    7 weeks post op

I have been drinking Herbalife "beverage mix." You just add the mix to water, and it has a great flavor, but there are also 15 grams of protein, no sugar, 2 carbs and 75 mg of potassium, no fat and 70 calories per serving, 2 scoops. So, this is perfect for me, because protein and water are the things I have to get in each day. They are a little spendy, but they are worth it to me. There is a wild berry flavor and a peach mango flavor. I like the wild berry best personally.

    Successful Slow Losers Please Respond

It is nice to hear that others are going through the same thing. I have really wondered if this is going to work for me. I keep telling myself that I am going to get rid of my scale, but I keep getting on it every morning out of curiosity anyway. I am only 5 weeks post op, but, I still expected that my extreme measures would bring extreme results! My friend got the gastric bypass and lost 80 lbs in 2 months! I am only about 20 lbs down so far. I know I should be happy with 20, but it fluctuates up and down every morning and It is frustrating. The worst part is when people who know come up and look at me, expecting to be able to see a difference, and they can't. They make comments like, "Aren't you skinny yet?" This drives me crazy! I keep telling everyone that the surgery I got makes you loose much slower, so it will be a while before anyone will notice, but they keep asking. This is why I asked the 4 people I told to not tell anyone else. However, everyone I know, and some people I don't know, already know I had surgery and are asking me about it. It is just crazy. I just wish I could be skinny already so they would all just leave me alone! Sorry for the rant, feeling a little better now.

I would love love love some popcorn...

I am only 5 weeks out, so I wont try it yet, but I am finding that my tastes have changed so much! I wonder if I will even love popcorn anymore! I used to go find a movie to watch just because I craved movie popcorn, then get a huge bag with extra butter and down most of it in one sitting. I am sure that won't be the case, as greasy things make me want to vomit now. I can't even handle mayo or sour cream. This may be because my gall bladder was removed at the same time I had my sleeve. But, I have also always been a heavy coffee drinker, quad shot, 12 oz breve coffee drinker, and now, even weak coffee does not taste good anymore. I have become a tea drinker! And chocolate is ok, but i prefer berries! What is that? I mean, i guess it is a good thing, but I feel like I am having an identity crisis. I guess that goes to show how much I identify myself with food... scary...
  4. I was told to take Prilosec every day for 90 days post op. I am only 3 weeks out, and I can feel it when I forget. So, I have only missed 1 day so far. But I have days where I feel like I am starving all day too. I wondered if the doctor didn't to it right or something, because others have no hunger at all after surgery. Don't know. I am usually starving about every 2-3 hours though. Only takes about 1/4 cup of something to fill me to the brim though... depending on what it is. I have been eating Goldfish crackers a lot, because it is the only thing that seems to settle my nausea. I know they are not exactly "on the menu" of puree or "soft foods," but I just chew them really well. They just really help, one of the only things that don't hurt my stomach.

    Freezing

Yeah, same here. I did a very low calorie diet last year, before being sleeved, and had the same problem. I take hot showers to warm up. Sometimes up to 3 a day. I live in Alaska, and usually I am in flip flops and tee shirts all winter long... I still do that, but I blast my kids out of the car with the heater! Drives them nuts! I'm always turning the heat up in the house too... just have to get used to wearing my thick fluffy robe and slippers. It will be worth it if the weight stays off this time! Put up with it for months on HCG, lost 60 lbs, and gained it all back and then some within 6 months... NOT THIS TIIME!!

    hair loss

I also read that people sometimes get nervous about losing hair, and they brush/ wash hair less often because of it. You can actually help prevent further hair loss by stimulating the scalp often.... This was one of my biggest concerns before surgery.

    hair loss

I was told to take a biotin suppliment, taking "Hair, Skin and Nails" by Schiff. Got it in the natural food section of my local grocery store. Also, protien, at least 80 grams per day. I am only 2 weeks out, so don't really know if it's going to work for me, but I have also read that women use Rogain one the hair loss has started....

Hi all, im new to this...

Wow, awesome response from everyone so quickly. I really appreciate that.... My doctor gave me clear liquids in the hospital, I was only there overnight, then sent me home with instructions to eat " blended" food for the next ten weeks. I did not recieve any instruction about what to blend. But, years of dieting has taught me that junk food is just that, junk. Also, blended does not mean chewed, and I know that. I dont have a NUT, and I have not seen my surgeon, only a nurse for a follow up 4 days post op. She was mostly interested in my incisions, which were covered in hives, apparently I'm allergic to the dissolving stitches... So taking Benadryl for that. I have been given whole pills to take, potassium and prilosec and have tolorated them just fine. Maybe because my surgeon uses a size 48 boogie? I don't know. Also, I feel like the top of the stapled corner of my stomch is rubbing under my ribs, very uncomfortable, anyone else feel this?

Hi all, im new to this...

Still trying to figure out how to do this... Continuing on.... So, before sugery, I removed all the junk from the house, my boys are overweight too, and we were on the path to a lifestyle change. I lost 20 lbs before surgery, and both my boys were looking good. After surgery, they had friends over, the junk crept in slowly with carbs for the friends and then spiraled out of control to corn dogs and pizza rolls again. The worst part was that only 4 days post op I began convincing myself that I could "blend" anything in my mouth, and I have eaten all kinds of things " off menu". I'm starting to scare myself. I don't want to land myself back in the hospital, but at night, I feel like I am starving! And protien shakes are just not cutting it. When I eat cottage cheese, I only get in 3 or 4 baby spoon bites before I'm sick and way too full. But I can eat goldfish crackers all day long and it doesn't hurt! Why is that? All the good for me stuff makes me nauseous and all the bad stuff feels good... So, has anyone out there done something like this, and how did you overcome? I have to loose this weight, and in the last week I have only lost 2 lbs. I have 120 to lose, so it should come off fast at first right? Help!
