Just wanted to quickly note that I draw blood at work and if I don't get it on the first try, I restick with a new needle - we never stick with the same needle twice. I don't know what they do in other places, though..... Lisa

If you have the AP lapband please respond

I have the AP Small band and I have 4.5cc in it after two fills. I think I actually might be a little too tight. My first fill was 3cc and I had almost no restriction with that. -
What is your current fill in your 10cc Small AP Band?

I have 4.5cc in my band and I have very good restriction. MY first fill was 3cc and I felt nothing. What a big difference a little bit can make. -
Well, it's looking like the 3 mL's didn't do too much (I work in a hospital too and it took me awhile to get used to saying "cc's" again! LOL!). I'm going to go in again next Thursday and get a little bit more put in. I'm not looking for major restriction, but a little bit would be nice. I want to lose 40 more pounds and I will be happy. Not just happy, thrilled!!!:whoo: It's nice to hear that other patients like the group of doctors from MOSS. I went through BeLiteWeight.com and Dr. Gazayerli was assigned to me for my surgery. I read all of the their credentials and would have been happy with any of them. BUT...I am thrilled that I had Dr. Gazayerli perform my surgery. He is really a kind man. The OR staff had nice things to say about him as well. I am curious to hear how AP band fills are working out for others. -Lisa

I'm not sure if I have much restriction yet because I haven't really eaten much. I'll find out in a few days because we go on vacation.LOL. I lost 10 pounds right after getting the band and have "stalled" out now so that's why I went for the fill. My doc charges $300 (way too much I know) each fill, but adjustments during the 1 month period after each fill are free if needed. I will definatley take advantage of that. If worse comes to worse there is fill center in Jersey I can go to but it's 90 miles away. Congrats with your weight loss! That is great for having no fill! :whoo: Do you know how much Dr. Gazayerli is going to put in your band? Does he do the fills himself or is one of his associates going to do it? The only one I met was Dr. Weiner and he was very nice. I REALLY wish I lived closer so I could go back to Dr. Gazayerli- he is such a nice man and I felt really comfortable around him. (not that I don't like my fill doctor now, but he is no Dr. G!)

Hi Elizabeth. I got the AP Small band. I just had my first fill today. I didn't go back to Detroit for my fills (I'm from PA). I'm going to get them locally. My doctor put 3 cc in the band to start. I'm a self-pay so hopefully I won't need too mant adjustments. -Lisa

I was banded by Dr. Gazayerli just this past June. I was very pleased with him. My BMI was 31 when he banded me and he had no problem with that. -Lisa

Hello Everyone- I'm very new to this - right now I am very seriously considering lap band surgery. My insurance doesn't cover it so I will be paying out of pocket. My question is about my bmi - it is 31. Is it hard to find a doctor that will perform the surgery with that number? I keep reading in different places that your bmi should be at least 35. I'm so glad I found this site, there is so much information! :-)

I have contacted the folks at beliteweight.com (Detroit) to see if they would do it. The price seems very reasonable. I did a search on the boards, but I could not find much info on them. They haven't returned my emails yet, either. I was hoping to find somewhere affordable closer to home (PA). I know- I don't want much, do I?

Thank you for your reply. I would prefer to stay in the US if at all possible. Are the US doctors more stringent with the BMI requirements?
