Anyone know a surgeon in NJ who accepts selfpay?
Veruca Salt replied to swhey's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Wht part of NJ and I can find you someone -
Each surgeon is different but most of them do not want you to take any NSAIDS this close. I would tell you to speak to your surgeon. He after surgery you will need a medical braclet notifiying emergency medical that you are a patient and that you can not have a NG tube placed blindly and you can not have NSAIDS.

I can only speak for myself>they told me the same thing you heard. If I did not quit the surgery would be cancelled. I smoken right up to the hospital and as soon as I got out. I depends on your insurance company. They had never asked me for the test again.

Does insurance ever cover a TT when the hanging skin is very severe?
Veruca Salt replied to WeeWers's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I did check into this. Most insurance companies do not cover it unless it is a medical issue (like sores under the skin flap) or if the extra skin is causing depression. If you find out any different I would like to know. -
Hi ShrinkingBiker, it is Veruca. You can start driver as long as you are not on pain killer anymore.

Ok, some doctors require them to drain fluid. This tube is called a JP tube (Jackson Pratt). It is inserted in you thru one of you incision areas to drain fluid so no infection can start. The end of the tube is a bulb which is compressed so it has a steady suction using gravity. It is usually not left in more than a few days (most times removed before leaving the hospital). I hope this information is helpful to you.

I am May 6th as well. -
I would get a second opinion. There are surgeons out there with more experience with higher bmi. They will ask you to lose some weight 10 or 20 lbs but nothing major. Good luck to you.

Before you leave the hospital make sure they do an emezyne test. I had so many problems after getting my Gallbladder out it took me many time admitted to the hospital, home nurses, and 3 months to get over mine. There is a good chance you can get acute Pancreatitis. Then they found stones outside the gallbladder and when they went to get them they tore the bile duct. This was the worst surgery I have ever had. Child birth was better than this. This scared my family so bad it has taken me years to convience them to let me have another surgery (this is the one). I sure hope this one goes much easier. This is to inform you and not to scare you. Good luck, let me know how you are doing.

I've been sleeved, but many complications followed.
Veruca Salt replied to vickytom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am sorry tohear of all your troubles. I have has serious troubles in my past surgeries and now how fustraiting things can be. Thank god they did find your problem and were able to fix it. If I was you I would persue legal action. Give you and your husband peace of mind with the time you have lost together. As you stated you have already had it done so there is no turning back. This does gives other a snapshot of the bad in the surgery and I believe people should know both sides. This is not a game and lives are on the line. Good luck with healing in your near future and I look foward to see a post with a positive ending. -
APPROVED....but have a question
Veruca Salt replied to Sleeved_4.3.13's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The question comes right back to you. How do you feel. You know your family we do not. How would they take it and can they handle more. If you believe they sould not handle it and they surgery can wait then postpone it. If you are in pain and need it for pain magament then I say go with it. Is your stepmother able to handle this infomation. Is so maybe talk to her and see how she feel. Either choice you go with I wish you the very best. -
I have been trying to quit smoking for this surgery. When I do start to try again I get really bad headaches which put me in the hospital. I don't know what to do at this point. Does anyone know how to pass the blood nicotine test without quitting?
-
I am down to 2 cigs a day. It is very hard but I notice If I cut it our completely then that is when the headaches start. For all of you who have shown compassion with this post I thank you. For those of you with negativity or using foul language please do not post on my blogs again.

Like a child on Christmas Eve, once I had my first appointment with the doctors office I could not wait to get started on all my tast to be done. I ran home with my binder (they had given me) sat down and read the whole thing. I had a new outlook on life already. That same day I called my family doctor to write a letter of support and had them fax it in. I then saw my councelor and had her write a letter of approval and fax that. On Saturday ran out and had my blood drawn. I was on the road. I gave up the soda (I loved very much) started out to the store buying the right food and reading boxes. Ran to WalMart and bought the most expensive scale they had. I even started to buy babyfood for after the surgery. Wow, sice that first meeting I was too busy to notice my doctor's office had not done a thing. I found out that I won't even meet my surgon until right before surgery, When I call them with concerns they give me a line or 2 speak and hang up. I am starting to lose all the interest I have in thhis whole thing. I feel I have shown so much effort and am not seeing anything in return, this is very discouraging an upseting. I need support with this, and even though my family is there, they don't understand. I need to see somethig from my doctors side that shows they are their and moving on their end as well. If you have any feedback on this PLEASE let me know you feelings. I feel alone and ready to jump ship. I have even found myself crying on the phone with the doctors office and still got no where.. .

Is it right for me?
Veruca Salt replied to Bamagirl0572's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I am 5'6" and 250. I have servere back pain. Have apena, High Blood pressure. I am told that will all go away with the weight. I have no will power but this means so much to me I am going to have the sleeve done. You are a canidate for it so go for it. Check with your insurance and see what they will cover. I think you will be very happy with the outcome. Stay away from the band. Good luck with your decision.
