for those wanting to keep their hair after surgery
jobyro replied to princesstia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can you tell us about some of the products you use? -
That's great!! I'm 8 weeks and haven't lost 32 pounds yet. Please try not to compare, I know it's hard. I started at 205 the day of surgery and I'm ok with losing slow.

jobyro replied to Linkin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My BMI was 36 and I was self pay in MI for $11,200 with a skilled surgeon. Also down have to go through the long process of insurance approvals so could schedule surgery quickly. -
I want to know honest calorie intake
jobyro replied to lwilliams65's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 7 weeks out today and today was the first day I went over 800 calories. I had a lunch meeting out so ate more calories than I usually do for lunch. I typically fall between 700-750 calories and between 60-70 grams of protein. I can see how I could eat more if I grazed throughout the day but I try not to do that. I also had two mini chocolate eggs leftover from Easter. Oops!! -
It's so hard not to compare ourselves to others, but this is our own individual journey. I'm 7 weeks out today and down 26 pounds. The day of surgery I was 205. I tell myself this is way more than I could have lost on my own. It will come off, just keep following the plan!!

I was sleeved 2/21 and my nutritionist says between 600-800 calories now and of course focusing on protein and fluids.
-
I'm in the soft food stages and it seems so many of my allowed foods that have decent amounts of protein are cheeses. Light string cheese, low fat cottage cheese, light baby bell cheese, thinly sliced cheese with deli turkey, etc. I love cheese so it's fine but am I eating too much of it? I'm going to the bathroom regularly and don't feel bad when I eat it.

I'm just over two weeks out too. I think I'm going to be a slow loser and sometimes that fear creeps in my mind too. Hang in there. Our bodies are going through so much. Are you drinking enough fluids?

When can we stop being fearful of leaks?
jobyro replied to lwilliams65's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor said my chance for a leak goes down significantly even after 1 week. -
Please help me! I'm 9 days post op and since about two days after surgery I've had this problem. I wash my hair then blow dry it. My roots are immediately greasy and dirty feeling and looking. It's gross. The only thing that is saving me is putting a bit of baby powder on them. Is this due to the drastic calorie change, high protein, what?! Has this happened to anyone else? Any ideas on how to get it to stop? I emailed my nutritionist and she has never heard of it.

Oh thanks. The ricotta bake sounds great. I start purées on Thursday and will be making this.
-
I just posted this myself and then did a search. Mine is bad immediately after I blow dry it. Greasy and dirty roots. Baby powder has been helping me a bit. Is it due to low calories or high protein or something??

So sorry to read this. You've been through so much. Lets hope you'll feel better than ever soon. Keep us posted. -
Thanks everyone. I start the puréed stage in a week and am also a visual person. I'll try a few blended things but am thinking ill be eating a lot of eggs, cottage cheese, yogurt, refried beans and mashed cauliflower.

FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved
jobyro replied to DivaNurse's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Glad to hear so many of you are doing great. I'm on the countdown, scheduled for 2/21. Getting nervous, excited, scared, and kinda have this disbelief feeling that I'm really doing this. -
Pre op anxiety over complications
jobyro replied to Sgknoche's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
We're similar! I have a 2.5 and a 6 year old too. I have a BMI of about 36 and am scheduled for 2/21. I worry too, but honestly know I'd worry with any type of surgery. I remind myself that the majority of people don't have many problems. I also look forward to being healthier and happier. Message me if you want to stay in touch! Good luck!! -
Add me too please. This is my first time posting here, surgery set for 2/21!!
