I WANT A DIET COKE SO BAD...HOW CAN I FLAT IT OUT
NewKristen replied to dat_sweetmami's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Be nice love. If this is easy for you, then that is awesome. It isn't easy for everyone. And what the OP is asking isn't insane. My doctor says patients can drink diet pop as long as they let it go flat at 2 weeks. -
I WANT A DIET COKE SO BAD...HOW CAN I FLAT IT OUT
NewKristen replied to dat_sweetmami's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I totally understand how you are feeling! I also read the headline where you asked how you can flatten it out. The answer is that you just let it sit out until it looses the carbonation. However, the caffeine isn't good for you right after surgery. My doc said to wait 2 weeks, before I could have caffeine. Some docs say longer. My doctor also said I could let it go flat and then drink it at 2 weeks. However, make sure you are following your docs rules. There is a reason they give us these rules. -
I am going to tell you a big secret to feeling good and having confidence all the way through this WLS journey. We all have moments where our clothes don't fit right. Even when they are getting too big and loose, it can make us feel frumpy and awkward. Sooo...the secret to always feeling sexy...? Panties! Buying new panties are just as important as having clothes that fit. Go through your drawers and throw out the granny panties, the Hanes her way with holes in them...and get yourself a little something sexy or functional...your choice. Just make sure you feel confident in them and they fit. Those who are girdling it up....that's cool. Just make sure they aren't stained up or falling apart. I can wear baggy sweats and still feel like a Goddess with a little lace or ruffles! That is just a little tip from how I roll.

Life is just too short to not be happy. I know, it is so cliche' but so true. I am really glad that there are others who are seizing the moment and enjoying life now.

Just be confident in your decision. This is your life, as long as you are happy and confident in the decision...everyone else will have to get over it. I also wouldn't argue with her. If she tries, give her information (printed off the Internet - whatever you can find) that supports why you chose this procedure. But obstain from arguing with her. If she doesn't have an open mind, there isn't anything you can say to change her. It wi just frustrate you, because you are the one who is educated and aware...and you are trying to argue with someone who isn't.

Lane Bryant has some sexy panties too! I always loved their panties with the little ruffles all over them! I have this cheetah print set that is a Demi bra and this little thing with a sheer cheetah print skirt thing over it. So sexy! Not really functional under other clothes, but smoking hot. I really like the VS cheeky's too! very comfortable, sexy and functional. Can't go wrong with that!

Quote from Dr. Sharma's website got me thinking (WL goal related)
NewKristen replied to FineChyna's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
One thing to remember is that the sleeve is a relatively new surgery, as far as research is concerned. Until about a couple years ago, bariatric docs were telling patients that the weight loss with the sleeve was comparable to the lap band. Now research suggests that patients on average will lose 80% of their extra weight. I am not sure how long ago this doctor wrote this, or if they were including all weight loss surgeries together and citing statistics together. I am also not sure where the research they cited came from. This is what I do know. This surgery isn't a solution for me. It is an aid. I will meet my target goal, partially because of the assistance of this aid..,but mostly because I have decided to be unrelentless in the pursuit of becoming healthy. Reading that article inspires me to prove the doctor wrong. -

Ate one slice of 7" pizza frm dominos! :)
NewKristen replied to Plushie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A lot of us have ate something we shouldn't have on a post-op diet. I didn't eat pizza, but I ate a couple yogurt covered pretzels. You just need to get back on the horse and follow your doctors orders, so you don't risk any damage to your stomach. And yeah...you have to limit carbs, and as you know pizza crust has a ton of them. There is a reason the doctor wants you to eat a certain way. That is because it is your best of chance of healing without any additional complications - like leaks. So make sure you stick to those orders. -
On the plane to San Diego!
NewKristen replied to atlsleevegirl's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Oh my goodness. That is a long flight! Walking every hour might help break it up some! Yes, he is pretty awesome. He worked for what he called "The Academy", which from what I understand was an Olympic training facility. He was a sports scientist, and tested athletes on their strength and conditioning. He lived here in the states and worked at a university here for a while, but he is native NZ. Valerie really liked him from working with him at The Academy and when she replaced her old coach a few years back, she brought him on as part of her team. I think she has 3 coaches all together, and he still works at The Academy some, too. The best part...is that he is 5'4" and Valerie is like 6'4". He has several pictures of them working out on Facebook, and a few publicity shots...and the difference between their size is amazing. -
Hey Sannah! I am glad that you are improving!! I will be praying for your upcoming decisions, that everything will be clear for you! Have a great weekend! K

PRE-OP Diet: TODAY I MESSED UP, BIG HUGE MEGA TIME :-(

It doesn't take long to get your liver back in ketosis. Hang in there!! -
My Surgeon's office recommended 3 psychiatrists in the area to do the eval. I called the first one and you could tell she was super flaky - very eccentric on the phone, wasn't sure when she could fit me in. Called the second one - she explained that it would require multiple visits to clear me. Called the third one and they couldn't fit me in for awhile. I chose door 1! She was flaky. And real weird! She only required one visit though. She seemed more interested in the reasons in chose her over the other two, that she was in doing my evaluation. However, she finally started. It was an hour long. She gave me a pre-Alzheimer's exam. She asked me a lot of questions about my eating/exercise patterns. She also told me that I am a self mutilator because I have my lip pierced. It was quite lovely. I just played along so she would give me the eval.

It does!!! I thought the same!
