  1. I started using myfitnesspal again. I found it helps me really see what I eat. Sometimes I will be a 550 calories and other days I will be at my norm of 1200. My NUT said I need to eat at scheduled times because if I only eat 550 calories my body goes back into starvation mode and I won't loose. At 1200 calories I feel like I am eating and drinking all day long so she has me eating higher calories for my snacks. Seems to work cuz I have lost the weight I gained back. When I was big 4 lbs gain or loss was nothing, u couldn't notice even 10 lbs. Now that I'm a 9/10 4 lbs freaked me out thinking I was failing and that was just the beginning of the end to my new active life! I didn't have 85% of my gut cut out to fail!!! Back on track and realized that even if I do slip up I can still recover and carry on.
  2. So I am having a mini pity party....I gained 4 lbs then lost 2 of them. I have lost 85 lbs in 6 months and I am 15 lbs away from my goal weight. I know I have done great BUT to gain weight and in the first year has me discouraged and worried. I feel like I let myself slide because I was doing so well. Eating skinny cow ice cream, chips, cookies...... I pretty much have done this the entire time and continued to loose and I thought it was because I had 1 cookie or just a handful of chips instead of 6 cookies and the bag of chips but now I gained! Why am I so shocked???? Have any of you felt that your old habits are slowly sneaking back into your life?

    Shoe size?

All my shoes are to big and my flip flops are out of the question. I tried wearing them last week and I kept tripping and falling out of them. Can't wait to go shoe shopping and boot shopping in the fall. I will finally be able to get boots that don't have to stretch just to fit around my calf's. I actually blew out a zipper in a pair of boots trying to fight them around my calf!! When that happened my best friend and I were laughing so hard we had tears and makeup rolling down our faces.
  5. Today I pulled my legs up on the couch and......PAINTED MY OWN TOENAILS!!! I wasn't out of breath or forcing my body to turn and get cramps trying to hold my leg in place where I could finally see "most of my toes". I have lost 70 lbs and being able to paint my own toes by far is my favorite thing so far. Who's cool???? This cat is!!!!!

    Chubby Girl Mind

Once a month I go to the 2nd hand stores and get a few thing. You will actually only wear them for a month. save you money and gift cards for when your at your goal weight. I have gone from 18/20 to 10/12 in four months. I can't wait to go into all the stores my friends shop at and get cute clothes!
  7. I have went from a size18/20 to a 10 in 4 months. I still see the double chin, multi bellies and huge arms when I look in the mirror or see pictures! I am only 4mo post open and really was hoping that the "fat eyes" eventually goes away. Can any of you out there further out from surgery let me know if ever goes away
  8. I am worried that I may get a leak because when I sneeze I can feel it in my gut. Its a huge, spray out my mouth sneeze. Also, if you vomit alot after surgery are you a risk of a leak? I talked to my surgeon about leaks but the only thing we really covered was what would happen with a leak..... what things would cause a leak?
  9. My surgeon came recommended and he is wonderful! His MA Jillian is great, Barb the on site nutritionist is a wealth of knowledge. The 2 surgical nurses were fantastic and not one time did I feel uncomfortable or judged. Those 2 women made my overnight stay NOT scary. The name of the clinic is Puget Sound surgical Center.

    feb 2013 sleevers weigh in

February sleevers we are doing great!!! I love checking back on this forum and seeing how far we have all gotten! If its 20 lbs or 80 lbs, we all have made great accomplishments from being able to walk around the block without being winded to getting off our meds. I love that I have somewhere to brag about all the silly stuff I can do now and have another person really understand!

I was on 3 meds for high BP now I'm on none and she said I have the BP of a teenager! No longer need my cpap machine woot woot! I was lucky enough to have no major complications and minimal pain after surgery. I feel so blessed that I am getting my life back

  15. I have a shake with 28g mixed with milk 9g @ 5am, yogurt that's 14g @8am, protein bar @10 with 19g, cottage cheese 10g@ noon. So that 80 grams at lunch. I pretty much don't eat it if doesn't have protein.... after my daily goal is met its a whatever I want. I don't really count calories yet because when I did it was always below 1000 calories. I eat every two hours to make sure I eat enough, I don't feel hunger so I put myself on a time schedule.
  16. I still am unable to figure out when I'm full... I vomit about 2ce a week. Still learning!! Down 50 lbs ,surgery was 2/21 & I can eat about 1/3 cup. So far my hair isn't falling out but I get 80+ protein a day no matter what. I have not felt hungry yet but still get cravings so I have 1 or 2 of what I'm craving n its gone. No more full bag of chips, 1 or 2 is all for me! Ahhh.....doritos I have a newsflash, u can just eat one!

    am i guarantee to fail?

I have changed a ton of my eating habits but I am not a health nut. I choose low calorie alternatives...instead of a candy bar I will have a protein bar, fat free milk vs 2% ect... I still eat the same meals as I did before but instead of 4 pieces of pizza I have about 3/4 of a thin crust piece or a full plate of meat and potatoes vs 1/2 cup of it that I usually don't finish. Today at work we had ice cream bars & I had one I'm my hand a few people said to me you can't eat that! I ate about 1/2 of it and my high protein chili for lunch. I rarely eat over 1000 calories and always hit my protein and water goals. I am 2.5 months out and have lost 44 lbs+.
  18. I was never told not to take Excedrin. Can someone tell me why your Dr said not to take it? I have taken it several times since surgery (2 months post) with no problem.
  19. I had the same pain for almost a month after surgery. When I called my Dr they had me come in " just to be safe" and while pushing on my new belly it was very painful. They did a CT to look for a blood clot on the incision site. Everything turned out fine but I will say I was glad they did the CT, everyone is worried about a leak or clot and to be able to rule it out and be sure its just normal surgery healing pains gave me peace of mind.
  20. I'm 2 months out and last time I checked I had lost over 40lbs. I'm happy with 3-5 lbs a week. There have been a few stable but then I loose like 8 lbs the next week. I'm off my sleep machine and one bp med. My bp has been 90/70 for the last 2 weeks so I'm pretty sure I will be loosing my last bp med! My goal was to get off my bp meds and be healthy. I am thrilled I'm almost that goal.

    Fatty Liver ?

I do not have a fatty liver ( that I have been told) but after surgery I was having pain under my left rib into my left side back. I had a ct scan to look for something wrong with my new stomach (all clear) and was referred to my primary Dr. He called me today and said the ct showed a cyst on my kidney and referred me to a urologist. Does this surgery screw with the kidneys? I've read here of people asking about kidney stones after the sleeve.... does anyone know?
  23. Just wanted to share a small victory I did today..... I was at the gym and actually ran on the treadmill today! I haven't been able to do that in years. When I would go to the gym I would only walk on the treadmill but today out of no where I turned up the speed. These moments are what make me feel good about deciding to do such a huge surgery. What are other peoples small victories?

    Surgery tomorrow

Bring a heat pad with you. It also helps with the gas pains. I slept with my electric heat pad on my abdomen or shoulder. Walking really does work! Good luck tomorrow
  25. I was sleeved 2/21 and so far have not vomited or felt nausea when eating. Yesterday I started vomiting right after I eat. I have vomited the last 3 meals I've ate. I have read its not un-common to vomit with this surgery but curious why it would start 6 weeks later? Any ideas?
