I'm 5 months post op and 78 lbs down. I have 13 lbs to goal. It probably sounds stupid but I'm having the worst time mentally seeing I have lost weight. When I see myself in the mirror I don't see any change. When I go shopping I'm always still looking in the Xl department. I've been taking pictures every week to try to help it sink in but doesnt seem to help. Any suggestions?

Brian good luck on your new journey. Its not an easy one to say the least but, absolutely well worth the effort. Please keep us updated. =)

Thank you everyone I appreciate the feedback. I just guess it will take time. Next time I will try on a couple times smaller just to see.....

Glad to hear your feeling better. You have to relearn how to eat, drink. It takes a while to get it down. Then it changes the farther post op you get. Eventually You'll be eating a little more and eating whatever you want. Dont beat yourself up for eating/drinking to much, to little. It takes a while to learn. So remember baby steps. Until then smile your on the road to recovery.

Hey glad you finally got home. How are you doing?
-
Good morning- I'm so excited for you. Some people just need more time. It sounds like your ready to go home. Until you get discharged rest/relax. Your new life is right outside your door. Go get it!

My experience was totally different. I had no visitors per my request. I wanted this time to rest and relax and not have to worry about people coming in and out when I'm exhausted or sleeping. The nurse I had said its the best thing for recovery. Take this time for you now because after you leave its back to life where you will not have this kind of time for yourself regularly. You will be home soon so get your rest and remember baby steps. =)

Well keep up the good work. Hopefully you'll be home tomorrow with your kids. It gets easier day by day.

I'm glad your feeling better. You'll be out of there in no time. I didn't use any pain meds after I left the hospital. The abdominal pain is manageable. Did they say when your going home?
-
Remember you need to do the best thing for you. While your there rest up and relax. Sometimes people need xtra time for the stomach to heal. You'll be out of there and back at home in no time. =)

Sorry phone sent message twice

I don't know if they'll do it in the hospital but a heating pad to the abdomen works wonders. I still use it at night for upset stomach. A hot bath works to but your not allowed to bathe for a couple weeks. Ask your nurse if they have one or a hot water bottle works too. =)

Good morning. Are you still in the hospital?

Dont worry about your family and friends. This is the time to take care of you! My kids and a lot of their friends were generally upset that I could even think of doing this surgery. That I was fine the way I was. But now they see me they are happy that I did this for me and only for me. The friends you may lose were really not your friends to begin with. My daughter laughs that I'm now such a cheap date. With my 3 bites of food I really rack up the bill. Lol. I'm driving my friend to her surgery monday morning. Just remember your doing this for you and you are the most important person in the world.

I started at 230. I have about 25 lbs to go. The hardest thing is my brain has not caught up to my body size yet. Its still hard for me to see the amount of weight loss I've had. Who Is doing your surgery and do you have a date scheduled?

Hi, I'm in Boise. I was sleeved by Dr. Oakley on Jan 29. It's been rough these past 3 months. I don't eat much an am dehydrated on a daily basis. I definitely don't regret having the surgery . I would recommend it to anyone thinking about it. I've lost 55 lbs and don't have much more to hit my goal. This surgery is not the easy way out as people think. Just listen to your doctor and take it day by day.

Hi , I buy Fage plain greek yogurt ( 20 grams protein per container) and mix a fruit flavored greek yogurt usually about 14-16 grams of protein. Do that just twice a day and you will almost hit your daily amount of protein. Also soy nuts taste great and one cup is about 36 grams of protein. Salad with beans of any kind, cottage cheese, cubed cheese, tofu. Read labels and experiment with different combinations. I was not a protein drink fan but there are flavorless protein powders you can add to anything . Good luck

Low Thyroid, Bydureon & Anemic questions
patrona replied to Success2013's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I would check with your doctor again. Tsh blood tests are backwards. When the number is low your level is high( hyperthyroid) you are getting to much thyroid they usually decrease your dose. When your level is high you are not getting enough thyroid( hypothyroid) and then they increase your dose. Hypothyroid can cause weight gain, hyperthyroid weight loss. Both can make you tired. -
Hi I'm in Boise. Was sleeved on Jan 29 by Dr. Oakley. I highly recommended him. I have 6 other friends who have used him. I'm 36 lbs down and falling daily.

I'm new here . Had my surgery January 29, 13. I'm down 27 lbs so far. My biggest problem is I barely eat. I can take 4-5 bites of protein and I'm full. I could go all day without eating because I'm never hungry. I could not tolerate more than one ounce of the protein shake at a time. I exercise daily at the gym or hot yoga. Some people have told me to push thru the full feeling but that just made me throw up. If anyone has any suggestions of high protein in small quantities I would appreciate any suggestions. =)

My next check up is at 3 months so 7 week from today.

Omg I haven't worn a bikini since I was in high school. Lol. But, we should be ready by summer. I just got divorced after 25 years of marriage. So dating should get interesting this summer also. Yes, the straw is supposed to be forbidden to use. Its the only way I can get fluids in. Sipping I'll get maybe 20-30 ozs a day. With the straw I can double it. So , oh well I'm not a compliant patient. Lol. I haven't made it shopping yet. I'm going thru my closet first until I run out sizes that fit. Im so happy things are going well for you. I'm going by inches lost more than weight. Weight fluctuates so easy it can get frustrating. Where inches show real progress. Keep up the great work! Btw I'm in Boise, Idaho usa. =)

I'm so happy for you. 4 pant sizes and 20kg. Does it feel real to you yet? Since surgery I'm down 32lbs. I'm 55lbs from my goal weight. It still hasn't set in that it is real. Lol. I'm still not eating much but, I'm getting more clear fluids down which is good. Using a straw to drink has also helped a lot. My fatigue is a little better but, by afternoon at work I'm ready for a nap. Keep up the great work and keep in touch I love to hear your updates. =)

I'm glad everything is going well. I'm doing ok. Trying to find high protein foods in small portions. Fage plain yogurt has 20 grams of protein per serving. I have been trying to eat 3 a day with different types of fruit in it. That way I at least get 60 grams with that only. So, the rest of the day I don't have to worry as much. I have hit a plateau the past week but the inches are still coming off. How has your weight loss been? Is your fatigue getting any better? I hope you are enjoying your weekend.
