I had my surgery at Cedars Sinai too. They were amazing. All the nurses were so friendly and helpful!

Hi soocalchic - I just had my sleeve surgery a few weeks ago by Dr. Khalili. I'm just curious why you had your original surgery with him but then didn't use him for your follow-up surgeries. If it's too personal don't worry about answering. I guess it's too late for me to change at this point though.

I'm in Culver City. I had my sleeve at Cedars Sinai April 8th. They were great. I ended up staying 2 nights. The nurses were great and the process was really efficient. Good Luck at Cedars!

Did you throw up? post op? or after you were sleeved?

Kari I am so glad you posted this. I am 6 days out from surgery and have horrible hunger pains. My stomach will start to hurt like it's empty and then after a few minutes my stomach will growl and it will feel fine again. It is definitely not head hunger as I really have no desire to eat I just feel these horrible physical sensations of hunger. I have seen on other posts people say its rebound acid production and to talk to my dr about increasing my PPI and adding Gaviscon. I'm going to ask my dr about it this week. I know it's very frustrating especially this early out. I am just working on dealing with the hand I'm dealt and staying with my nutrition plan. I'm hopeful once I get to mushies like cottage cheese in conjunction with the PPI that it will be better. Good Luck!!!!

Congratulations!!! I know when I found out I started shaking. It makes it so real. Don't worry you will be fine. I actually had a band removal in October which makes my surgery a little more complicated. But I've told myself I've done a ton of research, I have an excellent surgeon who I trust and I'm just going to relax and trust in him. You will do great!!!!

I debated about work as well. I have a severe hiatal hernia that is getting repaired at the same time so that is what I've told them. I'm sure it will get approved and you'll do great. I'm definitely no authority but it looked to me like people who got denied got a response very quickly. I took the position of longer the wait the better.

My doctor actually told me not to lose any weight before the surgery so I'm not on any kind of pre-op diet. I think that's because he wanted my BMI to stay at 40 since you qualify without co-morbitities. I'm supposed to do a clear liquid diet for 2 days before surgery. I'm definitely relieved though to have heard from insurance. Although I do think its made it a bit difficult mentally. It wasn't real until yesterday and now I have less than a week.

I had my band removed in October and I'm scheduled for my sleeve on Monday April 8th. I hated every minute of the band as I never felt full just in pain. I have high hopes for the sleeve. Good luck!!! I'm sure it went great! -
I am also scheduled for April 8th. I was freaking out too because I didn't have my insurance approval yet. I just got it today...yikes now it's real! Good luck!!!

So I guess I'm starting my new journey today. I had the realize band put on in August of 2008. I had put on about 100lbs in a 2 year period from 2004 - 2006 after having knee surgery. I was really struggling and had high hopes for the band. After 4 years of problems I finally had it removed along with my gall bladder in October 2012. My doctor that removed the band was a different one than the one that put it in and he is wonderful. So I meet with him today to follow-up on my October surgery and to tell him that I have made the decision to move forward with VSG....eeeekkkk scary. After my experiences with the band I am very scared to have another surgery but I need help and I am a fighter so I will do what I need to in order to commit to my health. So one of the things that makes me a little nervous is that even though I really like my surgeon and he has done VSG's and is willing to do one with me the majority of his patients opt for the RNY. I feel really comfortable with him and don't want to go to another surgeon. Does anyone have any questions for me that I should ask him before moving forward? Thanks to everyone on this site - you all have helped me to make my decision.
