    Getting sleeved in 8 days

Hi, I am scheduled to be sleeved on the 25th as well in Buffalo, NY. I am still nervous because insurance hasn't approved yet... After that, I'll be in my glory.

    So disappointed in myself!

Sorry, but I haven't been on the boards this week. Did pre-op, PCP's approval...I am the one that the doctor is not putting on a pre-surgical diet. Maybe he will after my final weigh in on Tuesday, with surgery scheduled for the following Monday. My name is Carol, current weight 223, height 5'3".

    So disappointed in myself!

I am fortunate that my doctor is not having me do any pre-op diet. I think that I will do a bunch of protein shakes just for the fact that I gained 4 pounds since my last weigh in. My final weigh in is on Feb 19, with a surgery date of Feb. 25. Just nothing to eat or drink after midnight the day of surgery. Not too bad for me, except I have to be at the hospital at 8.30 and surgery isn't slated until 11.30 and you have to walk past the Tim Hortons Bake Shop in the hospital to get there. Ohhh, the smell is intoxicating.

    If you suffer from anxiety...

I have heard that after getting sleeved, you have to crush all your pills. Does anyone out there know if it is true?
  6. Silly question, but can the Protein shakes be mixed with just Water, or can I blend them with skim milk? Thanks...
  7. Not that I'm a cheater or anything, but did anyone try laxatives to get rid of some excess weight a few days before the final weigh in?
  8. Does it matter if you drink plain Water before meals pre-op to get used to it, or is it okay to use sugar-free drink mixes: Thanks.
  9. Don't be afraid to ask the nurses for anything. They work there for you. Don't like the pillow you have, ask if they have any others that you can try. If you are cold, ask for a heated blanket. They had those when I had my c-section and they are wonderful.

    Cobra

As of January 14, I had all paperwork in place, pre-op scheduled, medical clearance scheduled and a sleeve date of 2/25. That all changed when my husband was laid off of his job on January 14. Now we have to pay out of pocket for Cobra to the tune of $1779.00 per month. We will need at least 2 months to pay for that. Then, the first 90 days after surgery are free. I have high colesterol, high blood pressure, on heart medication, and have sleep apnea. I physicially need this surgery to make my self healthy for my husband and two boys ages 16 and 10, I am 47 with a bmi of 39. I feel so bad taking the money away from the household to pay for the surgery, but we need coverage and even though we applied for a NYS health care plan, it won't kick in until May or June 1, 2013. Now, I just feel down on myself and want to eat everything in sight. I have had my initial weigh in, a weigh in with a nurse practioner, and am supposed to have my final weigh in on the 19 of February. What do they expect at that one? More weight loss, or steady weight. I had a hard time between my second weigh in and now, Thanksgiving, Christmas and now Valentines Day. I don't have much self control, especially now. How much out of pocket did any of you pay to have your surgery doone? Was it worth it. I know it will be worth it in the end, I have even purchased my Protein shakes. I think that I have only gained 3 pounds since my last weigh in, I will go back to south beach phase 1 to get going again. I did borrow three excercise videros from the library, and I will start those today. I hope some of you can help me work through this. I have been a lurker on this board and have found excellent information. Thaniks for listening. BuffaloCarol
