Please support me right now.

Exercise, work it out. I know that when I get really mad (hasn't happened in many years) I start cleaning and let my frustrations out that way. -
At 5 weeks out, I was eating anywhere from 600 to 700 calories. My doctor didn't seem to have a problem with it either.

Coffee is okay and shouldn't affect the weight. It's what you put in the coffee that could. LOL

Non NSAID headache relief.....

I get migraines and asked my doctor if I could still take Excederine Migraine. He said yes. I have not had any problems after taking it. -
Feeling very frustrated and discouraged :(
Chaparra replied to petra1124's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry, I wasn't trying to lump all RN's in the same category, just explaining my experience with the spouse of one. I am also in the medical field and do understand all the risks involved. Sorry if I offended anyone, that wasn't my intention. -

I had a coworker whose spouse is a nurse. When I mentioned to her that I was thinking about getting this surgery, she gave me the riot act and talked about all the negative things her husband had to say about it. I think that RN's only see the negative in this surgery as that is what they have to deal with. They don't see all the possitive outcomes of this surgery because those of us that are lucky to not have serious complications don't every go back to the hospital. Do what feels right for you. Trust the doctors that specialize in this surgery and the stories you hear from others that have gone through it. Those are the experts. Yes, it hurts to not have support, but you have to do what is best for you. Good luck! -
I have seen many posts from people on here where they just did the clear liquid diet the day before surgery. Every doctor is different. If this is what your doctor has instructed you to do, it should be fine. If you are super concerned about it, talk to your doctor and see if he/she can ease your mind.

Will you lose weight even if you've failed at every diet known to man?
Chaparra replied to extracat's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 02/11/13 and am down 22 pounds since the day of surgery. I don't consider this to be another diet. This is my new life. Getting the sleeve was just one of the tools I needed to help me in this new lifestyle. I would suggest that you see a nutritionist first. I was reluctant to do that because I knew what I should be eating and that I should be eating smaller portions, but what she taught me helped in all this. Yes, you will lose weight. There is no way not to when you are limited to eating such small amounts. The only way this will fail is if you don't follow the rules. These rules are just for the first year, they are for life. You need to prepare yourself for this. Research it, talk with your doctor. I know many people that don't have obesity or overweight problems don't think this surgery is a good idea, but those of us who have tried other forms of weight loss need this little push to get us going in the right direction. Good luck! -
Any one NOT on a diet plan and having success ?
Chaparra replied to Kapu's topic in Food and Nutrition
I was sleeved on 02/11/13, so not that far out, but I hate the word "diet." I've always felt it had a negative meaning to it. I don't consider myself to be on a diet. I have changed the way I eat, making healthier and better choices. To me, diet is only a temporary thing to lose a specific amount of weight. Yes, we are all on here because we want to lose, and are losing, weight, but I think that our eating choices need to be made out of habit, not because of being on a diet. Besides, once we all meet our goal, our eating choices shouldn't be changing. -
Are you able to go to your local health department and get them? I work for our local health department and our doctors give those shots all the time. I know you can get b12 vitamins over the counter, but I didn't think you could get the injectable meds without a prescription, but maybe I'm wrong.

20 pounds down at 4 weeks ? Why am I so darn disappointed
Chaparra replied to Kapu's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just thinking about this again, 20 pounds a month would mean that I would reach goal in 5 to 6 months. I wouldn't feel disappointed at all about that. -
Would You Have Weight Loss Surgery Again?
Chaparra replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Not sure if you mean if I had to go back to before surgery and making the decision again, or choosing to have a second surgery. If I could go back to before I had the surgery, I wouldn't change my decision. I think this was the best thing I have done (weight loss wise). If this doesn't work, which is doubtful, I wouldn't have another surgery because that would be the RNY and I don't like the re-arranging the order of things inside me. -
$5.99 a serving. Hmmm...isn't that how much it costs to eat a meal out? LOL I am about a month and a half out and don't use protein drinks anymore. I get almost all my protein from chicken.

daily weighers: how long till you claim a lower number
Chaparra replied to TES's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I weigh every day, but because of how our bodies fluctuate (wish this thing had spell check!), I only claim it if it has stayed consistant for at least 2 days in a row. -

Please don't hate me, encourage me!
Chaparra replied to ashbhey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a moment of regret after my one month follow up with my doctor. I was the same weight as I was on my week follow up. I felt really depressed and thought that I put my body through all this only to not have results. I'm finding more and more that it was just a moment of weekness and I needed to be more patient (not a strong quality of mine). Although I haven't lost as much as I have hoped to by now, I am seeing a difference in how my clothes fit and am physically stronger. I now know that it will take time, but as long as I stick to the plan, this will work. Hang in there and try to find the possitive in it all and don't let anyone bring you down. You can do this! -
20 pounds down at 4 weeks ? Why am I so darn disappointed
Chaparra replied to Kapu's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think you are right on track. I have only lost 18 pounds since being sleeved on 02/11/13. I started taking measurements a couple weeks ago (kept forgetting to buy measuring tape when I went shopping). This is helping because although I can see the difference in how my clothes fit, I want to see results. Also, starting on the 20th of this month, I started using the elliptical rather than the treadmill. I have never been able to do more than 10 minutes on it. I have been doing 30 minutes, 3 times a week. So, even though the scale is moving slowly, I seeing results in other places. -
Is it enough?
Chaparra replied to usmcmorninngstar@yahoo.com's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I was also sleeved on 02/11/13. I've lost 18 pounds since surgery. I think we must be doing something right since it's about the same for all of us. Also, my clothes are much looser. I haven't been able to go to a smaller size yet because of my thunder thighs, but I sure can tell the difference in how my clothes fit. =) I was 262 at weigh in on the day of surgery. -
I didn't have the problem you are having, but had a similar one. I wasn't able to fully empty my bladder. Was checked for kidney stones, none. Doctor said it was because of my weight and told me to sit "backwards" on the toilet. Um, yeah, right. Like I'm really going to do that! Anyway, since having the surgery, the problem went away. So nice to not have to worry about leakage after you get up from the toilet. =)

Binge Eating Food Funeral
Chaparra replied to crazeegl99's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did this the weekend before I had to start my pre-op diet, but that was it. I don't regret doing it and don't crave the foods I used to eat. -
Until you get it under control, make sure you take iron pills because all that blood loss will make you anemic.

I'm one that always felt like I was smaller than my pictures looked, until I got at my heaviest, 287. I was having problems moving around normally. Now that I have lost 40 pounds (262 on day of surger), I'm starting to feel like my old self again and am feeling thinner. I've accepted being a "big" girl, and have never had a problem attracting men, but I can't wait to see how things are in a smaller body.

5 weeks out and still have very swollen stomach
Chaparra replied to Gwen52's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm curious about this too. I still have the bulge above my belly button, but have noticed that below it has gotten smaller. At my last check up, my doctor explained that the mass that I feel under the incision site is still healing and will eventually go away. I guess I should have asked when. LOL
