    Surgeon in Connecticut?

Can anyone recommend a surgeon/practice in CT -- preferably in New Haven or Fairfield counties ?

    Connecticut Sleevers?

I'm also in Guilford and would be very happy to meet with you and go over everything. Just email me at urbanlegends@comcast.net and I'll email you my cell. Several of us here in Guilford are waiting and one has already had surgery. We can have our own support group.

    Connecticut Sleevers?

I'm from Guilford and also going with the Floch practice -- though using the new surgeon, Fridman. Having surgery at St. Vincent's in Bridgeport in May.

    Connecticut Sleevers?

I'm going to Yale Cardiac Group in Branford next week. I've never had a stress test before so I'm praying everything goes alright. Where do you live? I have two other friends from Guilford also going through this process.

    Connecticut Sleevers?

How are you feeling over all? I'm terrified of having the surgery, but I know I really have to lose weight. I know I can't make the necessary changes without help. I like to eat and drink and be social too much!

I'm in Guilford. Where are you going for cardiac clearance? I go next week in Branford. This week I have ultrasound at Guilford Radiology and mental health clearance on Wed. What surgeon are you going to?

    Connecticut Sleevers?

Hi Maria, How are you doing so far? I live in Guilford, but going to Fairfield Bariatrics. How are you doing since your surgery?
  11. That stuff is just poison. Are there any drinks without this stuff in them?

#160 lost 1 year post op (w/ pics)

Congrats!! What a success story. Truly gives me hope!
  13. Having my first meeting with surgeon today. Going to Fairfield Bariatrics in CT. Anyone else go there? The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. I feel my road to weight loss is insane, so am now making the much needed change toward success. I am 5'10", 294 lbs and 55 years old. No comorbidities, just a 40 BMI. Did I just say " just"? Ha ha. Only here is a 40 BMI a good thing, right? I believe the sleeve is the way to go for me, but will wait to hear what my doctor says. Any others starting the journey by seeing their surgeon for the first time??

    Family Feud

Parents, family and friends are used to fitting into a role in your life. Now you're ready to rock the boat, and they don't like it. They want everything to stay the same, that's all. It's the fear of the unknown. They may be part of the reason you have the weight on you to begin with -- a shield from their criticism. It's OK to move into the adult world and not need their approval anymore. We're all here to support you with no judgment.

    Frustrated

Please check with your surgeon. There are other doctors you can go to who are more supportive. They should be working with a team if them and can recommend a few for you to go to. Don't let anything or anyone stand in your way of becoming healthy.

    today I resisted...

I'm proud that you stayed on the diet. This is a big fear for me. I'm not ready to begin the pre-op yet, but I'm doing some trial runs. I've been substituting protein shakes for breakfast and lunch most days and eating regular at dinner. It's amazing how quickly the shakes fill you up! Night time will be the challenge for me so I'm practicing now. It will be another 6 weeks before I have to get really strict so just psyching myself out.

    First Appointment with Surgeon

One of the tests I'm scheduled for is an abdominal ultrasound. This is to look at my gallbladder to see if there are any stones in it. If there are, the surgeon may remove it as well to avoid further complications. I'm also having a hiatal hernia repair. This should help cut down on GERD, which I already have. So many things to do to get ready. I'm glad to meet all of you and to have this support!! Good luck to us all...

    First Appointment with Surgeon

Yeah! Visit went well and it's the sleeve for me. Now I just have my checklist to get through. Surgeon said I could have my surgery by end of April if I get all my tests done quickly. Getting started on it today!

    Why Should i Get Sleeved?

I'm in the pre-op phase. Thought this might be the right WLS solution for me. However, I'm reading all these horror stories about leaks, stents, acid reflux, not being able to eat at all. Now, I'm scared to death. On the other hand, I'm 5'10" and way 294, the highest I've ever been. Have no will power and, at 55, don't think I will find it now. Should be at goal weight of 160. That's why I'm looking at WLS. What is typical life like after being sleeved? Is it worth the risks????

    Why Should i Get Sleeved?

Today is the day! I see my surgeon for the first time! So excited to finally getting the ball rolling and making the first change to a new me. The first of many changes I suspect. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Well, no more insanity for me! On my way to a new, healthier life. While I believe the sleeve is the best option for me, will wait and see what the doctor says. 1:30 today can't come soon enough!!

    Why Should i Get Sleeved?

I only have BMI, no co-mormidities. Is this better?

    Why Should i Get Sleeved?

    Thank you! Makes sense.

    Why Should i Get Sleeved?

Did you have any complications at all? No gallbladder problems, hair loss, dehydration, not being able to get Protein down? If one follows doctor's orders exactly, does that cut down on complications?
