  1. It is what you make it. If you want it to be fun, don't fret over everything. Follow your plan and live. You'll have lots of time to try new things (or old things!) now that your then and focus isn't always on food.

    Fage

Mixed with tuna instead of mayo, shred or dice a little apple and celery with it and a little lemon pepper. They served samples at support group one night night and NOT being a Greek yogurt (or any yogurt!) fan, it was still really good. (They used some honking big radish of some sort and cut it super thin like chips to dip in to it. Yum!)

    My NUT said...

I was told it's not unusual to lose 1-2 pounds per week. That's about 8 pounds a month. Maybe 10 if you stretch it. That's healthy. And realistic. Some lose more. Some lose less. It's how you use your tool. I'm doing about 2 pounds/week now at 6 months and I'm ok with that. I'm also living and enjoying life. I have just 20 pounds or so to lose. I should be there in January!
  4. This is what prompted my change. I had it under my arms and boobs. I knew it wasn't good, and I decided a year ago I needed to fix me. I'm still working on the fix - that's a lifelong thing - but I'm happy to say I've dropped 100 pounds over the last 11 months and my skin is all one color!

    Thanksgiving Challenge

I'll play! HW 304 CW 204 Thanksgiving goal 195 (I'm hosting too, but it's all good. I can better control what will be served. And I eat what I eat and don't care what others do.) **I've got to get back at the exercise. No more excuses!**

    Best and worst "compliments"

I had a coworker i really don't care for say congratulations the other day. I stopped and said "excuse me?" Kind not not really hearing him at first. Then he kept on his theme "congratulations. You...uuhhhh...". I made him squirm for a minute then just thanked him and moved on. And if the daycare lady hollers out at me one more time, "the incredible shrinking woman!", I might just pop her one.
  7. I've lost my 4 year old and almost two of my 2-year old!

    Happy Birthday to me!

Happy birthday! Yesterday was my 39th birthday and I stepped on to the scale at 204.5. That's 100 pounds down from when I decided last November that I needed help. Now on to my next goal - to lose 4.6 pounds (be less than 200!) by my kids' bdays in 2 weeks. We're flying to seem husband's family after Christmas and I'm looking forward to being sooo close to my goal weight!

    Sick of protein shakes

I'm almost 6 months out and still drink at least one premier protein shake a day. It's usually my breakfast in the car. It's easy and tastes good, and is 39 grams of protein. I don't need to drink them anymore. It's just for convenience mostly.
  10. I'd do it again in a heartbeat also. I've had no serious issues. If I hurt or feel bad after eating its because I've eaten too much or too fast. Mostly I don't want to eat - nothing ever sounds good. That's the worst part I suppose. The only hesitation I had was when the mask was going over my nose in the OR. I briefly had a wtf moment, but I woke up "a few minutes" later feeling great. I decided a year ago I needed to do something as I was headed down a bad, bad road. I went to a WLS seminar on 11/7, had my first NUT appt November 27th, lost 35 pounds before my surgery in May and have lost another 65 since. Today is my birthday and I hit my goal, when I stepped on the scale today I was 100 pounds down from my HW. I have 24 pounds left to my surgeons goal, 34 for my goal. And just 2 pounds from being "just" overweight! And now I'm silently influencing my office to get healthier. My boss is back on her diet kick, and another coworker is going in for her band to sleeve revision. I can't say enough good things about the choice I have made.
  11. Yellow cheese. I can only do white now. Other than that, the only thing would be generally nothing sounds good.

    Post-Op Driving

I came home Thursday morning and was out driving and shopping in my own on Friday. I didn't use pain meds except at bedtime the first couple of nights.

    Sick day

Do you have any of your nausea med left? Can you call your doctor and get some?
  14. I agree with everyone else here. No way would I change my plumbing. The sleeve itself was scary enough. But in 5 months I'm down 60 pounds (plus 40 pre-op), with a little more than 30 to go. You can lose as much as you want with whichever you choose, but you have to make it work.
  15. Maybe to the deli to get some meat and cheese? Or to a local restaurant to get something? Or home. Even Starbucks would work and have a small steamed milk and/or a veggie snack or protein box. I don't let myself have liquid calories, except for milk on rare occasion. To me that's a slippery slope. I've learned to have a little snack with me.

    Down 105.4!

    Great job! You look awesome!
  17. Maybe it's time to shop a new store? Maybe you don't need to go to Catherine's anymore. Last week I found good clothes that fit at Ross and Macy's. Someone else suggested I try Kohls. Look at new styles - ones you wouldn't consider before. You'll be surprised what looks good on you now
  18. I had no lifting restrictions. I had a 2 & 4 year old and had no trouble getting the 2 year old in the car. I did convert the crib so I didn't have to lift her in and out, but no other issues. Ask your doctor what he recommends. Just like diet post op, every doctor has their own recommendations.
  19. I also would encourage it. I think if I had done it at 31 instead of 38 I would have had 7 happier, healthier years. I was 304 pounds at my heaviest. Lost ~ 40 pounds pre-op and 55 now post op (I was 209 this morning!!). sleeved 5/1/13.
  20. Bariatric Surgery doesn't change brains. We (should) all know that. I hope you are respectful and kind to your BIL. He's obviously struggling. Just keep modeling good choices and don't be judgmental. I have a coworker with a band and her "work arounds" with her band was what influenced me to go the sleeve route. She's gained weight, I've lost 95 pounds since starting this whole adventure last November. She sees my success and is talking about a band to sleeve revision. I dread her struggle she'll have if she does this since she's a full fledged food addict. But I concentrate on me. That's all I have time and energy to do right now, but whatever choices she makes I'll still support her.

    Antibiotics

Maybe you could back off the antibiotics? Could be viral and then the antibiotics aren't effective and make you miserable.
  22. I went shopping and bought size 14 pants (down from a tight 22), XL shirts (down from 2x), and today I took my ring in to be sized before they fall off and get lost. I'll be wearing a 6 1/2 next week when I pick them up! And I still hate shopping, but it was nice to not have to go to the women's section to find clothes that fit.
  23. I had those for the first two weeks or so, they got better as I healed. Just make sure to do small sips. It still happens if I take take big of a gulp.

    Big bones...

My bony shoulders kind of gross me out. And my long, skinny giraffe neck :/ HW 304 SW 265 CW 210

    Non-scale victory!

I need to go shopping this weekend for something to wear to a conference next week. I have nothing that fits and I don't think I can get away with wearing my baggy scrubs there. I'm dreading it but curious to see what size I am now.
