Post op march sleevers
krissj replied to gelen's_change's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Sleever Family, I need to be added to the FB page too. I did send a message here to Joe so hopefully he will get it. I learned so much last Friday. It was my one month checkup. First of all I found out I was supposed to be at 20% loss and am at 22%. YAY so I am ahead of where I should be. Excited about that. Secondly I learned why I was having stalls and not losing like I should be. I was hungry all the time and couldn't seem to get full. I got the stink eye from Dr. when I told him I was eating smashed spuds and applesauce. He said those two items are a gastric dieters worst enemy because they go straight through our stomach. Protein has to be eaten first and we fill up faster and stay full. DUH. The protein clogs the stomach exit and allows us to be fuller longer. I tested it out and he was totally right. Now I am on the right track and not snacking all the time. I am sure you all knew this, but for some reason it must have gone in one ear and out hte other so I am glad I am back on track again. I mean, I am not at all upset with what I have lost in my first month, but now I know how I can get it going again. Plus I am working out again with my trainer so that will help a ton in the coming month. In June he said I should be at 35%. Hoping for 40% but we will see. Have a great day everybody. I love reading about everyone. -

Ok, now this is ultra crazy. For the past three or so days I have been a bit depressed. I was stalled with no losses. I was doing what I should with the exception of I hadn't exercised so figured that was the cause of it. Then this morning I had a two lb loss. Then all of a sudden my stupid brain kicked in........ I have lost 22 lbs in less than a month. Actually in less than THREE WEEKS! DUH! What a freaking dough head!!! 22 LBS IN THREE WEEKS. I don't know where I was coming from because that is phenominal! Sheesh. Blond moment I spose. I just have to simmer down, do what is expected of me and go with it. Everything is just fine. I feel great, have gone from a size 18 in pants to a 14 and almost 12, my blouses have dropped a size and I feel great. So what the heck was I stressing over. LOLOL Has anyone else had these kinds of moments?

Any March Sleevers?
krissj replied to futuresleever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
School50, what you are experiencing is spasms of your sleeve. I was warned about these when I went into the hospital. They will subside, but your dr can give you a sublingual med that will really help. I was on one every four hours as needed, but they really hurt when they happened so he put me on two every four hours round the clock and by the third day post op, hey were subsided. I thought they were worse than the gas pains. -

I can't remember who it was, but someone on here mentioned about the "eat slower" app. GENIUS and thank you! I needed something like this and I love it. Seems crazy that a grown adult needs to have an app to tell her how often to eat, but with this new lifestyle, until I get used to it, I am going to use it. THank You, thank you, thank you. I am sure I can ween myself off of it in time, but for now, it iw really helping me a lot, kisses to all -

Hi All, I am feeling so sluggish this morning. Talked to my NUT and she says I am not getting enough carbs. I am still losing, but dang I hate this feeling of wanting to sleep when I get to work. Also, my food substance is getting heavier, YAY. The pureed is just not doing it right now. So lunch today is canned chicken with a tad of low fat mayo and mashed spuds. Quarter of a cup each. LOL Seems so strange to be satisfied with such a small amount. But I am loving the results. I was sleeved on the 7th so have a ways to go to get where I want to be. I am going to get more active starting this weekend too. During the week I just can't seem to get going, but come Saturday I am raring to hit the road running. LOL Hope everyone is doing well this week. -
Vitamin D Deficiency
krissj replied to Katrina Parsons Colemire's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This was a great thread to read. I also have low D levels and are on the 10,000iu dosage. Just started after surgery. and Katrina I am stalling too. I am still losing, but a lot more slowly since taking the vits. Not discouraged though. I know I will keep losing. I am just so excited that I am getting rid of this fat I have carried for so long. I learn something new every day. One thing I know for sure....I HAVE to eat slower. Last night I had to go to play rehersal and I ate my chicken and spuds way too fast. Wasn't thinking and MAN did I pay the price. WHEW never again. But today I am ok, only tired is all. -

Hey all my March sleever buddies. Sorry I have been away. I am almost two weeks post op now and have lost 19 lbs. Already feeling like a new woman. Regarding the poor gentleman who lost his life due to blood clots. Everyone, don't let that sway you please. If you have a good surgeon and staff, they will make sure you are safe. Just do exactly what they tell you and you will be fine. Good luck to all. -

Post op march sleevers
krissj replied to gelen's_change's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Everybody, I was sleeved on the 7th. Gas was horrid and I am still relieving it. My worst part is the spasms. I have had to get my spasm meds inceased and refilled. Other than that I am doing great. I am now able to eat creamed, strained soups and that is like a gourmet meal to me. So far, no problems getting anything down. I eat slowly and there is no problems. I do have to increase my water intake. I was probably shy 8 ozs or more yesterday, but I think with the protein shakes and popsicyles I probably got it all in. I am loving seeing weight drops every day. I am basically losing a pound a day which is awesome. I am a darn scale junkie and no matter how hard I try I have to get on it once a day. Of course coming home from surgery with a 10 lb gain was shocking, but fortunately it came down quickly and the real losses started occuring. I get to have an egg on Friday before my follow up appt and I can't wait. I love eggs so this is going to be a real treat. Congrats to everyone. -

Hi Everybody, Well, I am now a graduate of this group. I wanted to give you all a brief snopsys of my experience. Surgery was on the 7th and all went wonderfully. The hospital staff was fantastic and I can't say enough about my surgeon. He was so awesome. I was in hospital Thurday and Friday. I keep having these spasms that are uncomfortable so am calling dr in the morning about it. the pills work temporarily, but that's it. Am now on creamed soups and protein shakes again after enduring several days of clear liquids. Almost feels like a gourmet meal. Glad it is over and am now on the losing end of this deal. Good luck to all in your surgeries. Kriss -

WOW day of surgery and I can't sleep. It is 4am and I am wide awake. I worked hard to get rid of my cold and I think it worked for the most part. No coughing or sneezing. Just a bit of congestion remains and some flem I cough up on occasion. I feel good about this day. I have to go to hospital at 11 for noon surgery so I am pumped. I cannot believe it made it through the clear liquid day without a hitch. only heard my stomach growl once the whole day. I took in so many liquids that if my olf veins are popped up I will be ultra surprised. Good luck to all my fellow March 7th sleevers. We are on our way to a new life. YEE HAA!!! -

Get some gas-x strips. That will take care of the gas issue. I am being sleeved this morning and I have a box I am taking with me. -

Well, tomorrow is my big day. The cold is subsiding and I am working hard to make it go away before morning. Not an easy task, believe me. I am going to give myself one more Neti Pot treatment and go back to bed. Today is clear liquid day so it is tough enough to do that and get this dang cold out of my system, but I am determined. Nothingis going to get in my way. Anyway. Hope all the 6th sleevers are having a great surgery and I will see you all on the flip side. :-) -

Does anybody have a sure fire way to knock out a cold in three days? I am so upset, Saturday my throat was scratchy, Sunday coughing and sore throat, today worse. I am so worried because my sleeve is this THURSDAY!!! I am sucking down chicken broth, sucking on sugarfree Hall's and staying as warm as I can here at work. I will listen to any suggestions. I don't want my surgery pushed back because of this. Thanks for any and all suggestions. -

Good luck to everyone that is being sleeved this week (inlcuding me..yay). I have been reading a lot here about going to Mexico and I applaud you for taking that step. I am fortunate that my insurance covered me for this. In regard to all the classes required, I have to say that I am glad I had to go through all that. It gave me a chance to make darn sure this was the avenue I wanted to go with my weight loss. It a tool people. We still have to do the work. Just want everyone to realize that. Also, the classes taught me how to deal with my emotions, how to handle changes is attitudes towards me when I lose this weight and how to live a full and healthy life post-op. This was my choice as it was yours and we should stand proud on that decision. One thing I learned through this whole journey from being obese to the decision to get healthy....I will NEVER treat people the way I have been treated all these years. We are all treated so differently when we have this weight problem, but no one seems to be empathetic to us as individuals. Ain't gonna happen with me. I will love the new me and I want to help others, not degrade them. I love you all and hope everyone has a wonderful experience. AND, don't forget, if you ware even thinking about the possibility of doing a half marathon or 5k after your surgery, consider joining our private facebook page. We will be encouraging each other, talking about training tactics, and working toward a dream of running in the Disney Princess Half Marathon next year. Hey, I am 61 and if I can dream, so can you, right? Just let me know, then like me on facebook (Kriss Melby Johnson) and I will add you to our page. Come on, it will be fun.
