3 weeks out and cant get protein in
AngelaTX replied to Kelsnikol's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you tried the whey Protein shots? You of course can't shoot them but they have 42g of protein in a 3.8oz shot. I have them in the pantry but haven't had to bust one open yet. https://www.google.com/#q=whey+protein+shots&tbm=shop They sell them at Walmart individually..which is where I bought them so I can try them if needed. -
Don't get frustrated..it doesn't last long! I can only give you my view point from being 3 weeks post-op. You have to sip CONSTANTLY that first week....don't let yourself get thirsty even...I used a pill cup to control how much I was sipping...poured myself an ounce at a time. By the end of week 1 and into 2 your sleeve will start to let you take bigger sips and it just seemed to just increase a bit each day after that. Today I can take a decent sized drink..but not a big gulp. If I focus on drinking I can take down a 20 oz bottle in about an hour. You can do it!!

surgery date is monday October 28th
AngelaTX replied to joshmann512382's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats to you both for having your dates! My surgery was Oct 7th...I'm almost 3 weeks out and it's going great! The most comforting thing on the morning of my surgery was when my OR nurse came in to introduce herself, she let me know that she had the same surgery 5 years ago and that it was the best thing she had done to improve her life. -
Help! Vegeterian in full liquid pre op diet... Recipes please :)
AngelaTX replied to erikalexandra19's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I stocked up on soup from my favorite Chinese restaurant. Miso and egg drop would work if you don't want the meat and some will specially make the soup to your specification..I'd you wanted tofu..etc. I also strained the light progresso soups...they tasted pretty good. You can add unflavored Protein powder to any of these to get your Proteins in. -
A few protein reviews
AngelaTX replied to roundisashape's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I'm with Beach Lover...love my Premier Protein Shakes! I also like a Protein Powder called "Pure Protein" powder vanilla cream flavor that I was excited to see at Walmart. It has 25g of protein per scoop. I like to use it when I want a different flavored shake...and it tastes good with Water. I love to add vanilla Greek yogurt and natural applesauce plus some cinnamon....tastes like apple pie! -
How long before you saw your weight loss?

Having trouble with my meds
AngelaTX replied to Hollisterfan27's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I take my chewable multi-vitamin with my Protein shake. Drink 1/2 first....chew up the Vitamin (while holding my breath) and then sip it down with more shake. My NUT advises crushing it and stirring it into a little yogurt.....thinned if your on liquids. Some days the taste isn't bad..other days it's rough. I'm not quite at 3 weeks yet. -
how much chicken can you eat in a sitting at 6 weeks out?
AngelaTX replied to Heather M's topic in Food and Nutrition
I start stage 2 on Oct 30th. I'm ready to CHEW on something besides a Popsicle! My Dietitians meal goals are 1/4 to 1/2 c at each meal/snack. Example 2 oz of lean meat and 1/4 cup mashed sweet potato. Eat Proteins first. 3 meals and 2-3 Snacks at those amounts a day. No drinking 30 minutes BEFORE, DURING or 30 minutes AFTER a solid meal/snack. Snacks can be Protein shakes to help get all of your protein in...then you don't have to have the 30 min wait..yay! We can have two high Fiber crackers with our tuna...she stressed high fiber items when you do have toast/crackers. Hope this helps. -
should I use hibicleanse in shower aftrr surgery
AngelaTX replied to Seela's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Drs directions were to take warm..not HOT showers for the first two weeks. (No soaking baths or hard scrubbing on the incision sights). It was ok to use my normal cleanser. -
I'm three weeks post op and my saving grace while on pre op liquids were the sugar free Popsicles. They reminded me of dessert so any time I started to crave REAL food I'd break one out. Something to actually chew on! I thought my pre op weeks were harder than the first week of post op...and you are almost done...keep it up! You are gonna ROCK this!

Today is the first day where I've been able to comfortably drink 60 oz and get my 60gm of protein in. the pain with getting up and down is starting to lesson finally. Hope everyone is doing well!

I'm getting discharged at noon today. Feeling good. No nausea at all. Loving the sugar free Popsicles!!! I got up to walk every 2.5 hours...it helped the pain go away. Hope you are all doing awesome!

Are you ready? What did you pack?
AngelaTX replied to back2barb78's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think I'm ready! Have to be at the hospital at 5:15 AM. I just finished all the laundry and cleaned the house. Are you packing anything special for the hospital stay? I plan on bringing shoes that I can slip into easily for walking, since they have us up walking every four hours. I'll also bring my I-pad and head phones to watch movies on. I think we have to stay in just the hospital gown until we leave.....or can we wear anything of our own?? -

I'm on day 4 of a low carb/high protein/soft food pre-op. I don't feel hungry and its going well. It consists of protein shake before each "meal", And I'm actually liking my strained "Light" soup..very easy to do. I am going to be totally sick of yogurt by the time this is over though

How is your pre-op diet going?
AngelaTX replied to AngelaTX's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I just ordered the same thing from unjury. I ordered it Sunday so I hope it arrives before Monday. I bought a food thermometer as well. How does your post surgery diet look? Mine is straight liquids for 3 days, then on to Soups until the 21 day mark and then on to softs until the 42nd day. -

AngelaTX replied to AngelaTX's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You can buy unflavored protein powder...which you can add to any clear liquid/drinks. I just bought some online from the "Nectar" brand. I think Unjury also has a chicken flavored protein powder that they would consider clear. -
How is your pre-op diet going?

Good morning everyone!! I noticed last night and this morning that I'm getting cramps in my legs. I walk every day and i drink 80oz+ of Water so i'm guessing my body is missing my bananas. I'm going to start drinking a Powerade zero at night to see if it helps relieve them. Hope your pre-op diets are going great!
