I usually don't respond to posts that are likely to cause more ill will or sound arguementative , because I think it is very easy to misinterpret what someone is saying in print .(Namely me ) . That being said, I will try to clarify that I KNOW she had weight loss surgery and I don't care . I never ever asked her about anything because we do not share that close of a relationship. She got into my conversation and she lied . I know she had the surgery for many more reasons than I listed because I was trying to keep it short and was really trying to make a point she told an unsolicited lie and it was hurtful, end of story . I am not here to make enemies I am simply here to receive information and share experiences. This is an experience I had. Amy

What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
VWbuslover replied to bigjoe102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I started thinking about WLS when my airplane seat belt wouldn't buckle. I fly every 3 weeks !!! I have to fly for work . I had to ask my sister in law thats works for an airline if she could get me an extender because I was mortified every time I flew to work and then back home. but the worse thing , the one that broke the camels back was when we went dipnet fishing for silvers ( which we do every year) we bough me some new waders and Water proof boots because I love fishing and my husbands old ones didn't fit me anymore . Well, I got out there and it's muddy and on an incline. You can probably see where this is going, yep ,I got stuck . My 25 year old son was with us so he helped me out and back up to the firm ground and I couldn't even fish. So devastating , there were people everywhere . No one laughed though so that was good. Like all of you I have so many reasons and I get winded so easily . -
I have a coworker that only works with me sometimes and she is extreemly thin. I never asked her about weight loss at all ,Not knowing that she had ever been overweight . But , as a nurse I can see all the signs of a gastic bypass, Hair thinning and relatively unhealty, tiny meals throughout the day. no driinking during meals. Dumping syndrom when she ate sweets.( However ,she loved her sweets , then she'd vomit every day ) very saggy skin.... I mentioned (to my friend )that I was having a hard time trying to stop drinking soda and eating potatoes and my coworker sitting at the same table said that she lost 145 lbs in 7 months with diet and excercise ...now we work very closely together 12 hours a day shared meals and a room together for two weeks . Never did she exercise even 1 time. She went on and on about how she lost weight by cutting out the very things that were sitting on her plate- until she went to the bathroom to throw up . I was furious that she would do that . I felt like she was making it all sound so easy when I know she had surgery? WTH .. Now , I also must disclose that I really didn't like her much before all this happened ( there are reasons related to her telling a lie at work that could have gotten me fired if I could't prove she lied) and of course like her even less now ,but I also feel sorry for her because I didn't even ask her what she did and she felt the need to LIE about it, And make me look weak at the same time ? Weird because I have never done anything to her?

My Mother had a lapband placed by Dr Chu a couple of years ago. My mom was not happy with her but that's not saying too much because my mom is really something else. I can hardly go by just one side. My mom is pretty noncompliant if you ask me. But she is alone and unhappy so I do uderstand. She swears that Dr.Chu didn't put enough Fluid in the band and that's why she didn't loose more weight- not because everytime I'm home visiting she has sweets all over and ice cream in the freezer. As well as loading up on more sweets "For my husband and me " All I will say is that my mom did not do well with her last two surgeries ( thyroid prior to lap band ) and she had major complications . Dr. Chu handled the ones from her surgery very well . I don't think my mom should have had that surgery , not because I was nonsupportive but because she almost died during the previous one. Thats all I know . I'm sorry that I don't know more but Mom lives in Louisiana and I live Alaska. Amy

In Alaska it's only 530 so I have a couple of hours to go. I'm still at work anyhow. I can't wait. Amy -
The last time I lost weight was 10 years ago, my husband and I were dating . I lost 70 lbs and I looked super great at 160 . I got lots of attention that I did not know how to handle and mostly just left from where ever I felt uncomfortable. I even left work crying one day because I changed out of my scrubs into regular size 14 jeans and a nice fitted shirt. Everyone at work freaked out and started saying things and looking at me saying turn around AND OMG and just nice stuff . I was just overwhelmed and burst into tears . lol looking back I just wasn't ready for all that . I just left really quickly When men were flirting with me I somehow brought out that I had a boyfriend into the conversation and most times that alleviated most of the stress. of course my husband and I were dating before I lost weight , He knows how uncomfortable I am now . I don't believe he will overreact when I loose weight . But I do think he will be worried , that's human nature. ( He know's how great I am ) hahaha. I expect to have to go out of my way to reassure him , but thats ok by me. If unwanted or uncomfortable attention comes your way - you can always just walk out of the room . In fact you should until you are comfortable with it.

Hi, I am Living in Alaska ,Originally from Louisiana and made the final decision to have the Sleeve two days ago. I met a person here that just had it done a few months agao and he looks so good and healthy . I am so happy to have found this forum I am an LPN and have been over weight my whole life ,since 16 and I'm just so tired of fighting . I have lost and gained the same 60 and 70 lbs over and over . I thought had it licked until I blew out my knee 8 years ago and here we go again... now a hundred pounds later I need to do something. Anyhow , I don't post a whole lot but you can bet I'll be misspelling words so please be kind I have not figured out money or made a choice in surgeons yet but I figure 4 to 6 months out I will be getting it done. I can't go the insurance route because My Doctors all say I'm too 'healthy" what ? I weigh 263 and am 5'3" , How can I be too healthy ? I work away from home so I haven't spoken to my husand yet. Now telling my Mom and sister that will either be a week/day before the actual surgery takes place hahaha. Since i'm from Louisiana ,you know they will have some strong opinions. I brought up WLS a couple of years ago and they were not very supportive . Anyhow just getting in my intro. I misspell a lot of words so please be kind Amy
