Leigh, It's a tough decision to make. I initally was leaning toward the bypass and it wasn't until months into the program I was in that I switched to the band. I wanted to heal quicker, be back to normal sooner and decided that if after 18 months, bands and bypass loss about the same that they should, that I would rather have the weight come out at a more healthy rate. I've only had this for two weeks, but so far I don't have complaints. I can't say the same for the people I know that have had bypass, they're still have complications from their surgeries from months ago. Good luck to you. -
Hello everyone! I had my surgery just short of two weeks ago at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, NY. I felt good even after the surgery and was really doing well up until a week after surgery. I woke up that morning and it felt like someone sucked the life out of me. (I got my period). I'm doing much better now and will be going back to work tomorrow. I also see my surgeon for the first time tomorrow. I got a lot of information from the program before I had the surgery, but what I know little about is the filling. I'm looking forward to getting as much information and support as I can from this group!

I had my first appointment with the surgeon since my surgery two weeks ago. I've lost 12 pounds since the surgery, a total of 28 pounds since my orientation in June! I now weigh 271 pounds and I'm thrilled! Have a great night everyone!

I had never heard about this before. I too married my best friend and I love him very much. We've had our share of issues, one is our age difference of 21 years. I'm the younger one and the one losing weight but I'm committed to him and to us!

Thank you all! Yes Zoe, I do have three labs, one of each! I love them all very much. Hadley is my chocolate and is 4, Sal is black and 3 and Sammy is yellow and 2 years old. They all have their own personalities but are the most affectionate and lovable dogs I've ever had!

Hi Becca, I know every plan is different and if your doctor gave you details, that would be best to follow. I had my surgery at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, NY. I'm on day 12 and also in the liquid phase, well full liquids which I was able to start the day after surgery. I've been able to have broth, creamed Soups that are strained, unsweetened apple sauce, sugar free Jello and sugar free pudding, sugar free popsicles, cream of wheat or rice with lots of skim milk.

I'm still in the full liquids stage, but going to puree this week. I wanted to get a book on life after the band but couldn't find anything at the store. My husband stumbled across this book, "Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery" by Patt Levine and Michele Bontempo-Saray. In it they break down protein, calories, fiber, everything. They also let you know how much you can have at each stage, whether puree or onto regular foods.

I'm from New York, but I'd be interested in going! It sounds like fun!

I was just banded 12/28. I thought I would be back to work within a week. No such luck! By day 6 I wasn't feeling as good as I had the day after surgery, and by day 7 I had absolutely no energy at all! I'm going back to work, finally, tomorrow! Other than the energy, things have been pretty good!
