  1. I have experienced the same looks from complete strangers. It does hurt and it can make you avoid things. I had a nice experience with a yoga instructor. She was very helpful and made the experience good. I have to say the most disappointing experience for me is when we take our son to an amusement park, in the past it has been Disney world, Hershey park, six flags, dorney park you name it. I would sometimes try to get on a ride if it looked like I could fit, only to be disappointed when the three of us get on the ride and I have to pass. This was so embarrassing, especially when strangers on the ride would stare and laugh. Hurtful because I can't experience roller coasters which I used to love, with my son and then catch a glimpse in his eye that I am different from other moms. That experience is what started me on my journey to WLS. I cannot wait till I can go back to some of those parks!!

I was told a year by my nut. I've been secretly having a little wine though
  4. Protect your new 'tool' follow their instructions and prevent a leak!! I was on clear liquids for a week after surgery and then full liquids after that. Now I am on puréed. Let your sleeve have time to heal at the staple lines. You will do fine! Good luck to you!!
  5. Hi, I am curious also! My surgeon has me on Actigol. It is to prevent gall stones. I was curious if you we're prescribed this too. I haven't been taking them exactly as I am suppose too but I will after today! I hope all is well with you and you will do fine.
  6. Hello! I was sleeved on 2/5 and am trying to keep track and downloaded my fitness pal. I read a lot of comments about everyone being friends on my fitness pal and could use some inspiration with this app. I work 2 jobs to get by and would really like to get the most out of this app. Is anyone willing to be my friend?? Ha ha it sounds pathetic but I would really like to be friends with fellow sleevers. If so, how do I add you? It might be best to message me your email? Thanks in advance! I love this website and how everyone helps each other!!
  7. Thank you!! This is awesome!! YOU are definitely an inspiration!!
  8. Request your pain meds so you can get it under control. The BESt thing to do is walk it off. Don't let the pain make you bedridden. Oops!! Just realized your post is from almost a month ago. Lol I am sure you have no pain by now!! Sorry!
  9. May I ask what your diet and activity were like during the week prior to the whoosh?! I soooo would love to experience this. Congratulations!

    Eating to fast?

Take it easy on the dairy. Try to stay on the liquids and give your sleeve time to heal. You do not want to develop a leak. I agree keep in touch with your surgeon. And especially your nutritionist. Walking is the absolute best way of getting the gas to move. It may not feel good to walk but it does get easier. Please put yourself first. If your surgeon needs you to do something, listen to him/her. They want you to succeed too.
  11. My MD has me on protonix for the next 6 months ( my surgery was on 2/5) I was on liquids for 2 weeks after my surgery and will be on puréed till 3/19. Measure your foods ahead of time. I measure no more than 1/4 cup and am usually full before I finish. Stop when u finish the 1/4 cup and see if that satisfies you. I would communicate these symptoms to you surgeon. You want to do everything possible to prevent a leak. Everyone here will have great suggestions and tips but you must always be diligent in communicating with your surgeon and nutritionist. They know you best. Good luck to you.
  12. Sleeved on 2/5, including pre-op I have lost 45 lbs. Probably 25 lbs since surgery although it has tapered off the last couple of weeks. Last week I lost 2 lbs. starting exercise regimen today and hopefully the couch to 5 k program. I would appreciate any tips on how to get the most from this wonderful 'tool' especially any diet tips to help melt more off. Thanks!
  13. My surgery was on February 5th. Please take the walking suggestions seriously. There are TWO gas pains. The CO2 gas used to inflate your belly to do the surgery is the cause of the shoulder pain. I knew of the pain from other people describing it but did not realize how intense it would be the first night. The absolute Best thing I ever did was get up and walk the first day post op. When I realized how much better I felt after walking, I was walking around the nursing unit every 1-2 hours. Request your pain meds. Don't let the pain get out of control because then it will be hard for them to work when you do take them. Good luck to you. The pain is temporary. I was great after day 3 or 4. You will do fine!!

    Having a hard time

I was sleeved on the 5th. For postop I was on clear liquids until my first post op visit the following week. During that time I sipped my liquids using a 1oz medicine cup. I had to keep track and maintain 6 1oz cups per hour. This was easy. After my post op visit I am now on full liquids. Creamed soups (strained) broths, sugar free jello and sugar free pudding and 1-2 protein shakes/day. Next week I will start puréed. I think if you use the med cups to prevent you from gulping too much at once. This might be easier. Good luck to you!
  16. Try drinking out of 1 oz cups (like the medicine cups) use it 6 times an hour to keep hydrated. I had to do and RECORD this till my first post op visit. It did work and was very easy. Good luck!

    Thank you!

    Almond sweet

May I ask what 'oak' is on the list? This looks delicious!
  19. I will not lie the drain is a quick hurt, like a punch in your side. But you will be relieved when it is out!! Are you taking any pain mess? I was given a liquid pain med called roxicet. It definitely helped at home and I haven't needed it for the past week. I have not pressed the issue of fullness. I follow the limits for intake given by my surgeon. It will hurt if you take in too much. Could this be the pain you are talking about? Good luck!
  20. I had the sleeve because I did not want to reroute and deal with dumping and malabsorption. If the sleeve is not enough it can be changed to the RNY. I believe they call it a duodenal switch. I am hoping to not resort to that. I want to keep the mindset that the sleeve is a tool and I must use it not abuse it! Good luck to you!

Working out within the first month of surgery...

What about changing the incline on a treadmill? Good luck!
  22. Congratulations! I am 11 days out from surgery. No problems so far. Feel the need to organize my diet, do you have any advice or can you give example of what a day on your nutrition is like? Thanks!

    What to Wear there ?

Yep, all great advice above. I brought my robe and draped it over my shoulders to walk in hallways because I still had an IV for two days. So I just kept hospital gowns on. By all means walk, walk, walk, it makes such a difference and helps rid the gas. You will feel much better. Good luck to you!

    10 days post surgery

Are you drinking your water? Water helps. You should be getting your protein first. Good luck to you!
