im wondering if the size of the stomach ever increases with time like it does with the bypass surgery. i know with the bypass surgery, in time, the pouch grows and i have seen many of bypass patients gain weight, not to the size they were before but they gain a nice amount back but can lose it quicker. does this happen with the sleeve? also can you specify with your surgeon how big or small you want it? there are nutritional concerns. i dont want my stomach to be so small that i can only eat an ounce of food for the rest of my life.

6-8 onces is normal. if you figure 4 ounce of protein and another 2-4 ounces of veggies, that quite a bit especially because the protein is really dense. will you ever get back to being able to eat and drink at the same time? im having a hard time grasping that concept because i need to take sips while i eat. i dont like to eat without drinking. -

i know her bmi is waaayyy over 40. im surprised that kaiser doesn't cover it because what i have learned is it depends on your employer and we also have aetna and united healthcare available and those plans cover it. i wonder why our employer elected not to have it covered with kaiser. hmmm. i did tell her to fight it because she has a host of obesity related issues and has high bmi so i dont see why not.

wow this is interesting. a friend of mine that i work with has kaiser and they wont cover it for her.

ok so im a chicken. i started this process last year and chickened out. the public will definitely scare you.i've heard so many stories of success but also those with complications so im scared of things like blood clots, tears, etc i've also seen people with bariatric surgery go through surgery, loose a bunch of weight and gain it back. what have been your experiences? how do you deal with the loose skin? do you start preparing your skin ahead of time or adopting a workout routine? how do people treat you afterwards? how long before you can go back to eating right? how grueiling is only being able to sip liquids? im just scared but i know i want this procedure.

youre absolutely right. im an emotional eater. ive been struggling with not eating my emotions.

ok thanks. this is what im not understandingabout the surgery, myself, and others who have or are considering having the surgery (my mom had gastric bypass by the way) why do i need to have surgery in order for me to eat well? i think this is the part im struggling with about myself....i dont understand that. the surgery isn't successful if you dont change your eating habits. im looking at the post up nutriition plan and its more grueling than any ive ever seen.
