Moderators, I love you!! Thank you so much!!

I have the same question as Samy Love. Why do so many people go to Mexico for this procedure? Just curious...
-
Scrambled eggs are a no-no for me and also rice. But broiled salmon is the worst!!! It gives me that awful golf-ball effect with pain. In the past I ate a lot of fresh salmon, broiled , as it was my favorite dish (bomber). But, it's ok. I am still very happy to have my band!

Taking A Poll, How Much Was Your 1st Fill?
SHAZ replied to FutureSlimMe's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Does anyone know how the port is attached? I mean, what is it stitched to. It gives a pulling sensation. What I thought was the "band"area turned out to be the "port" area. I guess I really CAN'T feel the band except when my food is going through it. -
Love it, Kelly!!!!!!!!! (LOL)

Good luck on your procedure. It'll be a snap. By the way, I live in the "windy city" . ( sheecann@sbcglobal.net) I am almost six weeks post-op and will get my first fill this coming Tuesday (Feb. 15). Congrats!!!! -
Penni, you're so much fun (LOL)!!!!

WHEW!!!! I'm lost...

Right On Darcy!!!! Thanks for reminding me of the not-so-small results of loosing weight. I'm seeing some of them already. And thanks for reminding me to remember my joy. It is always there - I just have to REMEMBER it!!

Hello Rachel Congrats on your surgery date. Trust me, after the procedure you wil feel so good about yourself and so relieved that it is finally done. I wish you the best!!!!

Well said, everyone!!!!! These posts alone have elevated me to another level. Thank you all so much!!!

Jamie, I was told that the reason I needed it was because I had a history of acid reflux. Other than those circumstances my doctor only does them on by-pass or stomach staple candidates. But, they like checking to make sure there is no damage to the esophegas due to acid. If there is, then the lap band cannot be done at that time.

Hello Daisey I too was nervous about the procedure. Thought I was going to feel something. I woke up wandering if anything had been done. I felt nothing and remembered nothing (smile). Don't worry!!!

Budha, that's a scary story!! I'm glad you changed doctors and are now on the right track. So, what, will they go in and remove the band or install it properly. What? I feel really bad for you and I wish you the best with whatever you are having done to correct this.

Seppi, I had the same thing happen to me. I was supposed to get banded in Oct of 04. Everything had been completed when I got a call and was told that a problem was found. This had to be cleared up before I could have the procedure done. I was extremely depressed. I thought " Why me?". However, when you really look at it, it's good to have found out about it as it could have caused more serious problems after being banded (mine was kidneys). Everything cleared up and I was actually banded in Jan of 05. Hang in there - the main thing is that you are only one step away now. ( I didn't have to have all of my tests done over again. Just a couple of them). Everything will be fine!!!

These posts are so funny (LOL)!! I guess that's partially because I haven't had a fill yet. My first one is scheduled for 2-15 then I will be able to relate. However, this girl is not looking forward to pb-ing.

Newbie here with lots of questions
SHAZ replied to Chicagoboy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello Jim and Chena I live in the Chicago area and was banded on Jan 3 of 2005. I had my procedure done at Swedish Covenant Hospital by Dr. Raspante. The hospital has an entire staff just for weight loss surgery including the doctors, nursing staff, dietician and psychologists. The director of the program, Ada Gurerra, is also banded and has been very successful in taking the excess weight off. The entire staff is very warm, caring and understanding. As far as insurance goes, I'm not sure what steps need to be taken in order to use BCBS as I have United Health Care. After having my evaluation, my doctor submitted the letter to my insurance co., and I was soon accepted. There is a lot on info on this site. Just do some browsing. GOOD LUCK to you and WELCOME!! -
I can feel my port. Mine is at waist level and very easy to feel.

CONGRATS, Angela!!! -
I am probably the only one, but I have a sensitive sensation around the band area(front left belly). But then, I did have some strange burning pain earlier on in that area. It's all better, only the sensation remains. I expect it to go away as well, since it's getting better each day. Guess that's just the way my body responded to the band. My doctor nor anyone else seems to have ever heard of this. WIERD!

I haven't had a fill yet (four weeks post-op), but I was feeling resistance until the start of the fourth week. Now, I think I am really ready for a fill as I am eating more than I should need to in order to feel satisfied or full.

Congrats, Petunia After two or three days you'll feel MUCH better. Walking also helped me a lot. Naturally, the first two days your're feeling your worst. But it gets better fast.
