  1. Welcome! So glad you found us. You are brave to go to another country outside your own. I live only 2 hours from Mexico, but I'm driving 4 hours to Vegas because I am too chicken. it sound like you and someone else on here are going to the same city. Wouldn't it be great to have met someone with your same doctor. I love this site. It connects so many of us and give us support. My 7 year old son just got a high fever today. Cross your fingers for me that I don't get it. I couldn't bare having to postpone my surgery! Most of us will be sleeved in 5 days!

    Any March Sleevers?

Oh no! My surgery is Friday (I leave on Thursday) and my 7 year old just woke up with a fever. Please don't let me get sick! I will die is my surgery has to be rescheduled AND have to do my 2 week pre op diet again. Don't get sick, don't get sick. Don't get sick!

    Any good broth/soup base recipes?

Tortilla soup is amazing and easy. Make a salsa of your liking. I do 1 bunch green onions, 1 24 oz can of PEELED whole tomatoes in their own juice (very important to be in their own juice - others are gross), 1 4 oz can jalapeños, 1 4 oz can green chilis, 1 Tbsp garlic powder, 1 Tbsp kosher salt and 1 bunch cilantro. Purée in whatever you have - a blender is sometimes hard, but works. Then you get a whole chicken and do just as instructed above for chicken soup - cover it with water, add chopped onion and any veggies you like. After several hours, remove the chicken from broth. Shred it all up and put back in the broth along with the salsa. You can put the broth in the frig overnight without the salsa mixed in to get the fat to the surface to scrap off first if you want. After all ingredients are mixed, serve to your family and you strain your portion. Don't forget the tortilla strips for your family. Yummy! And then as time goes on you can purée the entire soup as your tummy allows until you can eat the soup just as your family does. Enjoy!

    Any March Sleevers?

Maybe I can help you out a little. My friend made up a dressing when she did this pre op diet and its pretty good. Balsamic vinegar, some water, garlic powder, pepper and equal. I like balsamic vinegar, so I'm happy.

    Any March Sleevers?

Thank you for that! It sounds delicious! Going to make this as soon as I can.
  7. I heard in Weight Watchers years ago that when you cook at a certain degree the healthy goes away. Not sure if its true or not.
  8. I LOVE those! Do you make yours with olive oil? That and Kosher salt is how I've made it, but I'd love to know if you can forget the oil. Healthier.

    Any March Sleevers?

I'm allowed to have I Can't Believe it's Not Butter spray, so I use that on brocolli, green beans, Brussels sprouts, aparagus, etc. I'm lucky that I LOVE veggies. I'm not allowed salad dressing, so I made one that my friend that went through the surgery made up - balsalmic vinegar, a little water, some garlic powder, pepper and non sugar sweetener. It's actually good! I got McDonalds Ranch Bacon grilled chicken salad the other day bc my family was having fast food, took everything off except the chicken and greens and put the dressing on it. YUM!
  11. You bet! The more the merrier!
  12. No problem. All are welcome!
  13. I feel your pain. I've been on my pre op diet for 1 week and today I cheated with about 1/4 cup of homemade salsa and then tonight my family got fast food and I had 4 French fries! I can't believe I ate carbs! Today was rough. We just have to remember we only have 1 more week. 1 more! We CAN do this! We have to. We've committed ourselves to change. Lets start now!
  14. Inland empire here. Getting sleeved next week in Vegas as a self pay. Know 3 people that went to this doctor and all went great. Feel free to talk to me if you have questions.
  15. The fat girl in me is thrilled with this new info! So scary tho. So, I have a question. It seems like there are a lot of people that barely go over and mess up just a tiny bit and gain weight. The fat me can get away with so much that it really scares me to think I might splurge on too many blueberries and gain 2 lbs!
  16. I'm getting sleeved next week. I'm wondering if after all this time, if you go to the movies can you tolerate a tiny or little amount of popcorn? Is there any indulging at all? I don't mean sitting down and eating a whole pint of ice cream. I'm talking having 2 cookies or a cup of popcorn at the movies. Not every day. Anyone out there with answers?
  17. And far far post op are you?
  18. Seriously, so funny! When is your surgery date?
  19. Alright, ya'll. 1 week from today we will all be sleeved and on our way to our new, healthy life! Woo hoo!
