  3. HW 137 CW 192 5'8" 30 lbs to go Surgery date 3/1/13
  4. Almost 4 months out and haven't had any negatives to talk about. I function exactly the way I did before surgery, just much, much less. Havent had a sinhle stumbling block other than a stall or two. No vomiting, no having to get used to eating certsin foods. Nothing. I love my sleeve! 43 lbs down, 28 to go!
  5. I am 3 1/2 months post op. Everything is great except for the fact I am finding it extremely difficult getting all my liquids in. How much am I supposed to have each day? Pre surgery I was a water drinker and could easily drink 48 oz and then have another 20+oz of Diet Coke. But these days I feel like I'm having to choose to eat or drink half the time and eating wins. I think I'm only getting about 30-40 oz between water and Powerade Zero. I'm sure that's not enough, but I just can't seem to drink more than that. Is anyone else having this issue? How do you get it all in????? And I'm not a coffee or tea person so I can't even count that.

    Specks of blood...

Scary Addry! I sure hope you are able to get in touch with dr soon. You can't eat at all? How is drinking?

    Did you call dr. Today?

    Super slow loser

I'm with ya. I am 3 1/2 months post op and have had many stalls. It's hard, but just remember you aren't gaining and that's a good thing! Maybe you can shock your system with a couple of days of 1000 calories and then go back to your normal calories. I've done that and it works. That and lots and lots of water! Hang in there!

    Specks of blood...

Probably, but best to call the doctor to just ask.
  11. Mine didn't appear to be emptying at all for the first day and a half and then all of a sudden it started getting smaller. Had surgery on a Friday and it was empty by Monday. Didn't hurt at all to take out.
  12. I am 3 1/2 months post op currently. I went on vacation to a wedding exactly 6 weeks post op too. I was nervous, but it wasn't as difficult as you might think. I was on solids, so my choices were endless, but it made me nervous at the same time. I have 3 kids, so we hit McDonalds a few times and I got chicken nuggets and peeled off the fried outer layer and dipped them in sauce. You'll be in San Diego (I live only 45 minutes from there), so you will have Subway around. A lot of the Subways offer soups. If they don't, you can get soup at most restaurants. I also did chili. You can go to any Mexican joint and order refried beans. When we go to Sea World I take a mini ice cooler and pack snacks. You can bring string cheese and all your other go to snacks you like. Just remember to drink, drink, drink! You can also get creative at fast food places. If they offer chili burgers just tell them you'd like the chili as a side. I did that at one of the fast food places on the road. They looked at me funny, but did it. Good luck and have fun! It's not too hot yet.
  13. You sound just like me back when I had my surgery. I am now 3 1/2 months post op, btw. I felt hungry, could drink liquids normally and my doctor told me I could have yogurt, cottage cheese and scrambled eggs right away. I was too scared and waited until 1 week to do the yogurt and cottage cheese. At first I was upset that I didn't feel any different. I wanted restriction (still don't have that and I eat anything and everything now). I wanted to feel different! My recovery was a piece of cake and everyone told me to count my blessings. I do feel my surgeon is amazing and that's why. Now that I am almost 4 months out I have learned when to stop eating and how much is right for my sleeve. I eat just as quickly as I did pre surgery, but much less. I gulp water and have no problems. I chew my food just as I did before and feel exactly as i did pre surgery. I'm sure you will be the same. I've lost 41 lbs, but have recently stalled. . Just be very careful. As many told me on this forum, your new stomach is still in shock and probably a bit numb. Don't overdue it. A little at a time. I could eat 4-5 oz of yogurt with no problems too, but I wouldn't go over that even if you feel like you can because you don't want to stretch the stomach and cause a leak. Just hang in there. You will learn and it will be easy. Good luck with everything!

    Sipping liquids

I was able to start drinking bigger sips and more ounces about 1 week after surgery. From there it just got more and more. I am 3 1/2 months post op now and can chug it if I want to, but I only do a few gulps at a time to make sure I don't stretch my sleeve. . Hope this helps.

  16. What you're going through sounds horrible and I am so sorry! First and foremost I would have your primary doctor look at your stomach. That sounds concerning. As far as the hunger, I feel your pain on a lesser scale. I am 4 weeks out and get hungry much more often than I thought I would. I am free to eat all foods and have no problems with anything at all that I eat. The only advise I would say is maybe try a protein shake like premium for breakfast (not as healthy as the isopure you had, but better tasting and filling, I think), something like chili for lunch and then chicken for dinner. Fill in the cracks with cottage cheese, light string cheese and Greek yogurt. Try it for 1 week and see if you feel a difference. You are still very newly out and your body might need to get used to what happened. Keep us posted and good luck!
  17. I was sleeved only 1 week ago. My doc allows protein shakes, broths Greek yogurt, sugar free apple sauce and even cottage cheese! I am having absolutely no problem getting my protein and liquids in, but I don't feel restriction hardly at all! And I'm hungry! It's more than head hunger. I actually do get hungry. What's wrong with me?!
  18. Starting to freak out a little here! I am exactly 2 weeks post op today, have been given the green light to eat new foods and I feel like I could eat and eat and eat! I read on here that when I started solid protein I would finally feel restriction. Well, not the case. I have a chicken leg (which I was sure to chew very well) and it went down just the same as pre surgery. Granted, I am eating less, but the only thing that gives me any feeling of restriction. Is cottage cheese so far. I even ate a little bit of a muffin today and felt fine and wanted more! What is wrong with me?!
  19. Thought I'd start a thread for those of us being sleeved on the 1st. It would be fun for all of us to check in with each other after our procedures and compare how everyone is doing. It would also be a nice support for prior to the surgery because this pre op diet sucks and is HARD!!!! Speaking of pre op diets. What do your doctors have you doing? I'm confused as to why some people only have to do a 24 hour liquid diet, while some (me included) have to do 2 protein shakes and 1 protein and green meal for 2 weeks and still others have to do 1 month of liquid! I want some cottage cheese. Anyone allowed to have that pre op? I read somewhere its ok. Just wondering. I'm only on day 3 and its hard (did I say that already?).
  20. Help! Today is my first day of pre op diet. Holy cow, this is going to be a loooooong 2 weeks! I'm not loving the protein shakes I bought (Muscle Milk). Wondering what others have gotten that they've liked and where they bought them. Thanks for any and all help!
  21. Thank you! I'm feeling like a freak. Did you still lose? I mean, I'm not having a ton of calories, but I am having more than I thought I'd be able to (probably around 800) being only a week out.

    March sleevers anyone?

Was sleeved on 1st. Had worse gas pain in my left shoulder first day, but it really wasn't bad. I was out patient and have done great! Still feeling the gas in my shoulder. Was told it could last a couple weeks. It will eventually escape. I'm not on any pain meds and I feel great! Good luck!
  23. Sorry to hear, sastexan. But glad you are home and on the mend. It will just keep getting better. Hang in there.
