feb 2013 sleevers weigh in
Debi Lee replied to kathyhalls's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My hubby bought me a recumbent bike after my knee surgery since I was so heavy walking would have been tough on it. I did walk after surgery (2/13) but now I've been released to ride my bike, which I absolutely love. I live in Florida so it can get terribly hot to ride, plus there is really no where to ride in my neighborhood. I would encourage anyone that can to get a bike, be it recumbent or other. -

I was sleeved 2/13 I am down 20 pounds from the day of surgery. Been walking for 30 minutes for 2 weeks, but hoping I'll be released to ride my recumbent bike tomorrow. -
I admit I was depressed too, but not because of the food. It was because I was angry with myself for getting in the position that I would need to have surgery because of my selfishness with food. It only lasted about 3 weeks. And thankfully I have a wonderfully supportive husband and friends to get me through it. Those are normal feelings. You've come this far and you won't regret it. Keep your eyes on the bigger picture.

I asked my doc about the recumbent bike after my hubby purchased one for me. I need a knee replacement and figured the bike would be better than walking. She told me for the first 6 weeks walking is better since the exercise works on the entire core. She is afraid by just using the bike I could get a hiatal hernia, but did say if it was all I could do to at least wear a cinch of some kind when riding. There was a cinch around my mid torso when I woke up from surgery, so I could use that. I have been wearing a Spanx type of bodysuit from the time I get up until I go to bed so that would be sufficient too.
