Any April sleevers out there?
nurselis replied to curvyweezie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I got the call from my surgeon's nurse today.. Asked if there was a date that worked for me or if I wanted first available. I said first available! So April 1 it is! Have my pre-op class on the 25! -
April 1. I can't believe it. April 1.

I have been thinking, researching, contemplating, debating, and every other "ing" word possible the sleeve. And today I finally had a consultation with my surgeon and Im beginning the pre-op process. Little about me: Im a 27 year old ER nurse who weighs 336lbs. I've tried for years to lose weight... Diet, exercise, nutritionists, etc. Im a nurse, I know what I need to do and the right way to do it. And yet... Nothing. Very little improvement. Im blessed to have a boyfriend who loves me the way I am and is doing his best to be supportive of me. He just wants the best for me. My family is supportive, but doesn't think Im *that* overweight. My BMI says otherwise. Im blessed to not have any major medical issues... And I want to keep it that way. That is my main purpose for the surgery - stay healthy.

Im from SE Michigan and my surgery date is 4-1-13! -
I can't believe it... I just got promoted at work (Im a nurse) to a position where I need dress clothes. Well, I have a bunch of cute sets of scrubs, but not a lot of dress clothes. I was kinda waiting on buying more clothes in hopes of surgery but as the days went on (I know... It was only a week) I started doubting I would get approved because I have no co-morbidities. Today, I gave in and found a bunch of outfits I was about to order when the phone rang... I GOT APPROVED! I deleted my shopping cart. And now I just need the scheduler to set up my surgery date!!!!!

Who else is waiting on approval?
nurselis replied to jamari's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My insurance coordinator called and confirmed she sent everything in today.. So now the waiting begins! -
I'll be going to WDW about 3 months post-op so I have done a lot of research... You CAN order off the children's menu except if you go to any character or "all you can eat" places... Something to inquire about if you do plan a character Breakfast is not eating and paying a "entertainment only fee" ... You can always bring in a Protein shake or bar. Plan to drink quality Water or gatorade to replace electrolytes as well.

psych evaluation
nurselis replied to mrs red koolaide08's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Me too! Well, as much as you can "pass"... I was recommended Congrats to you. -
Woo Hoo! I am another step closer towards surgery. As of today, I am completely done with insurance requirements and I am just waiting to hear from my insurance coordinator regarding approval/denial. Every step of the way I have been told I am a great candidate (young, relatively healthy, motivated, etc etc) so hopefully my insurance company will feel the same way! I truly look at this as a preventative step (obviously, with a huge portion of it being up to me to actually let WLS work for me). Fingers crossed I'll know relatively soon... the unknown while waiting will be the hardest part.

Well.. I'll call it a half step closer, lol. My insurance requires a two part psych assessment (which I didn't know till I did part one today). Part 1 is done, I have a take home psychological assessment (MMPI-2), and then Monday is my part 2 of the psych assessment. It's my last step before Im completely submitted to my insurance!

Anyone out there an RN?
nurselis replied to conshy416's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, After posting I realized how silly the post was! Already talked to my manager today about a LOA/FMLA and gave her a heads up on restrictions. I am still working on my preop stuff (psych assessment in a week and a half) but I wanna be ready to go! -

Curious of how you all set up time off... Did you do a full LOA/FMLA or did you just schedule a vacation? I was thinking of scheduling a vacation and letting my manager know of lifting restrictions. Im an ER nurse doing three 12s so I don't want to over due it.
