  2. We do? I have 3 friends that have used him and have been happy. My surgery date is March 1. Are you traveling to Vegas to do this? I am from So. cal. So I will be there from Thursday to Monday. We need to keep in touch!
  3. We sound exactly the same! I weighted myself on Friday before I started my pre op diet and I was 136 pounds. I am 5'8" . How tall are you? My ultimate goal is 150, but honestly 170 is fine with me! I'm thin at 170. . Thanks for sharing your timeline. When I get my kiddos in bed I am going to read it. This is really helping me. I love hearing from eveyone. Thank you!
  4. Roxanne, you didn't have a huge amount to lose either? I have 60 to lose to get to a comfortable weight. Not skinny, but good for my height. So, I will still possibly lose a good amount in the beginning? I'm so excitied! I have sleep apnea and high blood pressure and those started about 30 pounds ago, so I'm hoping to be off that stuff pretty quickly, but have heard the less you have to losenthenslower it comes off mso, I'm hoping to be 60 pounds less by Christmas. How much did you lose in the first month?
  5. Roxanne, you go girl! Thanks for the info everyone. I'm going to plan on going! Maybe I'll even be a few pounds down by then between the pre op diet and 11 days post op. Crossing my fingers.
  6. Haha! I know, right? So much fun and I don't want to miss it! . When is your procedure? I just started the pre op diet and ...oh my, this is going to be a loooooong 2 weeks!

    Any March Sleevers?

Me! My surgery is set for March 1. I just started my pre op diet and its not fun, BUT I know it's worth it.
  9. I am due to be sleeved in 2 weeks. I am getting pretty anxious about various things. One major thing is I have severe GERD and am currently taking the max dose. I know there is a risk after surgery to get reflux. I'm wondering if there is anyone out there that can ease my mind and give me hope. Has anyone gone through the surgery going into procedure with severe GERD and came out with it either the same or better?.
  10. 2 more weeks til my sleeve! I'm so excited! But....I'm concerned with eating and drinking together. I'm told I can't do that. Why? What happens? Will there ever be a time that I can drink my water while eating a small meal to help wash it down? And one last question. How long after I eat do I have to wait to drink water? I'm referring to when I'm on eating solids again post op. Thanks for any insight!

    Pre-op diet?

My surgery is March 1. 2 weeks before (so, this Friday) I am supposed to drink 2 Protein shakes (1 for Breakfast and 1 for lunch) and then have protein and green veggies for dinner. No soda, salt or oils or sugar. I was told I can season the meat a little with a few seasoning and to try to stay around 800 calories. It's going to be a long 2 weeks.
  12. My surgery is scheduled for March 1. I'm both excited and nervous. I know this is the change I need in my life to get it back on track. I have several friends that have had the sleeve and they tell me I won't crave food the same way anymore. I feel like that just can't be true. Am I in for withdrawals after surgery? I eat because I like to eat. I eat when I'm happy, sad, celebrating or angry. I eat because its fun. This attitude toward food has gotten me to where I am today and I am not happy with it. I just want to know straight up how your relationship with food has been affected after surgery. Help please. . I am determined to start my life anew, but want to be prepared for what's to come.

    How can I do this?

I am feeling the same anxiety. I start my 2 week pre op diet of 2 shakes and 1 high protein meal on Friday. 2 weeks of approximately 800 calories a day?! How can I do it? How long does everyone else have to do their pre op diets? I've read some people doing it for only 1 week while others did theirs for 4 weeks.
  14. My insurance e won't pay for mine either. There is a doctor in Vegas (Dr. Umbach) that does it. You can cash pay for $11k or finance for $12,500. I know 3 people who has gone to him and recommend him. My surgery date with him is March 1 and I live in CA. I meet with him on Thursday, the 28th, have surgery Friday. Go back to hotel to rest and recoup over weekend, see him for post op on Monday and get released to see my primary doctor 2 weeks later. Just a thought if you are having a hard time finding reasonably priced doctors in your area. Dr's here in So. Cal. Are charging $22k! Good luck!

    Pre surgery eating

Yay, Us, KanesMom! Will look forward to hearing all about your journey. Have you started the pre-op diet yet? My surgeon is having me start mine on Friday. I have taken a very unhealthy approach to this upcoming change and am eating all my favorites every day...eating out, making Desserts. I've probably gained 5 pounds the past couple of weeks. See? This is where my mind gets me in trouble. I have the' I need to eat everything before it's too late' attitude. So bad!
