I haven't heard of anyone dying from the band. I also saw the story on the Early Show and they were talking about the RNY surgery. There are more complications involved with that surgery, not to say that this surgery doesn't have potential for complications. Make sure you read up on everything, go to support groups and if you make the decision to have surgery, find out about your surgeon. How many surgeries have they done? What complications have they faced? How did they deal with them? I wish you luck!

:Bunny:Bunny:Bunny:Bunny Leatha, Congratulations on your continued success with the band!

Alex, We got about 12 inches here in upstate New York. It does look beautiful if you can just watch it, but going out and taking care of it gets to be a real pain. The dogs love to play in it though and it is fun to watch them. I hope that you're not snowbound for much longer. We luckily haven't gotten the wind yet, we're supposed to sometime today but I'm hoping that it misses us.

Here's a picture of two of the labs resting on me during my recovery phase. The chocolate lab doesn't like to crowded so he doesn't usually lay where he will be disturbed.

I also had to have a psychiatric evaluation. The program I went through was months of meetings, appointments, information. What the psychiatrist told me was that several people have problems with depression prior to surgery and although people would think that would get better after surgery and weight loss, for some it doesn't work that way. For those of us that were emotional eaters, you've lost what used to make you comfortable or get you by. Depression has gotten worse in some patients after surgery so the psychiatrist, team and your insurance want to make sure that you have a plan for after the surgery. Be prepared to be asked questions on what other things you can do to keep you occupied when you have an urge to eat anything that doesn't include your 3 meals a day. Good luck! The evaluation is painless!

Hi Pati, My husband wasn't sure what to think when I initially got the band. Now that we have had a few weeks, he knows that I'm still sitting with him and having whatever I can have while he has a normal meal and he usually finishes before me. He had some concerns about what would happen as I lose weight, but he seems to be getting more comfortable with everything. I tell him everyday that I love him and I'm not going anywhere. Good luck!

Wade, Hang in there! You have lost weight and that alone is a benefit to your health. I'm new to the band and fear that I will be in a similar situation in the not so near future, but all I can tell you is that I want to be healthy. I wish you the best and hope that you are able to find your way back to making choices that will be better for you.

You look great! Congratulations!

Brighteyes, Those weeks of liquids were no fun, but by the time you go on to puree you'll love it! I remember my first baby food meal. I never would have realized I could get so excited about something like that. Good luck!
