I don't have a carb limit either. I just don't typically eat any unless in the form of fruits. Pasta, rice and bread are no longer part of my diet since November of last year when i started my insurance-required pre-sleeve diet. When I think I can eat a little and have tried (even pre-sleeve) its made me very nauseated. I just don't go there anymore.

Also have set times to eat. That way you don't allow yourself to graze throughout the day.

Steak stays in your stomach for days? Nothing stays in your stomach for days. I started eating anything and everything at 4 weeks, after clearance from my doctor. I've no issues with anything. Just take small bites and chew well.

pooping.... or lack there of...
Itsme! replied to ShrinkyDinkMe22's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Fiber will help, and its a lot better for you than laxatives. Try a couple of fiber chews a day or every few days maybe. just beware atopping them abruptly can cause rebound constipation. -
I had no lifting restrictions. I have a 2 and 4 year old and was fine with them. I didn't do a lot of lifting because i was cautious, but from time to time I did and have had no problems.

I had my 2 month post op appt yesterday, down 33(?) pounds according to them. My story though, I'm down 74 pounds since I started this path 7 months ago. : HW 304 SW 266 CW 230! Down to size 16 pants and XL shirts

I have my old swimsuit away to goodwill yesterday. I tried wearing it a couple of weeks ago and decided I was done with it. Yay!

They have me straws after surgery and I've been using them ever since without any problem. I confirmed at my 1 month appt and they said it was fine.

I think it depends on your internal drive and how you tolerate things. As an ER nurse, I was ready to go back to work in 5 days. Some people don't recover as quickly. It's a very individualized thing.

I'm about the same. It is depressing, but then again it averages 3-4 pounds a week so that's not too shabby. Just keep it up and you'll get there. Don't jump to the bypass right away. There's no guarantee that you'd lose more or faster with it.

Cherries worked like a charm the other day. Best relief I've had yet! MoM works a little but can't stand the taste. Stool softener are meh. Gummy Fiber chews help but can cause rebound constipation when you stop them. That's no fun either.

21 days out incision issue - Advice needed!
Itsme! replied to devichan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't put any goop on your incision. Gauze is fine, but don't keep it moist. -
I was sleeved May 1 and have been eating a totally normal diet since 28 days after that. I haven't had any issues with anything I've tried. I do stick to mainly protein, but love fresh fruit. I did salad last week for the first time and it was good. And Thai food last night. 1 chicken satay and a spoonful of cashew chicken and I was (over!) done.

I get fruits and veggies, some different meats (pork, chicken, ribs, burger, steak), lunch meat and cheese. I'll buy bread and pasta for the rest of the family. We get milk and eggs delivered. If my husband wants anything else he needs to get it himself.
-
I'm the opposite. I could drink chocolate premier protein shakes for each meal. With some sort of chewy snack in between. Food in general just doesn't sound good and the premier shakes are already done and ready and thoughtless. Of course I make myself eat real food, but its just not the same as it used to be.

Does surgery = Money savings?
Itsme! replied to megancd's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My lunch tab at work has gone from $7-8 dollars a day to $1-2/ day. So yes, for me it's saving money. I hate shopping and don't anticipate that changing so I'm not worried about spending money. -
In my 5th week, on solids, but still having loose BM!
Itsme! replied to mistysj's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'd trade you your bowel problems for mine. For a day. I'd be far happier with loose stool than constipation. -
Lifting restrictions
Itsme! replied to SkinnyScrapper's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had no lifting restrictions. -
You have to live a little. A little pizza from time to time isn't going to cause problems. Just don't have it everyday. And two months out - I wouldn't worry about it.

I'm wishing I did the gastric bypass
Itsme! replied to Lina12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I work with three bypass people, two which have regained. Bands fail right and left at my work (for various reasons). I the only sleeve I know of and while I'm not going in to the 130s, I will lose all my excess weight. As water shifts we'll see gain here and there, but if you're limiting your calories and getting some activity then there's no way you can't lose. -

An average, healthy weightloss is 1-2 pounds per week. Some go higher. Some don't make that.
-
Haha, I finally went out last weekend and got new scrubs for the same reason. I've lost now 65 pounds total (25 ish since surgery) and I was way past due.

Should I change what I'm doing? Maybe I need to relax.
Itsme! replied to christieouchley's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
1-2 pounds a week is the norm. There's just some lucky folks out there that lose more and make it look so simple. -
Go outside and get some sun. It's absorbed a lot theough your scalp so don't wear a hat for 30 minutes or so!
