PA here. Having surgery with Dr Harrison in Lehigh Valley mid July.

Looking for a buddy with a July date too!
Roserie replied to MaddieJ's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 5'7 and 293 and having surgery July 19th. -
I went and had spicy chinese the other night, though we really only eat it once every few months I wanted to have it one last time in-case I can't eat it in the distant future. I've read a lot of people have a hard time with both chinese food and spicy foods (I will be so sad if I can no longer stomach spicy foods) post-op that I wanted to enjoy it while I could. I plan to have fast food one last time, one last meal where I have a beer/appetizer/entree/dessert/coffee with my fiance at Longhorn Steakhouse and I'll probably have some m&m's and a pepsi before I start my pre-op diet at the beginning of July.

Mine will be Wednesday but was told they would fix it during surgery if I had one.

They usually submit to insurance once you complete the program. For example, I had to do a 3mth program through Lehigh Valley weight Management. My last appointment with them was May 22nd. I went up against the review board May 30th. They approved me and then submitted to insurance and I was approved through insurance about a week ago. I met with my surgeon on May 30th and they scheduled my endoscopy for June 19th and my surgery for July 15th. This was the first available surgery appointment my dr had. Edit to add that the Lehigh Valley Weight Management center has a review board that meets at the end of each month, could be different approval process for different dr's.

OB wants me to eat 2200 calories a day?!?!
Roserie replied to CCCross's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
You only need an extra 300 calories in your first trimester, 350 in your second and 500 in your last to maintain your weight. Though the dr may be concerned about making sure the baby is getting enough nutrients to be healthy. I would discuss it with a NUT and see what they suggest. The weight usually falls off after the baby is born if you are breast feeding. I lost 30lbs in 2mths breast feeding after I had my son. Congrats! -
Insurance approved, now I just have to have my endoscopy and wait til July 15th for surgery.

Continuing to lose weight while pregnant
Roserie replied to jacquelynn.mclean's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
A lot of OB/GYN's will ask that obese women not gain any weight (and are OK with you losing weight depending on how much you weigh). In your first trimester you only need an extra 300 calories to maintain your weight, 350 calories in your second and around 500 calories in the third. As long as you are eating healthy, taking your vitamins and visiting your dr regularly you should be fine (even if you are losing weight) I'm sure if your dr has any concerns throughout your pregnancy they will let you know. I wouldn't actively be trying to lose weight while pregnant but if you do due to morning sickness there isn't a whole lot you can do about that yanno. -
6 weeks post-op and possibly pregnant...eek!

Just work closely with a NUT and you should do just fine. Plus, you'll easily lose it with breast feeding once the baby is born. -

If the baby is really that unwanted is adoption or, dare I say, abortion even an option for you? I know I could never do either myself but some people are for both of those options. If you do decide to keep it I wish you all the best. Your family will work it out and even though it is scary now, that little one will bring you a lot of joy. Good luck with whatever you decide. I've read a lot of stories about ladies who had perfectly healthy pregnancies this soon after surgery so as long as you work with your OB/GYN and your NUT to make sure you are getting enough nutrients you should e fine. -
VSG to increase fertility?
Roserie replied to GBFree82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon asks that you wait at least a year before even considering trying. The weight management center tells you to to wait 2yrs until you have been maintaining your weight for a bit. The biggest reason people do the surgery is to lose the weight and keep it off and if you get pregnant too soon not only do you run the risk of not losing, but also regaining everything you may have lost. They also worry about the baby not getting enough nutrients if you get pregnant too soon. I am personally wanting 1-2 more babies but I am waiting until 1yr out to start trying. It took me 5yrs to conceive my son (whom I was told I would never be able to have) and I was told by my new OB/GYN that my weight could be a huge factor in my ability to get pregnant. Focus on you first and then getting pregnant second. You have to be healthy for that future baby yanno. I knew if I didn't do the surgery and tried to have more I'd wind up 400lbs and unable to run around and play with my kids. -
Shakes are part of both my pre-op diet and a few weeks of my post op. You may talk with your dr and ask if you can skip them and what the alternative would be.

Min is on the 19th and my surgery is the 15th of July. My surgeon requires them to be no more than 30 days apart.

Seriously, you can't fix stupid
Roserie replied to NtvTxn's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I will say that my surgeon states at his seminar that you can eat/drink whatever you want but that you need to learn to have it in moderation. That you have to figure it into you calories for the day and not have it in addition to everything else. So if you want that soda every now and again or that piece of cake you can have it but you make sure it fits into your daily allowance of calories. Not saying that I will but different doctors say different things. -
I was told it was fine if we wanted it. I only drink 2 cups of coffee a day as it is.

I am in the same boat as you as far as having a SO that can't take off of work. My surgery falls on a Monday and I'll be out of the hospital the next day. He will only be able to take 1 day off (and that's pushing it). My son weighs about 30lbs and only crawls. My surgeon told me not to lift him at all for the first week, 2 if at all possible. I'd say reschedule yours if you can. I still haven't really figured out what I'm going to to with getting my son into his crib for his morning nap (my SO does work only about 2min away from home so I may have to see if he can drive home to put him in and take him out). I didn't listen hen I had gallbladder surgery (and after my c-section) about not lifting the little one and wound up really hurting my recovery so do what you can to listen to the lifting restrictions.

I'll test -
I have an 11mth old (he will be 13mths when I have surgery) and my surgeon said no lifting for the first two weeks.

Anyone in Eastern PA want to buy my unopened Unjury?
Roserie posted a topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I ordered some single packs and a large tub of the chocolate and wound up not liking it at all. I have the following 2 Strawberry 2 Chicken 1 Vanilla 1 Chocolate Splendor 1 Unflavored 1 Tub Classic Chocolate The packets run $1.99 and the tub is $22.95. I would ask $37 for them and it will save you about $7 in shipping but you'd have to pick them up from my home near Doylestown. If anyone is interested LMK otherwise I'm just going to send them back. -

Pain on right side under rib?
Roserie replied to binkymarie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started having pain in that area and in my right side a little while after gallbladder surgery. I was told it could be because they cut through a bunch of nerves and muscle to do the surgery that you may have pain there for awhile. I've talekd to friends that have also had gallbladder surgery and they have the same pain. Though you should still get checked out by your dr.
