I am hoping to have my surgery on May 2nd. I received the typical pre-op instructions from my doctor which have a 3 days prior to surgery liquid only and laxatives diet requirement. I am a graduate student who has a 4 hour long final as well as research presentation on April 30th. I am wondering how others reacted to the change in nutrients. How was your concentration, energy level and memory during this time? Can you recommend certain liquids that will be better than others during this time? Thanks!

I had never heard of the birth control sticks before! It looks like Mirena could also be an option. Thanks for the recommendations!

Preventing Blood Clots (Tijuana hospitals)

Thanks for the responses! It sounds like the best medicine is walking, but it's good to know they will either give you compression stockings or wrap your legs. jh5497- Sounds like I should do some research on the human organ black market down there in Tijuana before I make my final decision -
I'm hoping for mid May as well! Will be self pay in Mexico. Good luck with the pre-op process!

I will speak to my doctor as well, but I am wondering what other ladies are taking in regards to birth control? I need to try and stay away from any that have estrogen hormones (because of my PCOS and increased risk for blood clots) and I'm not sure what my options are. I would prefer a pill, but would consider other options if they would be better. Thanks in advance!

Preventing Blood Clots (Tijuana hospitals)
reedsinsd posted a topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I just found out that genetically I am at a serious increased risk for venous thromboembolism (aka blood clots). I understand that it is important to start walking early and often after the surgery to prevent this. Do any of the hospitals in Tijuana provide compression stockings and also use a device called SCD's (they are wrapped around your calves and squeezed and release with the assistance of air to help with blood flow)?- 11 replies
