Anything. Except bread, pasta, rice, and of course cakes, cookies, pies, candies. At 4 weeks I was told to resume a normal diet, just portion controlled, and to introduce foods one at a time in case of intolerances.

Do not drink 30 minutes before or 30 minutes after meals

I can drink right up to the point the food hits my lips. But then have to wait an hour after before any more liquids. -
Surgery may 16th....begining 303lbs
Itsme! replied to amy613's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I supposedly lost 25 pounds in May (sleeved May 1) and my doctor said that was great. I was bummed that it wasnt more, but so far i am down 65 total since starting the whole insurance shuffle (11/28/12) so really I can't complain. They expect 1-2 pounds/week. There are just some lucky folks out there that lose more, more quickly. -
I had no lifting restrictions and was fine caring for my 2 & 4 year olds. Maybe your mom can come help and you two can work together.

I've lost 64 pounds since I started my supervised diet the end of November. I finally just bought new scrubs for work. My others were just looking like clown pants. I haven't bought any new real clothes yet. I just hate shopping.

discouraged and depressed

Just keep doing what you're doing and it'll work. Some people lose 50 pounds their first month. Some of us lose "only" 20. Many people stall around week 3. I did for about 10 days and just lost 4 pounds finally again this week (I'm 4 weeks out). Be patient and keep doing what you're doing. It took years to get where we are today. It'll take several months or maybe a couple of years to get where we want to be. -
Anyone feel amazing post op?
Itsme! replied to JessicaAnn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did fine. Walked around the surgery center h til the staff told me to stop and go back to bed. Went to the OR around 2pm on Wednesday, discharged 7:30am Thursday and was gardening and shopping on Friday. No real pain. Little nausea but nothing that an occasional zofran didn't fix. -
I had surgery May 1, was out shopping and gardening in May 3. I didn't go back to work until the 13th though easily I could have gone back a week sooner.

Week 3 Post Op and not losing?
Itsme! replied to Kohe's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
http://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss-stall-or-plateau.html Someone posted this on the post vsg page and it helps explain why we don't always lose. Bottom line you're not eating enough to maintain your weight - or gain. The weight will come off if you follow the plan. I was sleeved 5/1. I'm an everyday weigher, but more for curiosity sake. I don't let the scale frustrate me. Just yesterday I finally broke my 10+ day stall. Hang in there. -
Somewhat concerned/frustrated

I've been told not to eat to full, only to satisfied. Full hurts. -
Ugh! Weight gain!
Itsme! replied to kmschneiderpac's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm one month tomorrow. About 10 days ago I stepped in the scale and had gained 2 pounds. A couple days later I was up another. Then for a week + was up and down a half. Finally today I'm back down those three. Just be patient and follow your plan and it will work. Now to lose 6 pounds to reach my target of 235 by my niece's graduation next Friday ???? -
Challenge: 1st Day of Summer Weigh-In
Itsme! replied to Ima Loser's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't get discouraged. We are not eating enough to sustain our current weight. Keep at it and once your body comes out of shock the scale will move. I'll be 4 weeks tomorrow and the scale finally dropped half a pound this morning after no change for a week (+?). -
I have a size 12 dress in my closet I would love to get back in to.

Yes it's normal but took a good week to week and a half to totally stop in general but I can still get that pain if I drink too much at once.

Challenge: 1st Day of Summer Weigh-In
Itsme! replied to Ima Loser's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first day of summer isn't until June 21st. You can totally do it! -
I too am about 14 pounds down, sleeved 5/1 so not quite a month. I've been stalled for the last week - actually gaining 2 pounds :/ I'm not getting (too) discouraged. I lost almost 50 pre surgery so really I'm almost half way to goal! I know for sure i don't eat enough to maintain or gain, so I just need my body to catch up and the scale to start moving again and I will be a happier camper.

Anyone return to liquid?
Itsme! replied to Kapoorvilla's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Long term liquid diet is probably not the best idea. I think it's fine to resort back to it for a few days or a week to jump start things, but slowly reintroduce solids and just keep going. 56 pounds in 5 months is not bad at all! -
Talk with your surgeon, psych or nutritionist. I was told any stall lasting 2 weeks I need to see one of them.

After having the same battle the last few days have been better since I've started doing two fiber gummies and a colace (or 2) each night.

Go with them for walks to help boost your strength and stamina. I have to push myself like that otherwise I'd be a couch potato.

I'm in the same boat. I'm 3 1/2 weeks out (and an everyday weigher tsk tsk) and have gained two pounds this past week. This morning when I stepped on the scale and it still didn't move down i decided its time to mix it up and got back on the elliptical machine. I'm just going to focus on what I'm doing and I'm sure it'll start moving soon. It can't not if you're following the plan. Weightloss is calories in vs calories out, and we're not (or shouldn't be!) eating near enough calories to cause weight gain. Just stay strong!

Finishing thought: Except the time I tried something I shouldn't have. Shame on me, learned my lesson.
