    eating bread!

I have eaten steak many times. He probably does not want you eating bread because it will take up room in your pouch that is meant for protein. Bread could also expand in your stomach and may cause discomfort this early on.

    Foot Drop

My mom got this from knee replacement surgery. That has been worse on her than the surgery. It is nerve damage so I am not sure if it will get any better. It has not for her.
  3. Sleeved January 30th. Down 80LBS!!

    PB2

I bought some and think it is awesome. I do not advise mixing with protein shakes unless you are going to blend it. I put some in a shaker bottle and it got all clumpy. I put a little in a bowl and mix it with water. Just like peanut butter. You can make it as wet or as dry as you want and can add splenda or salt if you choose. Have not tried the chocolate yet.
  5. Any good iPhone apps for before/after photos? I hit 80lbs lost yesterday and want to put up some pics but can't find an app to do side by side photos

    Incision pain...

It is just a deep incision that will take time to heal. The big one bothered me for about a month. From bad to just an annoyance until it went away. Good Luck!!

    Incision pain...

The largest incision hurt for a while. It did not get worse but if I moved the wrong way it felt like I was being stabbed. Any redness or itching? I would call your doc regardless just to be safe.
  9. Anybody know about this? Is it something we could use?
  10. Ok at two months out? Can't call my nut or surgeon
  11. I had surgery on January 30th. In the morning I have about 8 oz of protein shake. Sometimes less than 2 scrambled eggs. For lunch I usually have 3 cheese sticks and around 8 wheat thins. For dinner about 4 oz chicken/fish/pork/hamburger. Then about 8 oz of protein shake before bed. Usually getting about 40-60 oz of water a day. Is this too much? Not enough? About right? I have been losing a couple lbs a week but gained 4/10 of a pound since Sunday.

    Too much or not enough?

I should rephrase that. I usually cook two scrambled eggs and end up giving one to the dog. The liquids is just water. I try to do 60 oz a day but dont get that many most days. I left out about 12 oz of coffee a day with a couple oz of light cream and 3 splenda. For dinner tonight I grilled .65 lb of salmon and ate about half of it. I am wondering if it is muscle I am putting on because I went back to work and am more active. Like I said, have not stalled and have lost every week so I think I am doing pretty good. Just curious. I called my NUT today to check with her but she was not in the office.

    Too much or not enough?

I am 6"2. As I said I have lost every week. Have not had any stalls. Was losing a pound a day until a few weeks ago when it started to be about 3 lbs a week.
  14. Went to Bonefish with my wife for lunch today. Watching her eat the bread was tough. I got a small grilled salmon. Ate 1-2 small pieces of broccoli and most of my salmon and that was it. Waitress thought there was something wrong with my food because I ate so little!!
  15. THEIR sorry. I had to correct that. It drives me nuts when I see that
  16. Hey Susie. Sorry to hear that. Good job on the weight loss though. Its tough in Peru to stay away from the carbs. I know. I messaged you before. My wife is from Peru. I had heard that the by pass was better to cure diabetes even though the sleeve seemed to be doing it as well. A lot of cholesterol is your genes. Even if you exercise, watch what you eat and are thin, you can still have high cholesterol. While I love Peru, there medical care is not really up to par IMO. I would do the tests again just to make sure.
  17. I am no NUT or DR. I would not do that long term but in the short term it may help you.
  18. I would try to limit your carbs to about 20/day for a week to see if that kick starts you.
  19. I had gas for the first two days after surgery. It went away after that. I did have pain from my incisions to some degree for at least a month.
  20. I know this is going to sound crazy but I weighed myself for the first time in a week and I was really disappointed that I only lost 3.5 lbs this week. I know that is still good but I was losing 1lb/day up until this week. I did go back to work this week and dont think I drank as much water/crystal light.

    liquor

I was sleeved January 30th. No alcohol for me yet. Doc said I could have it 4 months out. I believe VSG patients are supposed to feel the effects because the stomach is so small that the alcohol does not stay in the stomach as long as when it was full sized so it kind of flushes through the stomach and gets absorbed right away.
  23. First day back at work. Man does it suck. What doesn't suck is my pants being about two sizes too big and my belt being on the last hole and being too big!!

    Lettuce

I am about 6 weeks out. I am not allowed any kind of salad as of right now for the reason that PDX man stated. It is one of the last things to be added back into your diet. Corn, asparagus and raw celery are also no-no's right now.

    Beef

So I am 6 weeks out and we stopped to get my wife sone Chinese for dinner. I got beef on a stick. Very tender beef. I chewed it forever and did not have any problems with it. My diet from my doctor has soft foods for weeks 5-6 and nothing else after that. I am assuming that I can pretty much have anything I can tolerate now? Of course I will call but that seems to be the norm right?
