Thinking of Band to Sleeve Revision and have a question
Newme48 replied to stacielynntate's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I agree, make sure your surgeon has experience with revisions. When they are in there and start to remove the band they have to cut through the scar tissue to remove it and then they need to free up the part of your stomach to perform the sleeve. If they nick the stomach at all and expose gastric contents they will postpone the sleeve part at least for a couple of weeks to prevent an infection. It is a risk and it does depend on your scar tissue. Usually people do fine. It is a little tougher for the surgeon technique wise and well worth it! Good luck to you! -

Anyone feel wierd not having all the preop appts when going to mexico?
Newme48 replied to cpeycke's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I had my surgery in the states, however if I did not have insurance approval and I had the money upfront I probably would have gone to Mexico. There are a lot of people on here that are having tremendous success so they must be doing everything right in Mexico. I do feel that it takes a special type of person to go this route. Getting your head around your diet and eating habits and maintaining a conscious and continuous effort to change from the old habits/diet is KEY. Congratulations to everyone that is able to make this choice for themselves!! I firmly believe this is a tool to be respected and not a stand alone cure! -
Woke up from Surgery with nothing....
Newme48 replied to luvzpitbullz's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am extremely happy with my sleeve. I am 8 months out from my surgery and if I include my preop diet I have lost a total of 106lbs. What I am learning NOW about myself is trying to stay away from old habits. Don't let yourself get caught up with old eating habits and foods that are just plain bad for you. You are doing all of this work and research for a reason. Keep a positive attitude and your eye on your goals! Set small realistic goals for yourself. You will be amazed at the amount of success you can achieve. Good luck to you!!! -

I am not sure what your doctor has for your dietary schedule but if you are allowed poached eggs then is it possible for you to enjoy the proteins like tandoori chicken although in smaller bites/servings. Possibly shred it with some liquid to make more acceptable or digestable. Soups where my favorite post op. Good luck to you!

Yes I think it is possible! Remember to keep hydrated. While you are in the hospital after your surgery I would recommend getting up and walking at least every 1-2 hours. It really helps with the gas pain and getting rid of it as well as helping your body recover from the anesthesia. The more you move around the better and I personally feel that keeping fluids easily on hand at all times is KEY in your recovery. Little sips at a time and frequently. Enjoy your trip and good luck with your surgery!

Walking is the best! I had horrible gas pain! The more you walk the better. I walked about every 1-2 hours even in the hospital. Good luck to you and congratulations!

Thanks I just ordered one too! Can I ask what the shavings are on top of your dinner in the picture? They look too translucent to be Parmesan. Thanks!
-
question, tomorrow surgery!
Newme48 replied to ReadyNewM3's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't need them! The hospital should have everything you need. I was on clear liquids for a week and a half. Remember to take it slow and drink small quantities like 15-20 ml every 15 minutes. It all adds up and will help keep you hydrated. Ask for liquid pain med like Roxicet for any post op pain at home. It helped me! Good luck to you! -
FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved
Newme48 replied to DivaNurse's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My highest weight was 290 -something. Surgery weight was 268 on feb 5th. 7 months and 13 days later I am at 184. I can wear a size 14 slim jean! I rely on spanx!! These are the best invention ever! Ha ha! Taking it day by day and never taking my eyes off my goals! This is by far the best thing I have ever done for my health! Congrats to every one here and thank you also for your continued support! Recently I had to have my gallbladder removed. Any advice appreciated with that experience!
