  1. I have seen others say it gets better after surgery. I had TVT surgery to fix the problem after my sleeve surgery. I don't think mine would have improved with weight loss. You can check with your ob/gyn or urologist. They can do a test to see how bad the problem is. I can say with the cold and cough I have had, it is working 100%.
  2. It's okay. If you take 33 and divide it by 13 for the number of weeks in 3 months, it averages 2.5 pounds a week. You are losing and showing progress. Any loss is a loss and not a gain. Too often people want to rush the process. I have heard that if you lose slower it can help your skin to adapt to your new body. Not sure if it's true or not. What's going to happen at the end when you reach goals is you will still have to watch what you eat to maintain the weight. Enjoy the ride along the way. We didn't put it on overnight so it won't come off overnight. When people want it to happen fast, reminds me of little kids in the car when you're going on a long trip saying, "are we there yet?"
  3. The answer is it depends. You will find that answer throughout the forum regarding pre and post-op diets and how long off work. A lot depends on the type of job you have. If you are a nurse and lift patients or a very physical job, it will likely be longer than a person who has a desk job. I was off a week, had a different surgery the following Monday and worked from home half days the remainder of the second wee. I returned to work full time the following week.

I'm having a bit of a tough time

That describes all of us at times. The word I use is naginator.
  5. Hi, I have a thread started on this also using the SMART method Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Timely. When you write down your plans your odds of achieving it increase dramatically. Here is the link if you're interested in viewing it. http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/291871-2014-new-years-resolution/ Thanks. Good luck to you with your goals.
  6. Is your coffee caffeinated? My doc's office says caffeine can cause acid and gerd. I take Dexilant for heartburn. I had it very bad with my lapband for over three years. My doctor has you take a PPI for 6 months post op and then if you no longer have problems, he discontinues it. So far since my sleeve I have had no problems.

    Oh GREAT!

RJ, I can one up you on this one. I had a biopsy on my uterus over 5 years ago with the diagnosis of post menopausal. In October I had my sleeve surgery and then early November had TVT surgery and started spotting for a few days. Three weeks after the second surgery I spotted for three plus weeks. I felt like it was an April Fool's joke that my periods had stopped. Arts, For me at least the hot flashes only come after exercise, at night when asleep or if I have a glass of wine. (That must be Skippy talking about wine).

    2014 New Year's Resolution

Erp, I hope you make your goal of 140 for your 1st surgiversary. That is also my goal weight. As we get closer to goal the harder it is to get it off. Seems to be permanently attached. I am not a runner but wish you well on your two 5Ks. I too hope to have plastics later. Will wait to take inventory at the end and see what needs fixing and what the budget can afford. Thank you for posting and I look forward to your progress in 2014.

    SLIP...... Lets be HONEST!

RJ, as you know sometimes even when you plan, it just doesn't happen that way. I agree planning is a big part of success. You have to have the right foods in place, plan menus, exercise. If you don't plan you can easily get waylaid and fall into old habits. Love your post. Everyone is human and we do things every day that we thought we would never do...We make mistakes! We chose poorly and pay for our mistakes by either beating ourselves up over it or denying the entire incident.. Every day brings new challenges and things learned about ourselves and this life long change we are all making...Every day!!! Every single day!!!! So worth it though, because you may just learn somethings about yourself that can change your life for the better and help that inner you to shine true.....

Endless80, watch the ice cream because it is a slider you could fall since it's frozen. I know, don't quit your day job.

    SLIP...... Lets be HONEST!

First off, I think different people use different terms. It could be regional or cultural and most times know what they mean. The following definition of slip is from dictionary.com Slip: move, flow, pass, or go smoothly or easily; glide; slide: to slide suddenly or involuntarily; to lose one's foothold, as on a smooth surface: to move, slide, or start gradually from a place or position: to slide out of or become disengaged from a fastening, the grasp, etc.: to pass without having been acted upon or used; be lost; get away: . So I think slip could be appropriate when someone eats something they shouldn't because it can lead to slider foods and it could be an opportunity that was lost and slipped away. You do need to be honest with yourself. If you aren't you are the only person you are cheating. Time after time it has been shown that when you write down or log what you are eating you tend to be much more successful. It keeps you aware, accountable and focused. It also lets you get back on track more quickly if you start to stray. Peggy, you said , "Here's a good question, if using a food log is too hard...is it because you are afraid of being honest about what you are really eating?" If a person does use a food log and logs the slips how would that be interpreted?

Anyone Else Cold All The Time?

I bought some cuddle duds microfleece and have to say I am disappointed in them. I am still cold. Maybe I didn't buy the right kind. I did get these on Amazon and love them. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GVM0HWM/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 You do need to order a size larger than what you wear, which when you're trying to lose weight isn't what we want to do.
