That's how I knew the shakes were getting to me in a not so good way. But I'm on day 9 & going strong. My eye is on the prize. You can do it. : )
  4. They have me drinking shakes called BariatrX Essentials by Metagenics. I make 2 chocolate meal shakes, one banana Fiber shake & one banana Protein shake. To trick myself, the only thing I've had aside from the shakes are sugar free popsicles. I'll have one in the whole day. Makes me feel somewhat normal..lol
  5. You're so right. You hit the nail on the head...lol. In some ways, I think I am looking for someone to tell me its ok if I eat that chicken...lol. Done well so far so I'm just going to have to get through these next 8 days...
  6. I just want to do the right thing because I'm afraid the surgeon will go in & my liver won't look like he wants it too & I won't have the surgery done. But I find myself thinking about foods I swore off months ago & I know its my mind going into overdrive because the shakes are (gross...lol) not appetizing & I want something solid. But you're right. I don't want to deprive myself either. Thanks for the advice. I know you're no doctor but I just really wanted to know how someone who's gone through pre-op, dealt with it. Thank you.
  7. Did you cheat at all on the liquid diet as far as trying to eat solid food?
  8. I'm on day 6 of my liquid diet & finding it very hard. My surgery date is 2/20 I was so excited when I finally got my date but I don't think I put a lot of thought into how difficult not touching solid food for two weeks would be. I'm trying to stay positive because I've done so well all these months to get to this point. It's also hard when the shakes they have you make aren't very appetizing & by the time I have to go bed, my stomach is growling. I'm just trying to stay strong & stay focused.
  9. Reading this helped me. I'm on day 6 of my liquid diet & I'm finding it so hard. I'm so down because I don't want to be around anyone eating or even see food. & then I start to think about some of the foods I love that I won't be able to touch post op. These two weeks feel like forever & I'm glad I found this website. It helps somewhat to know that I'm not alone having these feelings before surgery.
